President Obama Launches My Brother’s Keeper Initiative For Young Minority Males

(AllHipHop News) In his first memoir Dreams from My Father, Barack Obama discussed growing up without his dad, using drugs, and facing challenges in society because of his race. The president connected those life stories to today’s young people when he announced the new My Brother’s Keeper initiative.

“I didn’t have a dad in the house, and I was angry about it, even though I didn’t necessarily realize it at the time,” stated Obama. “I made bad choices. I got high without always thinking about the harm that it could do. I didn’t always take school as seriously as I should have. I made excuses. Sometimes I sold myself short.”

My Brother’s Keeper is designed to provide young men of color with basic health, nutrition, and high-quality early education. Government agencies will also work with local communities to reduce violence by making classrooms and streets safer.

Obama was surrounded by young males of different ethnicities and the parents of slain teenager Trayvon Martin at the White House yesterday as he signed the Presidential Memorandum establishing the new initiative.

“In the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin verdict, with all of the emotions and controversy that it sparked, I spoke about the need to bolster and reinforce our young men and give them the sense that their country cares about them and values them and is willing to invest in them,” said Obama.

Numerous foundations, including The California Endowment, The Ford Foundation, and The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, have already announced $150 million in spending for the initiative with another $200 million to be invested over the next 5 years.

A new presidential task force has also been established. The My Brother’s Keeper Task Force will be chaired by Assistant to the President and Cabinet Secretary Broderick Johnson. The goals of the task force include:

  • Assess and suggest improvements to Federal policies, regulations, and programs that apply to boys and young men of color.
  • Create an Administration-wide “What Works” online portal to disseminate programs and practices that improve outcomes for boys and young men of color, while promoting incentives for private and public entities to develop and adopt strategies that have been proven to be effective.
  • Develop a comprehensive public website, to be maintained by the Department of Education, that will assess, on an ongoing basis, critical indicators of life outcomes for boys and young men of color in absolute and relative terms.
  • Recommend to the President means for ensuring this effort is sustained for years to come within government and across public and private sectors.

Obama added, “We need to give every child, no matter what they look like, where they live, a chance to reach their full potential, because if we do, if we help these wonderful young men become better husbands and fathers and well-educated hard-working good citizens; then, not only will they contribute to the growth and prosperity of this country, but they will pass the lessons on to their children, on to their grandchildren. We’ll start a different cycle. And this country will be richer and stronger for it for generations to come.”

  • Black Jay

I knew something like this was going to happen. As soon as Obama got close to his second term ending he was going to throw Black folks a bone. Like that s*t can erase the fact that he’s completely ignored us for most of the time. I’m down with help no matter when it arrives. But to me Obama is the first “skin black” president. That’s all. How the f*ck can he be outdone by Bill Clinton in what he’s done for Black People? We ain’t looking for handouts. We’re looking for acknowledgement that our pains and struggles exist. Sure Obama has been held up and road blocked by racist republicans. But that’s what Executive Orders are made for. To push past the bullsh*t. I honor him as the first Black President. No doubt. But as far as what he’s done for Black people, he’s dead last on my list. On some real sh*t, this is just another ploy to seal up the African American vote for Hilary. It don’t have sh*t to do with caring. F*ck politics!

    • I feel what you saying bruh but I think people don’t really realize how f***ed up Bush left the country man….I’m surprised bruh didn’t just flat out quit with all the bs he had to deal with. I can’t really place all the blame on Barack bruh cuz it would be unfair. I think what you had to say was real tho, he shoulda fit us in like he did the rest and not necessarily first because of color. It’s a hell u a lot of poor people of all shades out here. They shoulda got the help, but anyway I’m rambling. I’m not into politics heavy but at least bruh got around to it b4 checking out of office. Hell, the program might not even work but it’s at least a try if it actually comes into fruition. Guess we will see.

      • Black Jay

Oh most definitely. This is some good for the black folks. No doubt. But I’m not about to place dude up there with Martin Luther King Jr or Malcolm X because he put his people dead last to his political ambition. To be even more honest, I think he basically used Black People. We were good to get some votes but when it came to actual action he did the smallest amount. Clinton did waaaaay more than Obama did. And for that reason alone I think people need to really consider what they’re voting for. Color or substance?

