Eminem's Childhood Home Demolished By State of Michigan (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) 19946 Dresden in East Detroit will forever be immortalized on the covers of Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP and The Marshall Mathers LP 2, but it now no longer exists. Less than three weeks after a Nov. 7th fire damaged the residence, Eminem’s childhood home was demolished in accordance to an order by the State of Detroit.

The state agency that owns Eminem’s childhood home, Michigan Land Bank sent a press release, obtained by MLive that explains why the property was ultimately demolished:

The condition of the property post-fire presents a safety hazard that the Land Bank is responsible for removing. The goal is to demolish and clean up the site, so neighborhood safety and order can be restored.

Eminem admitted in his recent interview with BBC One Radio’s Zane Lowe that he still visited the old residence, even not so long before the photoshoot for The Marshall Mathers LP 2 cover.

Check out the video of the demolition below:dc

So they should leave up these old abanded buildings up for what again? Oh because Eminem lived there and that matters more then removing a place for kids to hurt themselves in and for homeless to live in.

      • StupidHipHopStuff

Exactly. People who havent lived near abandoned buildings may want them to be left standing but everyone else knows they are a breeding ground for drug addicts, homeless or often times f*cking rapists. Im surprised the city knocked down any abandoned home, they are so slow at doing it and they have so many abandoned buildings left in the city that its unbelievable. You know a city is in money problems when the real estate in the city are literally worthless.

If em wS really pissed or felt some type of way he’d of bought it! He just bought a property down the block from his ex just to be close to her. But he’s rich, he could of preserved it but why? He had a shitty ass childhood

      • YungKizz

        yeah good point

      • StupidHipHopStuff

Its mind blowing how much someone as famous and rich as Eminem could be stuck fixated on some trailer trash chick who he has real bad/violent history with. I dont get it, but i dont have kids either so maybe its something about his daughter and of course the mother of that daughter.

      • Jayson C Williams

Or maybe before he was rich and famous he was just like her? That’s the obvious..

  • h8me

it looked like every house on that street was abandoned

    • StupidHipHopStuff

If its in Detroit or near then they are. City has an amazing amount of houses/buildings that are abandoned or partially burnt down yet the city is to cheap to demolish them so homeless and others use them as places to sleep, do drugs or rape women.

Yikes! My heart goes out to Slim on this one, because a piece of him will be demolished along with that property. True, he had it rough, but that is part of what has made him great, and I’m quite sure his eyes poured out a little liquid on that one. I often visit my old childhood home, and it’s like being caught up in some sort of weird time loop. This life is crazy………

Eminem ain’t the king of Detroit…ESHAM be the king.
