Schoolboy Q Comments On Kendrick Lamar Response Tracks On Twitter

(AllHipHop News) Even though the man who has forced numerous emcees into the studio to record responses to his verse on “Control” has remained quiet about the situation, Kendrick Lamar’s fellow Black Hippy member Schoolboy Q has shared his thoughts about the response tracks on Twitter.

One of those rappers that released his own version of “Control”, Joe Budden, replied to Schoolboy asking the TDE rapper to call who he was talking about.

Kendrick and the rest of Black Hippy are currently on tour in Europe. They are set to return to the States for the Made In America Festival in Philadelphia on September 1st. Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and K. Dot will also be performing at Williamsburg Park on September 10th in Brooklyn.

Inflated ego’s…Kendrick’s the self proclaimed king of NY. And as many know with rapper cliques and camps…they are the reason rappers get in trouble on tour…a roadie looking for center stage. Kendrick this is the downside of boasting bruh, you have to tour NY and abroad and though your verse was not about violence, people are…you and your clique stay grounded. An old skool word of advice: Don’t let your MOUTH sign a check, Your ASS can’t cash. Be safe.

    • D. Rose in the paint

I see you are out of touch with today’s rap…Schoolboy Q is not a “clique member” or a roadie… he is an artist himself that is signed to the same label as Kendrick and is just as popular as Kendrick and can more than hold his own..

      • johnblacksad

“Me and my niggaHz overseas rigHtnow!! Dats r diss record”
        -Schoolboy Q

Sounds like a crew to me (and I’m not out of touch with today’s rap)

      • D. Rose in the paint

He’s not crew…he is an artist himself. Crew are people who help and have jobs to support the artist. He’s a fellow artist/friend. Crew are the cats who dont have major roles.

      • DJ7

Name 5 known records Q got out on his own accord that’s being spun regularly be it the clubs or any other medium…nationally…otherwise he’s still considered a roadie/crew member…I’ll wait….

      • Celz

I’m in Cali fam.. Dude spits niccas know him but if Kendrick is A$ap Rocky, then Jay Rock is A$ap Ferg, and Q is another A$ap nicca only a fan would have heard of…

      • DJ7

I know about Q b/c it’s my job to fam…no doubt about his skills and abilities on the mic and in time I think he will get his shine on b.u.t. today’s reality reflects differently…that’s the point I was trying to get across to ol boy…no disrespect to Q

      • Celz

I shoulda said different but I’m agreein wit you..

      • Casor_G

Nobody knows who Schollboy Q is mayne

      • D. Rose in the paint

Of course a southern coon like you doesnt….go listen to Travis Porter and stay away from real hip-hop…we dont need your kind

      • Casor_G

        Now I’m a coon??!?! ahahaha

      • $18916246

Until he’s on major..not viral or mixtapes…he’s a roadie/homeboy/clique member..shine chasin. I’m just saying….dudes gotta back up what they spew. I guess the new class is too young to remember how your card can and will be pulled. Serious talk…stay grounded..stay safe.

      • chihova

so you gotta be on a major to be relevant in hip hop today? that’s the problem with hip hop today. These kats signing to majors and then letting them dictate what they put out. the whole scene turned into a down south party because of it. Turn the radio off every now and then and go find some real talent.

      • Weedras

Q is not and i repeat is not as popular as Kendrick… he may be known by some in the underground but he doesn’t have as much mainstream exposure as Kendrick. that’s the truth…

    • KILL NEW YORK RAPPERS

yea homie Schoolboy Q is getting his shine as well, idk bout more popular than kendrick but he can and has held his own. I feel you @elipinilla:disqus, I said it once I’m going to say it again. Don’t nobody want to here these Class C rappers, give me somebody that he called out, that’s who I want to hear. I don’t want to here no irrelevant rappers tryna save face. I don’t want to hear Papoose, I respect Cassidy, but your irrelevant, I respect Mysonne, your irrelevant lol. Joe Budden, Joell Santana cool. If your not a legend in the game or relevant, we don’t want to hear you!! If he didn’t call you out, we don’t want to hear you!! lol

      • Casor_G

Who is Kendrick amar to call somebody out. Dude is not really setting the game on fire. To be 100% honest, I think he is highly over rated and sound like that BOB dude

      • KILL NEW YORK RAPPERS

        U SOUND STUPID,TO BE 100% HONEST

      • poloplayboi

You do sound stupid fr fr. You know Kendrick went platinum right? and has numerous #1 hits? You know B.O.B. sold a lot, and has #1 hits right?

