Kendrick Lamar Speaks On J. Cole’s “Control” Response & Album Of The Year Nomination

(AllHipHop News) When J. Cole used Justin Timberlake’s “TKO (Remix)” to finally address being mentioned by Kendrick Lamar on “Control,” the speculation began whether this was the beginning of a friendly war of words on wax between the two. While K. Dot has not hinted that he may have a response for the response, he does reveal that he took notice of Cole’s verse.

Speaking with Power 106’s Rikki Martinez, K. Dot says he reached out to Cole after “TKO (Remix)” dropped. He also shows admiration for the way the Roc Nation rapper put his rhymes together.

“I definitely texted him,” says Kendrick. “He was in character, and he just did what he did best – played off words.”

The Black Hippy member also speaks on his recent Album of the Year Grammy nomination for good kid, m.A.A.d. city. Kendrick received a total of seven nods from the Recording Academy this year.

“That’s crazy,” says Kendrick. “That album is a really raw album. It’s not too much crossover, so for them to even put it in that light that’s a win by itself, so if I take it home that’s even more of a crazy feeling.”