      • That’s real s***

      • RapItUp

I totally agree btw, why wouldn’t I want Obama to do more for us?? But I .. kinda knew that wasn’t gonna happen.. White people are on a steady pace to be the minorities in this country, so having a black guy on the podium catering to his brothas… I don’t think the U.S. of A was gonna have that! You saw them gun spike higher than ever, you see the hostility that’s happening and WE aren’t even receiving that golden boy treatment. Imagine how many more cop slayings and George Zimmermans might pop up if we are given executive privilege. Do we deserve it? You ufckin right!! I almost wonder if Obama SAVED some black youth by not opening that can up. That man has a lot of hatred and negative energy aimed towards him, more than any black man on the planet right now… Perhaps only bested by Dennis Rodman… I’m just playing Obama’s Advocate, but I totally feel you Black Jay. We need more done

      • Black Jay

Now you just spoke some real sh*t right there. They will definitely be the minority. I know I’m kinda turnt up on this one but every time I look at the news I just get heated. Maybe it’s not totally on Obama. I think maybe that would be unfair. But damn! Can’t he even try to do more?

      • RapItUp

Lol I’m with you bro!! I think he is genuinely concerned if he tries to do more, he’ll end up getting his cap peeled back!! All he needs to do is give them a reason! And I ain’t talking about some random redneck off the street! But one of those cabinet folks in there REALLY calling the shots! Bilderberg/JASON types.. I really hope he puts some stuff into play for us before he bows out too.. I just feel like his hands are tied from doing what everybody expects him to do (cater to us) and catching a bad rap, as opposed to addressing the country’s needs as a whole and helping us progress. Even though the country knows that WE deserve some better treatment! And it’s been due!

      • Black Jay

You know what? You learn something everyday. That thought never even crossed my mind. I guess I got too heated. But you right man. They are looking for any reason to cap dude. That’s a hell of a piano to have dangling over your head. I guess I might also be a little hesitant if I knew my wife, daughters, and my own health was at risk. Thanks for the gem homie. That was a good one.

      • RapItUp

We are both right bruh, he does really NEED to do something before he leaves office, and I hope it has a lasting, and purposeful impact. I also would hate to see him go out JFK style.. God forbid, but can you imagine that blood being spilled on our turf, the animosity that would ignite? Some would be mourning, others would actually be rejoicing! My only defense for him is, he is trying as hard as possible to prevent that scenario. But if he doesn’t TRY to pass a bill or something, nobody else will! Thank you for reminding us on this side he needs to at least attempt to make that move! I need to hear that too! Because it’s so true

      • LD51

As they say all of our real black leaders are dead, incarcerated, or in Cuba. My only question is would you really hesitate? Not as ‘Black Jay’ with your wife, daughters, and health but as the President of the USA. If you made it to that position with the pride and passion that you clearly have for your people, would you really hesitate? As a public servant of the most high office I don’t think you would. At least, I wouldn’t. Listen, all of that boogie man dead n*gger stuff is real but peep this, do you know what would happen if they dropped that piano on Obama or ANY of his family? All of these independent thinking black people that worship Obama would RIOT. No offense but the whole, what about his life or his familys life is a cop out and a bad joke. I remember when he was running for office, he was on Tavis Smiley and specifically told us not to be scared for his safety in lieu of not voting for him. He said he already (before he was President) had more security than any other candidate or sitting member. So suddenly he’s in office and dude is shook? Lets say he is, WHY is this speculation sufficient? One man’s safety or that of his families does not come before the slow extermination of my people. Same old story, he’s doing the best he can. Can someone, anywhere, please, for the sake of humanity….give…me….a….f**king break.

      • LD51

Redneck, really ANY color neck that actually wants to see a brother dead could not give any less f*cks about policy that is passed. If we operate out of that fear based system (or actually believe thats whats happening) than every brother after Malcolm X should have just killed themselves.