      • Weedras

you mean Joel Ortiz… the funny thing about this whole thing is he wasn’t dissing ppl if you really peep the lyrics.. its as if you and your friend are on two different teams playing in the same league and you tell him that when we get on the field i’m gonna crush you… that’s just banter to me… why rappers jumping up acting as if its a diss is beyond me… dudes to get their comprehension game up…

      • poloplayboi

Yea, my bad Joel Ortiz. I’m not saying it’s beef, I just don’t want to hear these rappers that are coming out the blue, like where are y’all coming from, nobody mentioned y’all lol. Some of these rappers getting on this track I haven’t heard from in about 8 years. All I’m saying is let’s get the relevant NY rappers on this, or anybody that Kendrick supposedly “called out”.

Kendrick is special guest at Em’s concert in Paris in a few days… (along with some of his Black Hippy Crew, Earl Sweatshirt or whatever his name is, Tyler the creator and some of his crew etc…) …stadium sh!t tho… (not goin personally)

  • Eli Pinilla

The responces made new york look worse imo….nggz cant come out and make a quality record but got the best disses in the world…thats what f*cked new york up in the first place. Too many battle records not enough quality music….he was referencing biggie in that verse, callin himself the new pac and big. But even if he did mean it the way its portraid. He didnt mean he was gonna diss everybody, he meant step your music game up…I wanna see any of the dudes that responded use the diss record attention to put out a quality record or album…

    • DJ7

Fam…I know you are not that naive to believe that NY just “fell off”…there was/is a reason as to why the South got the juice and you and a few other brothas on here are intelligent enough to KNOW exactly why…stop playin’

      • Eli Pinilla

New york imploded, thats what happened. When the whole east/west thing was over, they just started dissing each other. On top of that, new york started making southern music. Nas, jada, styles p, 50 cent, dip set, fat joe ect all started making southern influenced music in one form or another. And when they started slowin down the bpms is when new york lost its rhythm…also, bad music from legends. Wu tang were dropping forgettable music, so was mobb deep. A tribe split up, and groups like mop couldnt get no shine….it was alot that brought new york down. But inner beef and how good 50 was at shuttin crews down that dropped new york. 50 easily crushed murder inc, terror squad, dipset, and d block out the mainstream game….

      • Celz

The South got on because they stuck together. In Cali niccas wasn’t necessairly beefin as much as NY. But it’s like niccas was tryin to get on on they own. And niccas that was on didn’t want to help anyone.

      • DJ7

They started making Southern music because the industry found a new cash cow / gimmick to endorse and dictated that the only way to stay relevant was to conform not b/c the interest in NY hip hop died…50 cent was a smokescreen by design B to which he was rewarded handsomely for…cooning for a dollar and selling out your integrity became the “in” thing for those wanting / maintaining shine…all the marketing dollars were flooded towards this new “phenomenon”… they (the industry) saw how Southern cats were working together, without major backing (on the surface I might add) keeping all their dividends in house and desperately wanted / needed to infiltrate and cause unrest…slowly b.u.t. surely they’re succeeding….so much so that an artist like K.Dot appears to be the savior hip hop has been waiting on for yearrrrrs…if you’ve noticed, his mainstream material is a bit different than his underground material which garnered him success initially…more pop friendly less political…if the machine has it’s way, in time, he’ll be a bottle poppin… I got more than you rapper that’s prevalent in mainstream today…let’s hope not

  • ant662

the thing about it, thats not even kendricks words kurupt said that shit on get bizy, kendrick’s track, and nobody said anything.

