Hip-Hop Rumors: Exclusive: Jay-Z And Raekwon's Plans

Finally! I know what is going to happen with Jay-Z and Raekwon. There is no rocket science here, but I got the scoop. Basically, Jay-Z and Raekwon are definitely working on a song for Jay-Z’s new album. I’m working on more info on the actual album. But, from what I was told, Jay and Rae have been working on this collaboration for about 2 years and finally got it together.

Over at illseed.com, I have a big tidbit of a Jay-Z rumor that suggests we’ve all been lied to!

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry! -illseed.

Don’t try and re-write history. You can kiss Jay’s arse as much as you want but you ALL know half of his body of work comes from the mouth of other rappers. Anytime I think he spat some shit I need to double check it’s an authentic lyric. ‘Big ole karaoke lips’

    • Brian Andrew Smith

truth. and anyone who disagrees needs to look up the video I’m a biter not a writer.

      • Brian Andrew Smith

his most recent rip off was from n****s in paris. where he ripped off biggies line from the song victory on no way out. “Real sick, raw nights, I perform like Mike

        Anyone — Tyson, Jordan, Jackson”

      • RapItUp

Uhh.. Jay is only the… oo, I don’t know.. 3rd-4th rapper to use that line?? Like REALLY23 said, not covering up the cited verse, clearly paying homage.. I think you need to dig into some more NY hip-hop before acting like Jay is the only person to use the 3 Mike’s. Hell, even Kanye used it, and added Phelps just because (Cruel Summer, and yes, I know Kanye isn’t NY)! Killa Cam comes to mind as the first notice. I can find the song if you want..

Rappers all use other points of reference from other rappers, this is nothing new. Jay just be styling, and SURELY could come up w/ his own authentic lyrics if he WANTED.. don’t you think? He’s been in the game for damn near 2 decades.

      • Brian Andrew Smith

i said it was his most recent. I’m not denying others have used that line. watch the youtube video “im a biter not a writer”. depending on the video there is 6-10 minutes worth of jayz rhymes following the original line that he stole. If he wanted to write his own rhymes, wouldn’t he have done that in the first place. And the idea of citing or paying homage is a bullshyt cop out. hip hop is about authenticity. The same people that hate on ross for being a CO, more than likely will back Jay-z for paying homage and not biting. its a double standard, and bullshyt.

      • RapItUp

I do agree and disagree w/ several points.. While I do agree that hip-hop is about authenticity, it is also pretty cool to hear somebody reference a line when you weren’t expecting.. obviously Jay citing a Big line isn’t much of a surprise, but I’m sure if Kendrick Lamar quoted a Big line people wouldn’t call that “biting”.

I am actually a Ross fan (not so much of his newer stuff, but what can you do) and I hear you on the double standard.. But that’s what we’re all about here in the good ol’ USofA.

I never heard of that biter not a writer vid. until this post, I’ma have to check that.

      • Brian Andrew Smith

you may be right on the kendrick tip. though each time he has quoted someone (that i know of) he has referenced them in the following line. examples: the hook from blow my high is pimp c, (ironically from jay-z’s big pimpin) and in michael jordan “im too much for these n****s and 3 much for these hoes, weezy taught me that and thats the way it goes.”

      • dehova

Jay is the most prominent biter and this story is about Jay/Rae. If you’re a true Wu fan and have believed in their integrity, this story of a potential collab breaks your heart

    • So 1% of his career’s worth of lyrics, which are obviously citations and not dressed in a way to hide their origin, are all you choose to highlight about Jay-Z? Lame has just gotten a new face.

      • dehova

Well, young lady, I come from an era where you didn’t bite. You had to be about this craft. You can’t say you’re a DJ and you play a tape. You can’t say you’re a surgeon and you programme (UK spelling of program) a robot to do the work. It appears there is a generation that accept this lack of quality. Granted, once I was a fan and I accepted this imitation from the likes of Jay-Z/Puff but being older, I’m less appreciative of their greatness, if not their talent. If you want me to go deeper, listen to how Jay-Z’s style has changed by association. He came in trying to rap like Kane/Jaz/Big L.
He was completely overshadowed by Biggie and, post Biggie, his popularity rose as a result of presenting himself as a vessel for Big. After that, Sigel/State Property (esp. Young Chris) influenced his whole style.

