Hip-Hop Rumors: How Many Copies Of “Yeezus” will Kanye Push?

I have to admit that at first I thought Ye was going to chart low with Yeezus. I couldn’t see the obvious marketing and promotion of it. But, it seems that his “no f**ks given” attitude and unconventional push has worked. They now say that Kamye is going to move about 500k his first week. That’s a lot of freakin albums for this approach. I get is though. Singles are a hard way of moving units, because people don’t have a lot of faith in albums these days. The mere fact that Kanye is going 100% against the grain of contemporary Hip-Hop makes this a win. Now, where does this put J. Cole? I’m thinking J. Cole won’t push 500k his first week. But, I’m hearing Cole has a better album.

for the record, Ye doesn’t care about sales or if outsiders like his music. And there you have it.

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry! -illseed.

    • tvernon8113

Well I guess you see that as a problem but clearly didn’t get the message he was delivering during the song “Crack music”…don’t hate appreciate

    • Thatguy_87

The same white fan base that’s gonna be bumpin “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead”. That shit gon be mad awkward.

  • digitallife

He’s going to sell a ton his first week for the last time in his career..if the album preview is legit..he’s going to lose a gang load of fans with this album..guaranteed. You don’t recoup from a bad turn off album the way you used to.

    • Delonte West

same shit they said about 808’s…

      • digitallife

If you think Kanye is still as loved as he was before 808’s..you may have been stuck under a rock the last few years. The only thing that made folks semi start messing with him again was the his collab album with Jay-z..go look at the user reviews for 808’s tho..this album is apparently even cornier and weirder than that one.

      • fabbidavisjr

I think your speaking for yourself. His production still really good quality. And I like his last album.

      • digitallife

Define production for me because if we go look at the publishing names on the production values they carry a whole lot of other names besides K.West..perhaps we should be congratulating NO I.D. for the wonderful production you speak of. Much like we should thank scott storch for Dr. Dre’s production on the Chronic albums.

      • fabbidavisjr

The Blue print, ” Take over” “h to the izzo” Talib “get by” Jay Z “heart of the city.” Scarface, “Guess who’s back””run this town” Common “be” Jay Z “Encore” the list goes on and on man come on quit hating.

      • fabbidavisjr

Why you think Jay z called him a genius? A lot of his big hits and albums where kanyes work.

      • digitallife

Jay-Z has also made a gazzillion dollars off Kanye..He called Rihanna talented too..even though if you go see her sing live she sounds like cats drowning..but I guess because he says it makes it true.

      • fabbidavisjr

no bro, The blueprint is one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. So I guess Ray Charles wasn’t a producer because he couldn’t read music?

      • digitallife

That is the dumbest comparison in internet history..Ray Charles was blind and probably forgot more about actual composition than Kanye will learn his entire life. Again you are in here talking shhh without facts..I told you where my facts come from..you are giving opinions to counter facts. Jus Blaze is 800 times the producer Kanye is..if we put them both in studios side by side with a reel, a piano, a drumset..and said come back with a beat in 30 minutes I bet you Jus gets it done…Kanye not so much. How do I know because i’ve seen enough in studio footage to know that Kanye can’t play music for shhh himself. But it’s all good, when you come with some facts i’ll respond til then all you have is fanboy opinions.

      • fabbidavisjr

your a idiot. So i guess because magic johnson doesn’t hit the lay up he’s not responsible for getting the guy the open lay up?

again PRODUCER – A person, company, or country that makes, grows, or supplies goods or commodities for sale.

Music producer – A record producer is an individual working within the music industry, whose job it is to oversee and manage the recording

Just because kanye ain’t pressing the buttons doesn’t mean he’s not in charge of making it sound the way he wants it you dumb ass

      • digitallife

Dude you are the smartest dumb niga in history cuz. Seriously your analogies make zero sense. I told you where you can go and get facts…clearly you didn’t bother to nor will you bother to because you are still in here taking on a war with no ammunition at all except the threat of maybe getting some ammo during this war. I don’t argue with idiots…you riding ole boys dyck harder than kim kardashian son. The cat isn’t a producer, never was never will..you can’t read sheet music..you aren’t a producer end of fuking story. We aren’t talking about apples, we aren’t talking about basketball we are talking about music. STFU and keep it moving..double digit i.q. having bytch.

      • fabbidavisjr

You simple minded dipstick listen here. All of the lights? Power? Runaway? No church in the wild? Otis? yeah i checked the facts

      • digitallife

Look at the production credits..nuff said. You won’t and I know you won’t because the truth clearly hurts. Dumb people never actually bother to do research..ever. They are too stupid to do so. Going to websters dictionary online to get the definition of a producer isn’t research..it’s flat out laziness. Good day to you..must be super tiring to swim in your own stupidity every day of your life…

      • fabbidavisjr

haha your a idiot bro. I have the production here in front of me. Google Dark twisted fantasy

        google watch the throne

Kanye west produced over half the tracks on both. Go look in the mirror and realize your mother should have swallowed you

      • digitallife

Yup..he did because it doesn’t state otherwise in his publishing paperwork right? Again you want me to google shh but you yourself won’t go to the one place that legally states who did what on the albums..interesting.

      • fabbidavisjr

ok because all these producers make so many hits without kanye right?

      • digitallife

Actually yes many of them do..many do go on and have amazingly awarded careers once they come out of their contracts..Rodney Jerkins being one of the more famous ones as well as Kerry Crucial keys..and the list goes on. NO I.D. will have a long and prosperous career without Kanye in many facets of music much like D-Dot did after puffy.

      • bisolabliss

Do you peep what NO I.D.’s doing with Cocaine80’s?…That ishh is bananas

      • bisolabliss

What are you going on about dude? Quincy called Kanye out on this same subject matter when an interviewer compared him (Kanye) to Quincy in musical terms. Just google it, you’d read Quincy himself putting Kanye in his place

      • fabbidavisjr

all good bro i’m over it. I respect Kanye’s music, not his personality but his music.

      • bisolabliss

No doubt, it’s always about the music…but come to think of it, the music is often times than not the reflection of the personality, no?

And for the Quincy/Kanye convo, peep this:

Interviewer: Kanye West is similar to you in that he’s the producer everybody wants to work with in the last decade….

Quincy: How man? No way. Did he write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man. He’s just a rapper. There’s no comparison. I’m not putting him down or making a judgment or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don’t rap. It’s not the same thing. A producer has to have some sort of skills that enable him to be a producer. It’s totally different to know what to do with 16 woodwinds you know, from piccolos down to bass clarinet. It’s a whole different mindset. No comparison. None.

      • fabbidavisjr

I feel it, they are both talented individuals. Extremely talented at what they do. I believe Kanye fell in love with the controversey/drama. But yeah I think that musically he is well rounded and i’m sure as a person he is the same way, the media only focuses on the negative shit.

      • fabbidavisjr

Sorry I get it you mind can’t comprehend analogies and your just the dumbest dumb fool in history ain’t nothing smart about you.

      • digitallife

Sucka you compared Magic Johnson’s basketball to Kanye’s fake azz production..that’s like comparing Chaka Khan to a door knob..makes no sense. Mofo’s always think they are too smart for their own good not realizing exactly how foolish and stupid they really are. Well let me be the first honest person in your life..you sir are an imbecile. A fully ignorant, incomprehensible, new level creating and definition establishing idiot.

      • fabbidavisjr

This is getting entertaining. You my friend are a try hard. You try hard to impress people on the internet because you live with your moms, make wack ass beats you try to sell to friends for 100 bucks, then try to seem like a genius on the internet. you speak out your backside because nobody listen to your face so your only way to make a point is on the internet.

      • digitallife

Impress? LMAO..ON A HIPHOP BLOG? lmao…pathetic has reached new levels and has a new name..yours.

      • fabbidavisjr

With a name like digitallife yeah you live on the internet bro. You catfishin fat buck

      • digitallife

I make my money in the digital era..in a digital business model…hence the name…what’s your excuse?

      • fabbidavisjr

I earned my nickname bro Like i earn my money daily working.

      • digitallife

Good for you..pats you on the back and gives you a sweet.

      • fabbidavisjr

haha I’m done bro good argument i get it your into the actual technical side of music production. I’m more on the putting together of talent side of it.

      • 2012Industry1

You obviously do not know how Producing in Music work! He hear his influence and direction from some of the biggest records of the last few years. It doesn’t have to be that he HIMSELF produced the record, it means he produced the record in the influence, and direction of how it sounds. “Clique”, “Mercy”, various records from WTT, including Niggas In Paris. They all would have been different records had he not “Produced” them in some form or another. Ask Hitboy and Travis Scott if you don’t believe me. Dre said that a long time ago when Daz was saying what you’re saying now, and Dre answered: If you made it and I didn’t, why it doesn’t sound like that now! You honestly have no real professional opinion or history on what you’re talking about! Trust me, I can tell and see right through you!

      • digitallife

I have an ascap catalogue number, my family has been in the business 4 decades..where is your expertise from? Being a consumer…

      • 2012Industry1

It’s nothing to get an ASCAP catalog number, and my expertise comes from signing and consulting Gold & Platinum artists, songwriters and producers for the last 10 years. Working in the studios witnessing some of these classics being made, and making sure the rights and paperwork is straight with all parties involved! And with all that, I am still a consumer.

      • digitallife

So then you and I are perhaps the only people in here who should be sparring because it seems you and I are the only ones technically qualified for it.