  • keepit1000

Aint nobody checking fo the date kendrick nem coming to town, dat nigga got a few hot melodie songs aint nobody caring bout what he talking bout.

    • KILL NEW YORK RAPPERS

      YA LYIN2 YASELF

    • Taihair Djehuty

        WEIRDO MOVEMENT HUHH,

  • Q Slayed They As In a Simple 3 Tweets Lol and These Niggaz Making 3 verse Tracks to Get at K Dot…and really for no reason…smh lame nigga do lame things

    • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

and NY handled it firmly!!! I didnt even care that he said that, I laughed because I know he will never be king of shi*!

      • exactly they could’ve just brushed it off like most people didn, but these niggaz looking for attention and tryin to build a buzz based on it, but look at it, its a week later and its already over lol

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

        true

    • Tom Rufer

Q going to be that same dude taking out his mom’s trash in his hometown in 10 years.

      • possibly but he ain’t now lol…then again Q may be good, he really doesn’t come across as a flashy dude to me, he probably stashin whatever chips he’s gettin

    • Celz

He deserved some shots and I’m sure he expected em. I give props to Joell and Buddens. Papoose went a lil overboard, he killed himself harder than Kendrick. If Styles and Nas say they ain’t offended and you take it as a personal diss instead of a personal challenge then there is somethin that was already inside you that you’re actin on. Papoose is still raw though..

This is kinda like when Beanie Sigel dissed Canibus in the Jada diss. Then Canibus lit Beans ass up.. Beanie just beat Jada so I’m sure he coulda managed a worthy diss track back win or lose. But the point of the track was not start beef with Canibus. So a response is a checkers move not a chess move. Sometimes you gotta take the small L to get the big W.

      • i really can’t even say he deserves any shots outside of maybe a few “how bout that Kendrick” lines from those who he named…anyone else it seems out of place from, especially when the line wasn’t even his to begin with….and I’m so disappointed in Papoose, he was never mentioned, and he went for strictly personals not lyrical combat and even worst K Dot was suppose to be his homeboy, i lost any and all respect for Pap and will never support him because of that unless he apologize to K Dot and admit that he was just trying to get a buzz going.

  • Jerry Ramirez

LOL at him sayin’ what he said then leavin’ the country.

  • bs_hater1

I’m starting to hear (&read) a bunch of lame bullshit excuses getting tossed around from some of these fanboys again. Whether you consider a particular artist relevant, c-list, 2nd tier, etc. is not the point people. Lets judge everybody’s response according to the quality of their rhymes and their skill-set (I thought that was what this is about) and not where they sit on the food chain or the charts. I’m starting to believe the reason half these niggas are so quick to say somebody is irrelevant is because they’re scared their favorite rapper might loose a little shine if people start paying attention to the “irrelevant” dudes again

    • DJ7

Say word…the truth hurts fam…cats become “irrelevant” as soon as the machine finds a new cash cow / gimmick to promote not because they can’t bring the heat…some of these responses leads one to believe that few are actually capable of critical thinking nowadays

    • poloplayboi

There irrelevant for a reason. Which one of these rappers that have responded with the exception of Joel, Joe Budden, Cass have ever been really relevant? “hears crickets” lol. I’m not saying don’t make music, do you. But pick another lane cause don’t nobody want to hear you lol respond to this particular song. I’m not saying none of these dudes can rap, they can, they lyricists. they can respond all they want, but after a while with all these responses from these “C” class rappers I bet you stop listening, but I bet if Wale hop on it you would listen. All i’m saying is “I” don’t want to hear none of these dudes. Give me Jada, give me Fab, give me Styles P. I dont want to hear Mysonne Papoose all these other rappers that barely made it out they own state.

P.S. my favorite rapper is 3000, that’s right he was mentioned lol, so I doubt he’ll loose shine to the “irrelevant”

      • bs_hater1

I feel where you comin’ from. I really made my comments towards dudes who try to discount EVERYbody who responded. Some cats aint gonna get off Kendrick’s dick & give nobody else NO credit. I agree that some of the cats who responded did it just to get on the bandwagon & it is getting played out. You also gotta acknowledge that a lot of the upper tier artist aint gone jump in, they dont need the extra attention as much as these other dudes. I’m not gonna back up on my 1st comment too far, because for ME, hip-hop is about skills, NOT a damn popularity contest…….