      • Willie Stewart II

JFK got assassinated shortly after a speech about secret societies. It’s all good and well that he thinks he has security but if the right people want to touch you then there just isn’t enough security. Presidents have been assassinated before and that’s why the rest of them fall in line now and do as they’re told.

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

THE HOUSE WAS CONTROL BY THE DEMOCRATS, BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!COMMON BJ YOU KNOW THIS, RIGHT.

      • Black Jay

Nobody’s knocking what he’s TRYING TO GET PASSED. I’m knocking his obvious avoidance of the issue at hand. Black people are being straight exterminated. And he can’t even ATTEMPT to pass a bill? How you gonna let Bill Clinton do more for your people than you did? How? Explain that. How you gonna let Bill Clinton even ATTEMPT to do more for your people than you did. Pure effort! He ain’t no different than all the others. Just a little darker. And that’s some real sh*t.

      • Willie Stewart II

That I fully agree with. I’m just surprised that anybody thought he was really different than anybody else. Our politicians are bought and sold by billionaires, our election system is rigged and the only real change will come in the form of a revolution.

      • LD51

Do you know how many strong, intelligent, proud black men and women I have met that literally have thrown out all critical analysis of our Gov simply because Obama has his turn as Manager? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we haven’t even begun to experience our bottom (as a people) yet. We have fallen and continue to fall… “It doesn’t matter what he does, look what Bush did”, and “he’s doing the best he can.”

    • RapItUp

All things being fair, you don’t think white folks were on the edge of their seat waiting for some huge negro reform? He probably knew he couldn’t come in and Robin Hood us, because that’s not only what WE were expecting, but the tea party/GOP was too.

I think for him to still rock with, and mention Trayvon Martin despite mass public opinion speaks in volumes that he’s riding for the team.. Zimmerman was found not guilty and he still recognizes that verdict was BS. Simply put, I think he did a lil’ something for US here as potus without being the ‘nigga who was looking out’.

      • Black Jay

I feel what you’re saying but I roll with Matt Damon on this one. I would rather have a one-term president that went in and gave REAL CHANGE and fought for what was right, than a two-term robot. Obama got the mandate from the people to bring change. The election was his f*cking mandate! A black man? Come on! America put him in there to shake sh*t up. Instead we got a politician. Just because he spoke about Trayvon, I’m supposed to ignore all of the sh* t he didn’t do (or even attempt to do)? He didn’t get elected to be a commentator. He got elected to TRY to change the system. Instead we get a few cookies thrown our way and we’re supposed to be happy? Y’all can be happy. I’m being honest. In terms of living, we’re maybe 30% better off than if Bush was in office. And that’s real.

      • Savimbi

What was he supposed to do exactly?

      • Black Jay

Look at your newspaper from the last month and you should have an idea….. But I’ll just mention a few things.

TO THIS DATE HE STILL HASN’T ADDRESSED UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY NOR HAS A PLAN IN PLACE TO COMBAT IT.

TO THIS DATE HE STILL HAS NO PLAN TO DEAL WITH THE ALL OUT ASSAULT ON THE BLACK MALE. And I don’t mean figuratively. I mean murder rates, police brutality, STAND YOUR GROUND, STOP AND FRISK…..

I know some people will say that some of those are state issues, but he could easily devise plans and programs to bypass the bullsh*t.

I know some people will say that this law addresses those things. For now. Why didn’t he do it earlier? Because he only cared about reelection. If he had acted sooner maybe there wouldn’t even be a dead Trayvon.

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

Hold on BJ You know the HOUSE running shit, Everything he tried to do was block by the HOUSE. Before he got in WH Republican said they gonna block every Bill he tried to past. And those racist pig did it for 4years. Now Ex Order u talking about is very limited. Shit was crazy when he got in, and bro I live OK, right now, but when Bush was in there, it was rough for me. Now i’m doing a little better. can’t stunt like some people, but he did ease the pain a little. He’s just one man If Mitt would have won,Black people and low income people would have been fawk. Cause Republican call us TAKERS, JMO.

