Slaughterhouse Members Speak On Battling TDE's Black Hippy

(AllHipHop News) Two of the leading crews in Hip Hop at the moment are Shady Records’ Slaughterhouse and Top Dawg Entertainment’s Black Hippy. Both collectives made waves during last year’s BET Hip Hop Awards Cyphers, and SH members Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz were among the emcees who responded on wax to BH member Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse.

Some rap fans have wondered what would happen if Slaughterhouse (Budden, Ortiz, Royce da 5’9″, Crooked I) faced off against Black Hippy (Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul) in a head-to-head rap battle. Slaughterhouse spoke on the hypothetical contest on RapFix Live. According to Crooked, his team would come out on top.

“Let me tell you something, that’s not a shot, because I really appreciate what they do,” said Crooked. “But as a rapper, I feel like I’m supposed to believe that. When I get on the court, nobody could see me. That’s just what I’m supposed to do. But that doesn’t stop me from being a fan of other great lyricists.”

Royce feels that the match would not pair up easily. His perspective is that the two groups take different approaches to their rapping styles and the winner would be decided mostly on the preference of the judges.

“I don’t think that we’re in the same lane,” added Royce. “I think that we get compared to them because we’re crews. But I’m not so sure that me and Schoolboy could really go at each other, with what he does, versus what I do. It’s not really the same thing.”

Slaughterhouse is teaming with Shady boss Eminem for a rap battle competition featuring some of the stand out names on the circuit. The “Total Slaughter” tournament includes Math Hoffa, Arsonal, Dizaster, Daylyt, Big T, Marvwon, Aye Verb, and Cortez.

The battle between the two crews would definitely be dope. I would have to side with TDE though.

Royce, K Dot, Joell and Ab-Soul would be going for the jugular. Battle would be insane.

    • Celz

Did you forget Crooked? I personally think Crooked or Royce could take K. Dot on some battle shyt.. After that it’s a rap.. Even if Kendrick gets on some super sayian shyt and beats his match the others will be too lopsided to make a difference.. It would be epic tho

      • hjd2023

Crooked can beat anyone in any crew at battling! Hip hop weekly proved that! One of my favorite rappers of all time, to be honest I wish he would ditch Slaughterhouse and just focus on himself with the guidance of Em & Dre!

  • brotha_man

i would like to see slaughter and a couple members from the WU

    • andone

good mention… thing is slat has faster flows and would make it hard to really judge imo?

      • brotha_man

naw scratch that. i wanna see slaughter vs. Serial killers (b-real, xzibit, and demrick)….although i think xzibit is the only one that could hold his own

  • I like the new kids and all but slaughterhouse would murk em…..

  • Pierre Elliott

    APPLES AND ORANGES—–

    • trapstar3

      we?

    • yo, nigga, you ant doing shit bro.. u ant in the group… u just might be a joe budden groupie doe.. ahahaha

  • DJ7

Wow…brothas already got battle leagues out there and get no looks as far as promotion on AHH yet here comes “Elvis” once again, positioning himself in a lane that’s already out there and it’s promo city….smh…the takeover is definitely in effect

    • TruthSerum813

Don’t flatter Eminem with that comparison, I highly doubt groupies will be dressing up like him and visiting his home 40+ years after he dies. Hate if you will but Eminem’s success hardly compares to that of Elvis.

      • DJ7

Smh…The comparison has 0 to do with his “groupies” …I’m speaking on the culture vulture aspect…

      • TruthSerum813

In that case your still wrong then. Elvis took Rock N Roll and changed it into a completely white dominated form of music. All Em did was make room for whites to be taken serious, the field is still dominated by Black Males, Even after 15 years of hits, how many other successful white Rappers have come out besides him??…….. Macklemore and that’s it, all the others flopped….. So, in essence, Eminem will never be 10% of the “Culture Vulture” Elvis was, he doesn’t deserve the comparison. on the list of all time best selling musicians Elvis is in the top 5, Em barely cracks the top 50 and last time I checked 2pac still had him beat by a few copies……….

  • joe budden is an easy target, that dude is a corn ball…

    • Arrie Mental Woodard

cats be quick to say that then forget that Joey comes from the face to face era. corny or not he has bars…battle ish and full blown songs that knock. its funny because being yourself is now corny when most of your favorite rappers front and act wayyyy too hard.

      • i kno he has bars, im not questioning his rap skills, or his bars, ut if he is face to face with a like wise talented cat and that cat is a lame doosher… joey is prime target.. lol.. being yourself is always respectable, but if your a doosh it will be used against you.. as it should.. if you are being yourself and you super dope and super cool and chilled out then damn that what hip hop is looking for… whop ever that is/will be crown that dude and call him the goat.. ya mean

  • TruthSerum813

Royce did lose a battle to Mistah F.A.B lets not forget, He did his thing on that “Malcolm X” D12 diss but that was over a decade ago and the Royce of today aint the same guy who made “Death Is Certain”, ever since he got back with Em he’s contracted that “Rhyme a bunch of words together without saying anything” disease that Em has been carrying for the last 5 years…… And Joe Budden I can’t take seriously, every battle I’ve seen him in he’s come out the other side looking worse and worse, I mean everybody from Saigon to Inspectah Deck to Canibus to Arsenal has taked a piece of his credibility away, his battle record is like 0 – 6 and I won’t even go into that laughable Raekwon situation……. Honestly Crooked I is the only one in this group I see Battling anybody. Not to insinuate that I don’t like their music but, from what I’ve seen of them in battle, I’m not impressed……

    • brotha_man

i agree. Crooked I would hold his own. hes the only one i really check for album wise

    • water_ur_seeds

Hadn’t one of Royce’s family members been shot that day though? I could be wrong… Personally I think S.H would win the battle…

  • gzdehb

    Slaughterhouse would kill them easy

  • BluBlack

SLAUGHTERHOUSE WOULD KILL THEM SOOOO EASY ! WHY IS THIS EVEN A ARTICLE ?

  • slaughterhouse is such a failure!

    • Arrie Mental Woodard

how? were they supposed to go platinum? No, they knew that and we all knew that too but whenever any group/crew is mentioned, their names are always bought up! plus they all got money coming in, side ventures and have you seen the Corvette Royce bought then had tricked out or his big ass crib. Shit you seen Joe’s crib? Crooked got COB and his radio show popping off. And joell finally had a reason to lose weight, lmao

  • MADNEWYORKER914

I’ll put my money on “Slaughter House”!!!

  • Arrie Mental Woodard

if its a straight battle then the win goes easily to Slaughterhouse…. thats what they do… murder shit! but if we talk about complete albums, subject matter, etc then the nod goes to TDE. i think Joe Budden is the only one out of SlaughterHouse that could put together an album to compare to alongside TDE. call it EMO or whatever but Joe doesnt just give you bars he gives you emotion and a look inside his brain, addiction, bitch getting ways, etc. TDE does that well… invoke emotion!

    • golder1

joe aint put out an album people have wanted to buy since the early 2000’s