  • WillVetterGoodin

These people are sheep, stay in your own lane, and do your own thing. You gonna get mad every time a nobody says something stupid to you?

  • ladynamor

All this talk about NY not doing anything in rap is silly. NY created rap and Cali was struggling hard until Kendrick came out. Noone was checking for Cali for years before he came. Last person to do it big from Cali before Kendrick was ? Snoop? Cali has as sh!tty a history as anyone else.

    • bs_hater1

Co-sign. Folks have short memories when its convenient to.

    • Celz

1.) Cali has always been poppin whether you heard about it or not.

2.) Who said NY fell off besides Kendrick?

3.) Kendrick never said NY fell off, he was callin out mainstream rappers to to be less pop. He was clearly being facetious and didn’t mean for that to be takin literally.

4.) Why niccas didn’t Wil’ out when Joe Buddens said “What the dealin it’s like the whole NY been soft since Bin Laden crushed the buildins” That’s alot worse than what Kendrick said.

    • kg

NY rappers have been struggling more than anyone. No one has been checking for NY rappers EXCEPT for Hov and Nas. NY has a shitty history as of late!

    • Yo_Daddy1

      u forgot The Game

      • atlantahiphopshop

who was introduced by a ny dude 50 cent. (if you call that big)

      • Celz

Who was signed to a Cali dude

      • DJ7

Who is signed to a NY dude…Iovine is from BK…no shots… IJS

      • Celz

And Iovine works for Universal.. A Cali company lol none taken or sent lol.. But you gotta give NY it’s props for birthin Hip-Hop though.. What’s crazy is The Last Poets and Watts Prophets were in the studio rhymin on beats before Hip-Hop existed..

      • DJ7

Haha…a Cali company owned by a French conglomorate…no telling how deep that worm hole goes fam…good sh*t tho..no doubt about the Watts Prophets and Last Poets doing their thing back in the day…back when poetry came from the soul and contained substance that actually made you think… the way the hip hop I fell in love with used to be…damn….I miss h.e.r.

    • Celz

Leave that East vs. West shyt to the lame niccas.. My niccas bang anything from Max B to Cormega.. I used to stay up and tape the Wake Up Show wit Sway and hear the hottest East and West Coast rappers rockin that shyt. Biggie’s Goin Back to Cali has always been an anthem out here. Chino XL gets more love here than on the East (his words) AFTER he dissed Pac.

And Ras Kass, Crooked I, Tha Liks, and many more been holdin down emceein. Bad Luck, Tha Eastsidaz been holdin down gangsta shyt. And the whole commercial industry is based off that lame ass jerk dance shyt.. And we don’t even need to bring up the Bay. E-40 been holdin it down for decades..

    • toofaded1

in the same breath, No one has been checking for NY artist as well… The Struggle has been real to bring that Hip-Hop Crown back

  • Brian Hargrave

Kendrick is okay….. BUT LIFE IS GOOD CAME OUT LAST SUMMER….. CLASSIC!!

    Magna Carta just dropped…… CLASSIC!!!!!

Joey Baddass – SUMMER KNIGHTS………. that joint is official….

Fab – Soul tape two – OFFICIAL

AZ- LODB – OFFICIAL !!!!!!!!! lol …………. WHEN NY FELL OFF !!!!! lol yaw buggin!!!

    • Obi Won

Be honest, New York just fell back. Life is Good -Nas, is a legend already, Jay-Z is a legend already, Fab is in G mode, but still in a good space.
Now AZ’s LODB, is nothing but recycled songs that we’ve all heard already, I saw the track listing and listen, knowing all except maybe 3 songs, that others were featured. Still AZ is a legend.
Joey was cool until he switched his style up on the SK joint, sounding like Onyx. Other that Joey Badass, who has the potential to be new school competition, who else can shut KDOT up?