      • fabbidavisjr

exactly man this simple minded loser just a negative junkie

      • fabbidavisjr

Quality of production my original point ya bish

      • fabbidavisjr

        Learn something about business

      • digitallife

I forgot he’s associated with Jay-z so by default nobody can have an opinion that differentiates from the common fanboys who swear these folks can’t ever miss..outside of those older tracks go look at the production credits..which clearly you didn’t even bother to go do. It’s always hate because as a consume i’m not entitled to have an opinion. This is the sole reason I avoid any post about anyone associated with Rocnation. Quincy Jones is a producer, Timbaland is a producer, Pete Rock is a producer..people who cannot read sheet music are not producers..sorry to break it to you but tweaking knobs and banging on mpc pads does not make you a producer.

      • fabbidavisjr

Outside of his older tracks haha. Outside of all his classic hits, what has he produced? is that what your asking me? Outside of his classic hits what has he produced?

      • digitallife

H to the izzo was how long ago? That was the last time Kanye was the only listed person working on any of song he’s associated with..again did you go bother to look at production credits? Nope..so please stfu go look them up and we can talk if you have any questions after that. By your logic puffy is also a top 5 all time producer because he’s the only person who gets credit for the song productions on ready to die and life after death.

      • fabbidavisjr

By your logic Ray charles isn’t a producer. By your logic everything kanye makes sucks because you don’t like him. GTFOH, cool you took a couple pro tools classes and now your a genius.

      • fabbidavisjr

Producer – A person, company, or country that makes, grows, or supplies goods or commodities for sale.

learn how to comprehend the meanings of words

      • digitallife

LMAO..nice broad use of the word producer when it’s not anchored down the topic at hand idiot.

      • fabbidavisjr

bro you talk in circles you give no credit to nothing. Go look in the mirror take a death breathe and realize you a negative piece of dookie

      • digitallife

        LMAO..pathetic.

      • fabbidavisjr

This is like ping pong bro i’m getting tired and almost off work you got anything new?

      • digitallife

I might just show you how to use BMI and Ascap so next time you take to talking you actually know what the fk you are talking about.

      • fabbidavisjr

I might show you how the music industry works where entrepreneurs like me pimp dorks like you, and take all the credit for it.

      • digitallife

LMAO…you plan to teach me my families business? Gotta love the internet..folks have no idea who in the fk they are talking to but are complete experts…chances are you’ve heard of my father in the music industry but i’m not even getting into that..just think on it…

      • fabbidavisjr

That’s cool man I’m happy for you and your family. Just defending my opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

      • OSBKE3000

notice how you name songs from over 4-10 years ago …. ??? aren’t we talking like .. you know .. recent music??

      • fabbidavisjr

All of the lights, power, runaway. you know the shit they use in movies and commericals

      • digitallife

Lights was produced by netherland music producers genius..

      • fabbidavisjr

ok so i guess the facts lied about that?

      • OSBKE3000

dude DIGITALLIFE has a point .. Kanye recruits most of the musical production and sounds and there are a group of “producers” that actually “create” the sounds for Kanye and all Kanye does is give feedback and helps arrange the tracks. so by definition yes he is a producer .. but why neglect the others working with him?? he hired them for a reason .. he gets the credit .. but again .. you’re ignoring the circumstances .. it’s really a collective effort that Kanye oversees ..

go check out that interview with Mike Dean on Allhiphop .. no taking anything away from Kanye but you giving the man all the credit .. which he doesn’t really deserve .. he’s just the “name/face” ya dig?

      • fabbidavisjr

Dude mike dean worked with kurupt for years i like his beats. but you can’t tell me he woulda mastered the beats like he did without kanye.

      • digitallife

Yeah right which I guess is not the reason why Jay-Z had to shoutout NO I.D. for fully creating every single aspect of D.O.A because Kanye has never credited NO I.D. publicly at all for fully producing an entire beat on his own.

      • OSBKE3000

you’re missing the point .. “collaborative efforts” .. you giving the man ALL the credit .. don’t ya get it?

      • fabbidavisjr

Nope I’m with yah. Dr. Dre used to do it. Pharrell used to do it. Timbalend. Collabs are what music is about. Everyone blending there talents to make timeless music.

      • OSBKE3000

exactly .. that’s all .. dude digital life had one ill point .. Kanye HASN’T been the sole producer in a VERY LONG TIME

      • Matt Swan

Putting it that way, then he’s no different than Pharrell fom Neptunes/Star Trek. Three producers that have a common goal, and use P as the face of the music.

      • 2012Industry1

I’ll define Production for you: when you either compose the record, or have other composers translate your creative ideas onto a record and make it sound like nothing that’s been heard before with samples everyone has heard before, your production is Top Notch! See Quincy Jones and Dr. Dre for reference!