Lastly, I credit the fact he turned something into nothing but he’s not on Nas’ level for me. Wu artists would probably have been as prolific as Jay-z if they were biters as well.

      • everything changes with time…cant name one rapper who uses the same flow only or better yet remained a top artist using the same flow… either you chang it up or fade out like nas busta meth red etc etc

      • dehova

On both statements you make good points.
I’m not discrediting him as a man but, with the amount of biting he’s done, he does not deserve to be considered in the pantheon of rappers to which he is often held. Certainly not the greatest rapper.

        Jay-z has been a good business person and rubbed shoulders with the right people in order to maintain prominence. Post Blueprint I know Jay-Z for the following;
        Allegedly dating Beyonce
        Allegedly breaking up Roc
Allegedly being the musical leader of the Illuminati
        Becoming Def Jam president
Having a stake in the Brooklyn Nets

To me he’s a jack of all trades (and yes, he’s very rich blah blah blah) but he’s not the best MC, not the best business man and he’s still got Karaoke lips)

      • first man i guessing commenting on another mans lips is unsettling them being noticeable or not
two if thats your arguement why he isnt on of the greatest then tupac mos def cant be either nor wayne, nas, etc
bitings one thing taking lives and becoming a gangter as you become a gangster rapper is far worst to me

      • Celz

You slept on Black Album and American Gangster? Lmao and why you claim you know someone from allegations lmao I’m done yall really some fucc niccas lol

      • dehova

When a person get’s personal, I know I’ve obliterated them in a discussion. In the words of Jay-z (where he wasn’t biting) wisemen don’t argue with fools as people from the distance can’t tell who’s who. Ole tough keyboard warrior bitch.

      • Celz

Lol you haven’t brought up one of my points.. You rehash the original point that I refuted or set up a straw man.. Come on bro you gots ta do better..

I’m not arguing for Jay, I don’t like Big very much. So using a big line isn’t biting, which is something completely different in the emcee world, it’s unoriginal and doesn’t make the song any better to me in fact it makes the song alot worse.. But what I’m saying is your exaggerating about 10-30 songs (with one line in them) at most and saying it out weighs his whole catalog is hater shyt. Who did he bite in Threats one of his most lyrical songs ever? Who did he bite in Minority Report, Lost Ones, Song Cry, Meet the Parents, No Hook, etc etc etc.. Jay covers topics way more varied than Big ever did only Nas and Pac surpass Jay on that..

Your argument is weak, non factual, juvenile, emotional, hater shyt..

      • dehova

I can’t continue to educate you. I failed. Sorry son. I failed you.

      • dehova

Me emotional? You’re the one who’s cripin online! What was it “Fucc Nigga”? Thats what you called me right?! HAHAHA! I can’t reply to those songs you’re on about, I’ve not listened to Jay-z since Black album. Calling someone a hater when they simply express an opinion you don’t like…umm…is that the peak of maturity?!

      • and you speak as tho thats what makes his career…bitting or not (which is something every one has done) he actually put in the work to keep his spot…just list all the rappers hes outlasted and doing this without dropping mixtapes …say what you will about state p but nobody would know them cats without roc … putting in the work is what it all comes down too

    • $18592567

Jay-Z has been copied more than he copies by 1000000000%…

      • This ^^^

      • dehova

But he comes from an era where it was never cool to be doing that. Shit, if you beleive that bullshit photo that was floating around, he’s been here before that f***ing era. bro, I think it’s blueprint 3, listen to that album, if it ain’t biggie it’s big L. I don’t know who would bite Jay-z *coughs* Bleek, but I know for sure he’s teeth are on Biggie’s casket….and he’s still got Karaoke lips

      • $18592567

What about the other 14-15 albums??? He can’t pay homage to his homies?

