(AllHipHop News) Neo-soul singer D’Angelo cancelled several upcoming tour stops recently after the 39-year-old performer was apparently taken to the hospital over the weekend. The cause of D’Angelo’s hospitalization has not been announced, but an executive at the House of Blues in Chicago spoke with the Chicago Tribune telling the paper, “It’s serious, but he should be OK.”
D’Angelo was scheduled to appear at the House of Blues tomorrow, but the show has been cancelled due to a “medical emergency.” His show tonight in Minneapolis has also been cancelled as well as a Saturday concert in San Diego. There has not been any word on his scheduled appearance at the Golden Gate Park Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco on Friday.
The “Brown Sugar” crooner had been making a musical comeback the last few years after a long hiatus. His last full length album was 2000’s acclaimed Voodoo. There are reports that he is working on his long-delayed third album tentatively titled James River.Â
D’Angelo gave his first televised performance in over a decade at the 2012 BET Awards.