      • Black Jay

I feel you bro. But my problem would never be WHAT HE DIDN’T GET PASSED. Never. I’m not that unfair. Stevie Wonder could see the obstructionism being played out by the House. But I have a question for you…. How many of those bills that he attempted to pass directly addressed the crisis going on with Black Men? I can tell you…. Zero. He hasn’t even spoken. As a matter of fact, when asked by several Black Leaders about why he hasn’t even addressed certain issues, his response was
“I’m the president of all of America. Not just Black America.”
Now what he was saying is true. I totally agree. But to not even offer one bill to address what’s happening in these streets? Come on… Dude is FROM CHICAGO. AND LOOK AT HIS HOME TURF! The Murder rate is sick!
Republicans ain’t got sh*t to do with his inability to open his f*cking mouth or present a bill and even “try”. And that’s what I’m talking about. I know his responsibilities, but putting your people dead last on some sh*t before you leave office? Come on…. Ain’t no republicans got sh*t to do with that.

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

YEAH BRO, I CAN DIG THAT.

      • Willie Stewart II

I think what you don’t understand is that in that type of position you have to play chess. He’s struggling just to fulfill the campaign promises he made in his first election and he’s in his second term. Immigration reform as an example. He took a republican state run healthcare plan that Mitt Romney at one time said could be a model for the nation and he applied it to the nation and look at the backlash and obstruction that he’s dealing with from the other side. Now just imagine if he had ever tried to push any sort of pro black agenda. Not only would the republicans congress prove to be an immovable barrier that no executive action could get through but he would easily lose support from a lot of democrats in congress if any of their constituents felt threatened by Obama’s pro black agenda. A president has to actually be able to get stuff done and if you don’t have enough people behind you to demand some action for congress than stuff doesn’t get done. There isn’t a lot that Obama was able to do at all in the past 4 years and I’d be surprised if anything gets done under his term to significantly impact the African American community simply because congress doesn’t want him to have any kind of lasting legacy as a great president. his biggest mistake was not knowing how to politic with those white people so he didn’t rub them the wrong way. They quickly showed him how powerless a president can be without the backing of congress.

      • Willie Stewart II

But again I agree, he did put us dead last but then he was raised by white people and is only a black president because of his skin.

      • Afi Keita James

Stop talking about democrats and republicans, neither of them don’t give a rat’s ass about the american people, I Call them democrips and rebloodlicans, gangs.

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

        STOP WAITING FOR HANDOUTS!

      • LD51

Lets say the institutional hunting and murder of our people is a states issue. What did he do when he was working in the worse state for said genocide? By his own admission things were worse in the parish of Chicago he was “organizing” and “community developing” when he left. Since being a local senator he has become the President of the fcking World and you mean to tell me that not only can he not do anything about it but he WONT even comment?! He can talk about Kanye’s bitch ass all day and we consider him worldly. He refuses to talk about the rising daily dose of dead chicago (among other places) n*ggers and we say what…its States Rights!??!?

      • Black Jay

We on the same page dude. I completely agree.

      • Afi Keita James

Leave the stand your ground alone, we need 2nd amendment rights now, they will not take our guns and we need to end the criminal non for profit federal reserve, because that is the real killer to this country, nobama’s a puppet controlled by the banksters.

      • RapItUp

Definitely not happy with what’s going on in the cabinet, but.. the POTUS is only a face figure. He’s a front man. I’ve seen you on the boards dropping gems (like below) so you should know Obama can’t come in and usher in a new way. His mandate of change sounds good to people, why wouldn’t congress let him spew that change mess to the people after Bush? Hell, we would’ve settled for Palin had Obama not been there talking a good game.

He got elected because he talked that talk, but at the end of the day, he isn’t calling (m)any shots. A lot of the legislation he was acting on came from George W. And we can tap-dance around it all day, but face it, having a black president really stirs shit up globally and the race baiting and division of the people of this country as a whole seems more abundant than ever. Is that a congressional tactic? Maybe not. Could it be written in the agenda of the people who influence Congress, and the Supreme Court; the major corporations that fund these politicians to keep in place socioeconomic strategies to keep us chasing our tails and killing each other, drugging/killing ourselves?