      • dehova

Bro, if you want to pay for albums where he recycles rhymes then fine. Not me

      • Celz

Which albums have it and which ones don’t?

      • Celz

You sound stupid as fucc lol.. You think Biggie invented “Party an Bullshyt” ??? Everyone did it Jay did it the most, played it out, for sure.. But get real his best songs like Threats, Meet the Parents, D’Evils, etc stand on their own..

      • dehova

“Everyone did it Jay did it the most” Who sounds stupid now? Come on bro, miss me with the keyboard warrior attacks. I’m not saying he’s never done a good song or I was never a fan but he’s the most prominent biter in rap and get’s too much acclaim despite Big L, Biggie and in my opinion, Pun killing him on the mic.

      • Celz

I sound stupid because I’m being truthful? Lmao silly shyt.. Jay gets recognition for too many reasons to name.. But he has more great songs than anyone you mentioned.. I can name more great songs than you can name songs where he shouted out a Big line.. And stop sayin bite that’s not what biting is

    • Celz

GTFOH Jay has more material than any major rapper.. Only KRS, Snoop, and LL come close.. You maybe could mention Wayne and Pac if you count unreleased or mixtape tracks.. After over dozen ALBULMS worth of material (Thats hundreds of verses and thousands of lines) he said a Big line maybe 15 times.. Maybe 30 times he re used a line in his whole career..

Just keep it real and say you don’t like it, I don’t like it.. But there is no need to lie about it fam.. He uses niccas most famous lines in the most obvious way as way of showin love.. He clearly says it, Biggie did it, everyone does it.. Just say I don’t like the few times he did..

      • Brian Andrew Smith

nas has more solo records than jay-z. how many times have you heard nas bite a line?

      • Celz

Jay has probably released 3-4 albums worth more material than Nas.. And Nas admitted he bit Pac in I gave you power.. Try again young buck.. Jay albums have an extra 3-4 songs than Nas albums.. I don’t like when Jay shots Big out in that way.. Mainly cuz I think Jay and Nas are way better than Big.. But just because you dont like it doesn’t mean you can exaggerate it..

Jay said plenty of times it’s his way of showin love. He does it on the most commercial songs in the most obvious ways.. He prolly feels that people who weren’t around when Big was doin his thing will still get to know a few lines.. Whatever the case we are talking 20-30 lines out of like 5,000.. If outta 5,000 lines you can only find 30 wack ones he must be the GOAT in your book

      • Brian Andrew Smith

sorry ya little young fcuk, but nas did not admit he bit pac on i gave you power. he said he was suprised how much of his style had influenced pac on me and my girlfriend.

now go take your seat in the back of the class.

      • Celz

        1. I’m typing to your dumb ass while I’m doing more important shyt

        2. I can admit when I’m wrong

        3. Just because I said something incorrect doesn’t mean your ignorant ass point is right it just means I got an interview I haven’t seen/ read about in years mixed up..

Napoleon said that Pac was influenced by I gave you power. -1 for me making the incorrect reference. It’s still irrelevant because that around the time Nas started calling himself Nas Escobar which was a nod to Raekwon and Jay Z’s success with Mob/ Gangster influenced rap. Nas called himself Escobar AFTER Jay released an album that was heavily influenced by Carlito’s Way…

You still missed my main point.. If Jay has over 5K lines in his career and the only reason he is weak is because he reused other rappers lines maybe 15 times than you sound like a hater. I can name more great Jay songs than you can name songs where he used a Big line.. You sound like a spurned lover.. FOH

      • dehova

I know you weren’t talking to me on this one but point out someones misgivings isn’t hate. I’m just saying this guy is not as skilled as people make him out to be. Good rapper but not the complete MC. It’s like a Muslim eating bacon

      • Celz

When you exaggerate facts because you don’t agree with something it’s hate. Ok you don’t like the ten or so songs Jay says a Big line in an obvious matter, he literally has hundreds. If you pretend like you can’t listen to any of Jay’s material because of those couple songs, or those couple songs negated his whole impact on Hip-Hop than a hater is the best thing you could be. Other possible things you could be are liar, delusional, jealous, b!tchass nicca, etc etc

      • Brian Andrew Smith

i’d rather be a hater than a dickrider

      • Celz

        I’d rather be neither..

