Jay-Z and Kanye West

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is “Watch The Throne 2” On The Way in 2014?

Somebody recently said that the new Kanye West album is going to have only about 8 song on it. This perplexed me until I heard the latest rumor. I am hearing that Jay and Kanye are gearing up for Watch The Throne 2. I don’t have a lot of info, but the last we heard about this, Kanye said that was a ways off. But, he also said that he and Jay are always working. And this is where my rumor probably stems from. Somebody told me they are working on it…but maybe they are just “working.”

I think its a good idea to get it poppin’ – these guys are aging like fine wine…but aging nonetheless!!! Lets crank out these hits!

For real. Cats be hating just for no reason these days like thats the thing to do. I look at it like this, the beetles have had the top spot for the most #1 records for decades. Can you imagine what it would be like to have a black man rewrite history and he be on top? Young cats short sighted sometimes. Making history should be part of your agenda as yout,h if not what are you living for?

      • Black Jay

Cosign. I’ve been trying to tell dudes that same message forever. Cats be having that “crab in a barrel” mentality. It’s like they don’t want to see a brother come up. But what Jay and Kanye has done for the art form and the Black Race as a whole is opening new doors. It’s a beautiful thing. But some cats got they Ray Charles on right now. They blind as sh*t.

      • 84stickupkid

Who cares about your cosign, when you can’t even cosign the truth? Or give a yes or no answer…

      • Black Jay

Please shut the f*ck up. Nobody gives a sh*t about what you think. I wasn’t even speaking to your goofy ass.

      • 84stickupkid

J and Kanye have done f–k all 4 the artform except denegrate it…I love seeing brothas from the hood comeup but when they have millions, who the hell cares about them. They don’t care about the average Hip Hop listener so long as they buy their records and Illuminati style clothing brand.

Word. when I first started listening hip-hop in the early 80s it was basically broke guys pretending to be rich or fantasizing about having this or that material item.. now as a broke kid of 11 or 12 this had (for me) an allure and something to identify with.
However when someone actually IS a millionaire, bragging about their material shit doesn’t have quite the same vibe to it.
It’s sorta like listening to Donald Trump braggin about his riches.. I can’t really enjoy it from a rich fat cat in the same way as if we were both broke and fantasizing about being rich. It just comes across as mean-spirited and vulgar…

What does “Black man” have to do with it…is it really all about race? Or is good music good music regardless of the individual..btw what the beatles did changed all of pop culture..can’t say that about any rapper in the last 15 years. I hate people who pull that “black” shh..same goes with Floyd Mayweather..mofo’s never actually spent a dime on Floyd before 2007 now act like he’s the holy grail of life simply because he’s rich and black…oh and ignorant as hell. It’s nice to see our black people and our latino’s making waves in the world but let’s select some better people to idolize. Obama made the best history capable for any group of people..that’s the only kind of history that means jack shhhh in life. Money comes and goes so does fame…

I think the brother is displaying PRIDE and HOPE for individuals that belong to his PROBABLE race. Don’t tell me when the Olypics are on, ppl are not rooting for their respective race/nationality etc. That is NOT a BAD thing…

People cheer for their country not their ethnic group..that whole ethnic support shh is dumb. It’s the same thing racist mofo’s in kentucky say and do. I wish we defended the black president the same way we waste hours of our lives defending black athletes and rappers.

      • joeyjoejoejr

Its depends on who you are and how you look at it playa. I am not the one the waive the black vs white or any other race flag. I am going to say this, if you are not black then it has nothing to do with it. If you are black it should have a little more meaning to it. I appreciate having someone of my ethnicity doing something that generation behind can look at and say I can do that too. For that kid going to school and my be a little discouraged our whoever. Its just a little more encouraging when someone who looks like you or comes where you come from or just someone you relate to does something. But homey I need you to release a little. These are my opinions just as well as its your opinon about who is the better person to idolize. It doesnt make something so because you said so. The article wasnt about the Prez it was about Jay/Kanye, but at the same time, I wasnt comparing them to the prez either.

      • Terrance

What about 50cent who RE-ENVISIONED the MIXTAPE? That constitutes a MAJOR change in Pop Culture…

        IMO…

    • 84stickupkid

How is rappin about raping women and children a good look 4 Hip Hop? JZ should be punished severely for rappin that shit. And how could you make good judgment as a parent if you gonna run out and buy this GARBAGE?

      • Black Jay

Dude you obviously have some issues going on in your life that you need to address. Maybe it would be better for you if you go on over to the 700 Club. I’m sure it’s a much more sanitized arena and you will find many more sympathizers for your cause. Have a good day and please shut the f*ck up.

      • 84stickupkid

U can’t answer with a DIRECT yes or no answer so keep DUCKIN me…

When I first started listening to hip-hop in the early 80s it was basically broke guys pretending to be rich or fantasizing about having this or that material item.. now as a broke kid of 11 or 12 this had (for me) an allure and something to identify with.