      • digitallife

One common denominator with both names you used as examples..they can both read sheet music and both are avid musicians who can actually play instruments. Can the person we are discussing play an instrument? Can he read sheet music? The answer is no..proof? Go watch the mike wallace interview where Kanye looks completely lost behind a keyboard…trying to play it off and doesn’t end up playing a damn thing.

      • 2012Industry1

The hell?? Dre had to learn how to read sheet music, well after he crafted classics for himself, Eminem, NWA and others. Other than that small factor, they all made Classics similiar to how he’s doing it now. Quincy used a panel of dope musicians, writers and producers for all 3 MJ albums, Dre used Scott Storch, Mel-Man, D.O.C. and numerous more producers for his classics. Did Ye’ hurt you in some way?

  • DollasTX

im definitely copping J.COLE – to me he’s the “leader of the NEW niggas”
and the only album i bought since BP3 dropped – YEEZY might be download worthy doe

  • Larry Williams

J.Cole might have a better all around album, but the truth is that as of today (June 13), J. Cole’s album has been leaked on the internet for people to download; which is the case for most albums because albums normally leak a week prior to its release date. For some reason, Kanye’s album has yet to surface on the internet which definitely works in his favor. The later it surfaces on the internet in relationship to its release date, the better Kanye’s chances are of having better numbers.

  • fabbidavisjr

I know Kanye is a asshole to the media, and thinks he’s the modern day Jon Lennon. But musically production wise especially he is a genius.

  • He would KILL himself if he didn’t sell this time around.

  • Papi Peligro

Who cares. Its still going to be a classic. No matter how many copies are sold. What’s going on didn’t get grammy, didn’t go platinum week 1. Ya’ll need a new measuring system.

    • digitallife

If you are into rage against the machine yeah it’ll be a classic if you are into hip-hop it won’t be.

      • fabbidavisjr

Have you even heard the album?

      • digitallife

I have the sampler..so yes i’ve previewed the album.

      • Papi Peligro

I feel you though on that. He’s never been the same since Late Registration to me. I like all of his journeys except 808’s and even that one has some gems on it. Its that he got good topics.

  • Anthony Q Mitchell

YE got 22 grammys at this point he does watever he wants..

  • junj03

Sounds about right 500k but that J. cole album is straight fire. i see him doing 250k at least.

  • 2012Industry1

Ye’ doesn’t care if he sells or not, long as no one says what he put out was wack, weak or not innovative…..which so far has not happened. His batting average is amazing right now!

  • Papi Peligro

I like Kanye is taking it back to his concious days with his rap topics. He hasn’t really been on that since Late Registration. That to me seperated him from all the other rappers. LIKE THAT CCA stuff in New Slaves. I had been telling niggas and writing songs although not good about the same topics. No one else has said anything.

  • RedEyez

    Im coppin

  • bisolabliss

I DON’T CARE…When is that Jay Electronica dropping?

‘Down south they call me white man cuz I hang MC’s’ – Jay Electronica

Shout out to Detroit…and Rest Well DILLA!!!

And oh…on June 18th, Madlib drops ‘Yessir Whatever’…now that’s some Hip-Hop to look forward to

    • Jay

your whole fuckin statement is dumb they just said this nigga might do 500 k with no promo so how is he washed up smh

Exactly and when has Ross ever come close to the numbers Ye puts out…on his bad days?

to be honest I wouldn’t be to surprise who better tthan ye other than nas and hov err body else fall in line behind that man I admit the kim shit is a big cum stain on him right now but niggaz wifin strippers and amazon bitches ie joseline cant be mad nigga bangin a grade a smut

  • im sure as hell NOT buying it and im also noyt buying J Holes album, infact im not buying anyones album.

  • Slaughtr

Kanye might be an ass to most but really his lyrical content and his right approach works for me. All the BS we hear folks have gotten used to and it’s a damn shame when some youngin says chump shyt like Ross is better anyway.Ross will not be relevant real soon trust me,Drug raps only last but so long and how much longer a nigga going to take that shyt?Kanye is hip hop but he isn’t doing what everybody else is doing and as long as you grown men keep kackling like women at a coffee break Ye will be relevant. Personally College dropout was the best album and it seems after graduation Ye faltered a little but realized he had to his thing so for that he is winning. As far as his personal decision to make a hoe a housewife he gotta learn and most of yall calling her smut but if that fat ass was in your face you would smash it too so stop frontin and barking like muts. I’m out but will return.

  • Live Well

His white fans will love it.

  • itsAWWWWorchistrated

i personally havent rocked with him since polos and backpacks, when his albums had the whole college theme to’em….i get to questioning his shit {alot of others too}…is his OVERALL content still as good as it was back then…or is that just what media outlets keep shoving down our throat?

  • Golgo 13

i will b gettin kanyes album but j cole no sorry im not a fan of his music

  • His album got leaked, it’s over for that 500k sales!
