Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar & Macklemore Up For American Music Awards

Macklemore/Lewis Lead With 6 AMA Noms; Jay Z, Lil Wayne & Kendrick Pick Up Nods

(AllHipHop News) The nominations for the 2013 Americans Music Awards have been announced and the Rap/Hip Hop categories will be a competition between two seasoned veterans and two platinum selling newcomers.

For “Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist” Roc Nation boss Jay Z, Young Money’s Lil Wayne, and “Thrift Shop” performers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will vie the award. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ The Heist, Jay’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, and Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city are up for “Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album.”

Miguel, Robin Thicke, and Justin Timberlake were nominated for “Favorite Male Artist – Soul/R&B.” Alicia Keys, Ciara, and Rihanna were nominated for “Favorite Female Artist – R&B/Soul.” Unapologetic by Rihanna, Blurred Lines by Thicke, and The 20/20 Experience by Timberlake received nods for “Favorite Soul/R&B Album.”

The Jay Z executive produced The Great Gatsby: Music From Baz Luhrmann’s Film will compete in the “Top Soundtrack” category.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead all total nominations with 6 including “Artist of the Year” and “New Artist of the Year.”