    • Dubz

That’s cause you a hater…it’s cool coming from some broke dudes cause you know they don’t have it. But some rich dudes bragging…then there’s a problem? They were broke once, just like you. Be happy for them and work hard to get your riches.

      • Opposite Of Everyone

No, it doesn’t work like that. There’s no humility in bragging when you’re rich; when you’re rich you should be humble. Would you enjoy listening to a politician or banker bragging about their riches? And don’t say it’s different cause they’re not from the streets cause Kanye ain’t from the streets either…

      • Dubz

If they earned their riches then I don’t have a problem with them bragging…now if they are robbing people or ripping people off and brag about then I would have a problem with it. Humility should come from everybody, poor or rich. But nothing wrong with someone who worked hard and want to show off their worth….I’m not going to be jealous of them for that. It’s gonna make me want to get my own.

      • Opposite Of Everyone

I’m not arguing whether they should or shouldn’t be able to brag, people can say WTF they like… I’m jus sayin I don’t find it entertaining coming from a rich person.

& like I said before, broke rappers rap rawer than rich ones; once you’re rich you ain’t hungry and hunger is part of the spirit of hip-hop. If you eatin, you ain’t hungry no more – it becomes greed which is not an admirable quality in a human.

Therefore if we don’t feed rappers, the quality control will take care of itself!

      • Dubz

If we are talking about who spits better…a broke rapper or rich rapper..I can agree with that. But greed isn’t as clear cut as just a rich guy wanting more riches….when it becomes greed is when you are willing to step on the next man in order to get it….that’s just my opinion though.

      • Opposite Of Everyone

I disagree bruv. To me the definition of greed is if you have eaten and have a full belly but still want more.
In short, Greed is simply wanting more than you need.

      • Dubz

But who decides what you need? You going to decide what I need? Hell naw….I might want a yacht that cost a few million….I don’t “need” it to survive but I want it…and if I got a way to get it…I don’t want some random cat pulling at my legs as I’m climbing to the top to get it…aint nothing greedy about that. We humans bro…we got desires and wants…I’m not gonna hate on you for wanting something. So Jay-Z and Kanye worth couple 100 mill….I aint mad at them…let them talk about they Bentley…they trip to Paris or whatever…they earned it.

      • Opposite Of Everyone

what’s wrong with the dictionary definition of need –

“require (something) because it is essential or very important rather than just desirable”.
        “I need help now”

there has to be a difference between Want and Need right, otherwise we wouldn’t need two words for it? My own understanding is that need is a requirement of something in order to survive.

In answer to your question ‘who decides what you need’, imagine if your child had eaten a big plate of food and their dessert and was still craving more, wouldn’t you think they were being greedy as they obviously wouldn’t be in ‘need’ of any more food?

      • Dubz

Not at all, especially if they finish the dessert. Now if there was another kid there that didn’t have food and he decided to take from that kid to satisfy that desire…then that is greed in my book. Just because I “have” something and I “want more”….in my eyes doesn’t equal greed…..If I “have” something and in order for me to get more I have to specifically take from someone else…then that is greedy. That is just my interpretation of it. I think we punish people for having desires and wants….especially if they are working hard to get it.

      • Dubz

To answer your other question. Yes there is a difference between need and want….you “need” air to breathe, food to eat, water to drink….all of that is things you “need” to live…everything else is a want or desire.

      • Opposite Of Everyone

so that’s what I’m sayin, unless you need something to live, a desire or want (or ‘wanton desire’ as they used to say) for it equates to greed; especially if you already have plenty of it.

      • Dubz

Then buying a big house equals greed, buying a car equals greed, eating out is greedy…I just don’t like that type of mentality. I don’t need those things to live…but I want those things…I desire those things…I’m not hurting anybody else trying to get them…I’m working hard and in return I want to buy a big house or a dope car….I could survive in a studio apartment riding a bike everyday. I don’t want to though.

      • Opposite Of Everyone

in a sense you and the Western World at large are indirectly hurting people by not helping those less fortunate but just making sure you live in luxury. You could use your money to live in a more humble abode and also help improve someone’s life in a developing country at the same time but you would instead rather have a big house? That is greed!

      • ladynamor

        Thats ignorant. Bragging is OK now? Only people who never had sh!t would think that was cute. I grew up with elders saying “Stop acting like you never had sh!t”, Its embarrasing! Its a broke mans mentality. Who else does that? Its not about jealousy, Its about pride. When you make it, encourage others, dont sh!t on them SMH “I got some ice cream and you dont have none” (In Eddie Murphy’s voice}

      • Dubz

If we putting it in context ( like when rich rappers are rapping about their riches) I have no problems with that….They earned it….If your first thought is to go (Man they flaunting this in my face) then you should stop listening to rap music. That is the crab in the bucket mentality…and is holding people back more then rich people not lending a hand. I was raised not to be jealous of others…earn yours if you want it. So if its a hot sunny day outside and a kid just bought 2 ice cream bars for himself while your sitting on the sidewalk wishing he would share…I would be trying to hustle my way to getting a ice cream bar…that’s just me though.
