Jay Z’s Controversial Barneys Collection Surpasses $1 Million In Sales

NUMBERS DONT LIE: JAY Z AND BARNEY’S CONTROVERSIAL COLLECTION SELLS OVER $1 MILLION IN SIX WEEKS

(AllHipHop News) No good deed goes unrewarded , not matter how misguided the deed. Six weeks after Jay Z’s BNY SCC collection debuted to heavy criticism, the collection has reportedly surpassed $1 million in sales.

The partnership was originally designed to provide Jay Z’s charity the Shawn Carter Foundation 25% of all proceeds(with Barneys accumulating 75%). However, after numerous lawsuits against Barney’s regarding racial profiling in the weeks prior to BNY SCC’s November 20th debut, the deal was changed as to give the Shawn Carter Foundation 100% of the proceeds. In addition, the Foundation is also stipulated to receive 10% of all Barneys sales of the collection on the day of its debut.

As a response to the media and public scrutiny over Barneys alleged racial profiling, Jay Z stated he would assume “a leadership role and seat on a council specifically convened to deal with the issue of racial profiling,” according to his statement on his website Life+Times on November 15th. He further addressed his stance on Barney’s racial profiling in his collaboration with Rick Ross, “Devil Is A Lie”:
