Floyd Mayweather Issues Apology For Instagram Post Directed At Oscar De La Hoya

Mayweather Apologizes For Instagram Meme Of Oscar De La Hoya

(AllHipHop News) After coming off a win Saturday night over Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather took a loss last night when a meme posted to the boxing champ’s Instagram page took a shot at Alvarez’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya.

The picture featured De La Hoya’s face with the words “meanwhile in rehab” and “Oscar: I gave Canelo the wrong blueprint I was high.” De La Hoya checked himself into rehab for substance abuse prior to the Mayweather-Alvarez bout.

Mayweather has issued a statement apologizing for the post.

“I apologize to Oscar and his family for this posting.  I wish him well and am rooting for him to win his fight too,” said Mayweather. “I also apologize to all of my followers for this ridiculous post. I have no ill-will towards anyone and have repeatedly stated that I only seek positivity in my life and for others.”

Mayweather also claims that the picture was not posted by him, and he did not give approval for the image to be uploaded to his Instagram account.

“It’s unfortunate that a stupid picture was posted to my Instagram account earlier today that was not posted by me or authorized by me to post,” stated Mayweather. “I completely support Oscar De La Hoya and his family during this difficult time in his life.  Although we have had our differences in the past, I stand by him unconditionally and would never personally disrespect him or anyone else who struggles with addiction.”