Rambled a bit, but.. the way I see it, if you say we’re 30% better than Bush was in office, that’s pretty damn good considering Obama being in office isn’t REALLY much different than Bush being in office.. That’s what I’m happy about.

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

AGREE WITH SOME OF YOU POINTS, BUT DIG THIS HAVE EVER SEEN THIS MUCH HATE FOR PRESIDENT. WE HATED BUSH BUT WE DIDN’T THROW DIRT LIKE THEY DO OBAMA. AN IF HE DIDN’T HAVE A COOL HEAD ( THEY EVEN BE DISSING HIS WIFE) , THE AVERAGE BLK MAN COULDN’T HANDLE IT. YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYBODY SO WHY WE THINK HE CAN.

      • RapItUp

That’s what I said below too, responding to another of Black Jay’s joints, check it. He really takes a lot of true, red in the face, blood boiling HATE. Bush, we liked to clown him, call him stupid, and he was a TOOLBOX, no doubt. But he was a smart guy and despite having a ‘less than desirable’ presidency bid, he still has respect because he bowed out silently, and kept it cordial w/ Obama.

People are literally sick to their stomach to have a black president.. I be on those CNN boards and it gets ugly. I don’t even bother responding because, there’s no reasoning with a mongrel w/ hate in their blood.. that can’t see one human being to another. I think Obama handles himself very well in the public eye, probably better than any other brotha could! That’s not in regards to his policies, but stature and professionalism. I think he’s an excellent representation for the black man in America. Very few could come in after Bush Jr. and Swiffer that heaux up

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

BEING ABLE TO TAKE THAT SHIT EVERYDAY, MAN I DON’T THINK I COULD DO IT. yOU OUGHT TO HEAR WHAT THE REPUBLICAN BE SAYING. AN THE TEA PARTY, YOU TALKING BOUT A BUNCH A NUTS. I GIVE HIM PROP ON JUST KEEPING HIS COOL.

      • RapItUp

100 though.. They were putting the monkey photos up and schizz.. he really held it down in terms of not paying any attention to the baiters.. He might never get props for it, but it was duly recognized.

      • Black Jay

I can’t even front on that sh*t. I would be straight ready to fight on sight. Lol! Politics is some tough stuff. No doubt!

      • Black Jay

Bro I know what’s up. I never said he COULD change everything. But to not even try? Come on. I only wanted effort. I can accept the fact that America is still as racist as the 1960’s. That I can manage. But to have a “brother” in the White house and not have him even introduce ONE BILL that addresses our people? Not one? Come on…. We’re not talking about getting it passed. We’re talking about ATTEMPTING TO GET IT PASSED. Not one bill? Sh*t……

      • Willie Stewart II

I feel what you’re saying but Obama is a calculative man. I think he knows his limits as far as what can be accomplished and I could probably tell you right now what he could and couldn’t accomplish in two terms. I think he may have even miscalculated with the tea part taking over during the mid terms but if I were in his shoes I wouldn’t attempt to pass something that I absolutely knew would fail because depending on the public re-action, it could jeopardize my ability to accomplish things that I would have otherwise been able to accomplish making me less effective as a president.

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

        Agree!

      • Afi Keita James

First of all I’m sick and tired of this zimmerman/martin nonsense, their both stupid for what they’ve done yet miriam carey is killed by them punk ass cops and they applauded it, I Am appauled.

    • Willie Stewart II

Executive orders don’t equal god mode. congress is there for checks and balances. If the president could unilaterally just make whatever he wanted happen then that would undermine the way our political system worked. Re-election is also important too and coming across as pro-black would have definitely shut the door on that. He did put us last and basically use us like you said but they would’ve never allowed a black man into the white house any other way. I think this is a big step considering the way he’s had to walk on egg shells around these white people. You’ve got to remember, he might be the president but he’s still a black man in a white mans world and I’d imagine there are some people who’ve been involved in the political system a lot longer than any president ever will be that you just don’t want to cross.