      • dehova

I ain’t with that disrespect shit C so, if you’re calling me any of them things I think we need to end the convo. I can’t speak for Brian but I am strictly about the biting, that’s it. Jay-z previously had a few joints in my mp3 (Resevoir dogs, Streets is watching, I’m from, dead presidents) However, when you imitate someone else, you stop having relevance yourself. If a comedian did that, they would not exist any more. So this is my sole criticism of Jay-z.
If you’re a fan, if he pays you, if your a family member, cool. Apart from my comment about karaoke lips, I’ve not been disrespectful.

      • Celz

You aint with the disrespect but you talk about another mans lips like a kid. I never called you anything but a hater. And it’s funny that you bring up comedians biting lines cuz Biggie was well known for biting a famous comedians line. But it’s not biting when Big does it lol… I’m not a fan of Biggie but just off top I can think of two times he used inspiration in an obvious way the same way Jay did. Maybe that’s the only thing Jay bit from Big.

      • Celz

Name the qualities that make a complete emcee that Jay lacks.. He is arguably the most complete emcee ever. You’re either old as hell or young as hell.. You don’t like him and judge him off of the radio songs. So you’ve never heard Minority Report, Meet the Parents, etc etc… You’re killing yourself bruh..

      • Brian Andrew Smith

notice how defensive you get when youre wrong. its quite funny. Now go listen to collision course or Kingdom come, or best of both worlds. man, those records are full of classics.

      • Celz

And when you’re wrong you ignore what I say. Like this, name someone with MORE classic songs or albums than Jay.

        *Crickets

      • Brian Andrew Smith

well first of all he hasn’t released a “classic” since 2004. Second, of his sixteen albums (4 of which are collabs) only three could be considered classics. thats not a great percentage. Now lets look at a group like outkast. Six albums, five are classic. so there’s that.

      • Celz

I disagree American Gangster is second only to Reasonable Doubt IMO.. And I would put his classic albums higher.. But damn Outkast is well Outkast..

Now do you see the difference between intelligent conversation and making shyt up?

      • Brian Andrew Smith

so, four “classics”. He’s batting .250 right now. With an average like that he’d be riding the bench for the yankees.

When you put out now stop material eventually you are going to have some hits? As the saying goes, a blind squirrel can find a nut every once and awhile.

      • Celz

Name 10 rappers that have 4 classics or even 3.. Then out of those 10 name 5 that have more good or great albums than Jay Z. He doesn’t have to be your GOAT Nas even said on Ether there is no best. But if you admit the man has at least 3 classic albums than he obviously is one of the best ever in YOUR OWN OPINION..

      • Brian Andrew Smith

ok, i admit that he has 3 classics, but personally i do not like any of them. Never have. Even his three best, i still do not like, but at least with those three i can understand why people think they are classics.

        Outkast

        Nas

        Tribe

        De La

        Common

        Beastie Boys

        Eminem

        Public Enemy

        Run DMC

        DMX

That’s ten with 3 or more classics.

      • Celz

You can’t read first of all.. And second if that’s the company that Jay-Z is in you just proved my point idiot.. Follow the convo.. My point is stop hating like the man’s career is worthless because he chose to use Big lines a dozen times over the last 17 years. You can say you don’t like him as a rapper, you can say that you don’t you like those songs where he says Big lines. But you can’t say you don’t like him as a rapper because of that because he has hundreds of songs that don’t have any Big lines. And he said he feels it’s his way of biggin up people he respects.

Lol runnin circles around ya weak arguments is fun though fam I gotta admit..

