Happy Monday my changers of circumstance! Welcome to the day we begin to become the change we would like to see in the world! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to taking action against injustice! First and foremost my thoughts and prayers go out to the Martin family for their lost and what most of us see as injustice as George Zimmerman was found Not Guilty in the murder of Trayvon Martin! To most, this is a tragedy; but to some (including myself), Justice was served….. Wait…. Before you tune me out or get upset, Let me explain… Even though the past has shown that our system is not even close to fair, for many years we have relied on an unjust system to provide us with Justice! This is as absurd as us expected a thief not to steal from us because we are honest! The fact of the matter is that justice was served just as it has been in the past… If we continue to allow the wool to be pulled over our eyes we will continue to be wronged! It is imperative that as a people we ban together to create the change that we want to see! Blacking out our avatars and putting up our hoody’s is cool but not enough! We must be just as angry with what is happening in Chicago to our young boys as we are with this verdict! We must be just as angry with how we are being portrayed on television as we are with the acquittal! We must act and use our power to make sure that we are protected in this land of the free! As Cory Booker once said… “The power of the people is always greater than the people in power.” Let’s stop allowing the media to dictate when we should be outraged! Be outraged at the systematic racism that existed way before the fatal night of February 26, 2012! Be outraged that the unemployment rate in our communities are more than double that of the national average! Be outraged that more young people have died in Chicago than in Afghanistan (A country at war)!  Don’t believe the hype! We have a lot of work to do and one verdict would not have changed much! Let’s change ourselves now and create the world we NEED to see! Malcolm X once said “Usually when people are sad, they don’t do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change.” So YESSSS!! I am happy that you are angry…. Now what are you going to do about it???