      • Brian Andrew Smith

yo fcuk boi. you haven’t ran anywhere. you have used the same argument the whole time. “but he’s only used bigs lines so many times” “he has so many other verses”. Bull shyt. And you asked for 10, then 5 out of 10. well all 10 have a better history of albums than jay-z. ive enjoyed this conversation, but its only so long you can talk with a parrot before you have to walk away.

      • Celz

The whole point was for you to admit out of your mouth the caliber of artists that Jay Z is in the company of. He has more classic, great, and good albums total than anyone. Doesn’t matter if he’s Number 2 on your list or Number 50 HE’S STILL ON YOUR LIST. So you bitc#in about some Big lines sounds foolish. And Big was well known for using/ biting Last Poets and Richard Pryor lines. So I guess by your standards you would say Biggie is trash as well.

You dum fucc nicca. You have never said ONE THING TO BACK YOUR POINT. Lmao kids these days… Look behind you I’m bout to lap you twice.. Lmao aw dam I just bit a Jay line..

      • Brian Andrew Smith

        *slow clap*

      • Celz

Jus admit you lost the argument you are ignorant if you think anyone can accidentally make a classic album. You have no idea of music or Hip-Hop if you really believe that statement. Lmao this shyt is like arguing with kids lol I’m done man you’re a waste of my down time lol

      • Brian Andrew Smith

i named ten, still no response.

      • Celz

“Name 10 rappers that have 4 classics or even 3.. Then out of those 10 name 5 that have more good or great albums than Jay Z. ”

Is reading English still reading it if you are unable to comprehend it?

      • Brian Andrew Smith

i named ten, and of those ten all ten have more good or great albums. you’re just too much of a fcuk boi to realize whats written in front of you.

      • Dickens Dumont

wrong again. streets is watching came out way after it was written. where are u getting these bs facts from? it was wirtten was in 1996. streets is watching was released a bit after in my lifetime vol.1. in fact two years AFTER it was written. now if u said he bit raekwon, that would be more accurate. cuz of the cuban linx album. he was the first rapper who started with the aliases. that’s a fact. it all started on the “wu-gambinos” joint on the album

      • Dickens Dumont

jay-z didn’t take up that up til in my lifetime vol 1. reasonable doubt had no traces of that on wax. excluding the intro and ooh one video and if i am not mistaken, nas’ it was written came months before reasonable doubt

      • Celz

Reread what I said.. You type faster than your eyes can read… Reasonable Doubt came out first, and it matched all of Jay-Z’s previous freestyles for Nas it was a style switch.

All of that shyt is irrelevant to my point tho if Nas changed his style based on what Wu and other Ny rappers were doing. And if Big bit Last Poet and Richard Pryor lines, trying to say Jay is a less of a rapper for shottin out Biggie in obvious ways so that ANY true Hip Hop fan would no is hater shyt. Period.. This convo is old and no one has disproven any of my main points..

      • Dickens Dumont

what type of facts are those? never in no interview nas said he bit 2pac for i gave you power.this is straight bs for real. i read the complex interview and Dj premier said the song came from him and that originally he wasn’t supposed to say he has a gun on the track but he wouldn’t have thought people got it. and the fact is jay have stole many lines from BIG. many. key example? give it to me on the dynasty album. i can name more. but jay is still a caliber artist in his own right

      • Celz

Read to comments below lol.. The first instance that involved biting and Nas that came to mind was that song.. But it was Pac who was influenced. I said that below. I mixed up an old ass interview so what. My point is still relevant. Pac bit Nas, Nas bit what Raekwon and Jay were doing, etc etc.. Everyone bit.. It’s called influenced ALL artists are influenced. If you think 15 Big lines outweigh the thousands of Jay lines then you’re stupid. Jay uses Big lines on singles to show respect. You’ll never hear it on the tracks when he goes in..

  • I just hope they really do the song justice. Everything is so pristine sounding nowadays. I miss the days where you could get a grimy recording or two from some backlot studio that subsequently had to be mastered 5 times before it could get the proper balance. Those are the Rae and Jay performances I want to see replicated on this track. The days, the days.

    • I miss the days when that grimy ‘chet was released, unmastered & turned into an instant classic!