JFK was last real president. Look up his speech exposing the influence of secret societies in government (illuminati). Like Krs1 said, we are allowed to see the manager (Obama) but not the franchise owner (??????). Also check out the 1968 documentary called “The Grand Design, World Government.”

    • RapItUp

Anybody coming in office, and going against what is relayed to them by TRUE Congress, will inevitably get their wig pushed back.. The country ain’t tryna have that change right now. We need it fa sho, but if one man come in here thinking he is going to make the change we know we really need, and big corp’s ain’t tryna hear that, somebody is gonna turn up dead. Sad to say

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

        COSIGN!

      • The_Good_Life

Wig push back!!! Hahaha…I haven’t heard anybody say it like that in years. I’m not political, I just don’t believe in government, but the other day I was reading an article about the dude that made the documentary “2016”. That’s the one they had in theaters bashing Obama’s whole life. Well, that same dude just caught campaign financing charges and is facing 30 years and 500 mill fine. He went against the grain and damn near effed up his life.

      • RapItUp

Yea, I kinda veered away from politics after Obama got in.. it just started getting too scathing, too personal.. it wasn’t about politics anymore. But that’s exactly what the machine wants. They don’t want us worried about policy and legislation that affects our every day lives. They want us worried about George Zimmerman boxing cracked out DMX for ratings.. race bait.. distractions, greed, etc.. Didn’t know 2016 was like that!! That’s nuts! He got back what he had coming though!

      • Willie Stewart II

If that’s the guy I’m thinking about then he’s the idiot that managed to do the near impossible and actually break the very lenient campaign finance laws that we have in place right now ever since citizens united. I believe he did something along the lines of donating the maximum allowable amount of money, convincing friends to donate the maximum and then reimbursing them for their donations, ultimately breaking a law that’s pretty difficult to break these days.

    • Willie Stewart II

My dad showed me that speech. I believe it was right before he was killed. I’d alter the statement of nobody is untouchable to anybody who can be seen can be touched.

    • Afi Keita James

      Got that right.

  • brotha_man

i dont care what anybody says or thinks. i would vote for obama every damn term if possible. I will never forget bush. white folks have not brainwashed me into hating this brother. when bush was in office i was deployed twice to iraq….obama in office no more worries on deploying.

    • GQ

LOL fell for the Okie doke. He’s about to be out of office soon and NOW he realizes black people? FOH. He’s done LOTS for whites, gays, even mexicans, but now wants to start this “program” that won’t last. He’s just like the rest, different name different face. He hasn’t called you yet to fight in the war that has nothing to do with you, but I wouldn’t say “no more worries” just yet.

      • LD51

Not only that but he even clearly states that he isn’t going to do sht. Look at the rhetoric used. “Develop a comprehensive website” – If I wanted a WEBSITE Id call PornHub not the White House, we’ve all seen how they can’t even operate one of those correctly. “Recommend to the President means…” – so another advisory board to recommend…how about this, fck all the recommendations and ACTUALLY do something. “Create an Administration-wide “What Works” online portal.” – for us? nothing, next! “Assess and suggest improvement to Federal policies, regulations…” …So you mean to tell me you are spending THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS ON WHAT!??!?! Advice? I got some advice for yall and hey guess what, its free! Go f**k yourself!

      • brotha_man

all im saying through out history there have probable been 3 presidents that made real change. I say give the brotha a break, white folks been fugging up for years. truthfully we will never see another black president….at least in our life time. white folks trying to paint him as the worst ever…..hell, lets not forget reaganomics, richard nixon,
Ulysses S. Grant, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, just to name a few.

    • Savimbi

      You got the right idea…

    • Bruh I agree. Now check me out now, this S*** is so real. I’m a vet too bruh, I can remember a time when we could go to all these different countries and have the time of our lives, the whole world was open and fun. Dead serious I done seen some s*** I would have never seen. Soon as Bush pussa** get on deck, our world shrank and the party was over. We could no longer go to all those beautiful countries with them beautiful broads anymore because Bush fu**ed it up 4 eybody. Every one started lookn at us as bullies of the world and hated us so we could no longer just go and kick it. Deploying mu***** left and right. Deploy these nuts mayne I can’t stand Bush he honestly has the face of a devil. I remember that fag had the nerve to land on a carrier I was on, all these clowns tryna meet him and stuff, I was thinking like fu** that nigga cuz he the reason I’m on here…I’m out and getn the best sleep of my life now.

    • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

      Agree.

    • LD51

No lie, I was going to say something but after reading what you said I completely understand where you’re coming from. Much respect.

    • Black Jay

Hey bro… I was in the military too and I went to Iraq. I see where you’re coming from. But I just have a lot of disappointment with this dude’s effort. That’s all.

I can dig it, and that’s why I said I respect your opinion because you earned it the hard way. Everyone can agree to disagree, but on a more important note, that girl from 12yrs a Slave has one serious case of natural fat a$$. Nikki needs to take note.

Brotha_man I’m not going to argue over your views because you earned them the hard way and I respect that. BUT while I’m not a fan of Bush the one thing I did like about him was that when we went to the Stan, he let the world know straight up, like it or not, we were going there and we meant business and if you crossed us, we’re going to be knocking on your door too. Now I’m not going to mention my views on the Iraq war because what’s the point? There were too many servicemembers lost over there to really argue over semantics. Bush did tell the world FU, but he meant every word (cough dollar in Iraq) of it. Now fast forward, and EVERYTHING you’re taught about OPSEC is blown. We’re announcing deployment schedules, redeployment schedules, major pullouts, and even when we’re going to pull out of theater. Is that the way we want to go? Is that the future you’d want for yourself or your family? If I had a choice between being the bully or the bullied, you don’t have to like me for kicking your a$$, but you’re damn sure going to respect me while/after I do it. I’ll take the bully any day. Under Bush would Snowden have been able or dared to pull that stunt he did? Would he have survived? Same with Manning. As time has gone on, we’re so worried about making “friends” with others that we forsake ourselves. And this initiative while good in name or even deed is only as good as the sitting president acknowledges it. The government, might mean well, but the states have the power in this case. No cooperation from the states, then this will fall by the wayside faster than it will when he leaves office. My brother’s keeper IS the brother that actually looks after me. Not a piece of paper with no one behind it, but someone like my battles I had in the Stan, like my maternal brother here now, and some of my friends. With each one teach one, you advertently/inadvertently become your brothers keeper by spreading positivity, giving knowledge and understanding, and belief in self. Rant over, Warden07 out

Bin Laden managed to escape Bush’s grasp so I don’t feel to confident that he would have been any better at catching snowden or that he was some kind of expert on foreign policy or military action. Wasn’t he the guy that said mission accomplished before we went to war for another ten years against an enemy as abstract as terrorism? With no plan or timetable for a withdrawl? All for weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist? You make it sound like we were out establishing a reputation as the baddest mf’ers on the planet. Our military reputation abroad was degraded under Bush’s presidency.

When Bush said “Mission Accomplished” he was speaking of ousting the Taliban from power. That was before we went into Iraq. Would those “people aka snitches” been able to pull that off, I doubt it, nor would they have wanted to be around long enough to find out. Remember during that time Bush did not play and didn’t believe in taking prisoners. If you are even in a fistfight, do you set a time to stop? Do you call time out? No, you keep going until the end, whether or not we think it was right or wrong, the bottom line we were there and had a job to do. We don’t have to establish that reputation, because it’s already well known. We don’t have to shop our wares to any country, but it’s awfully funny these others come to us for training, for weapons, and even try to hack into our systems. If you’re broke you’re not going to break into another broke persons house are you? We have without a doubt the most well trained and equipped military in the world; but those that will remain nameless don’t have the internal fortitude to allow is to take the kid gloves off and do the damn thing. No one likes the bully, yet everyone wants to rally around the wimp. We were envied before, respected, and like it or not, without the American military engine, not just the warfighters, damn near half of this earth would be speaking German, the other half Japanese. That’s an undisputable fact. Today, those in the know still respect us, still recognize that we are still the only superpower in the world, and when their sh*t hits the fan, we are the ones they are going to call on for help. No president can take away that fact no matter the arrogance or weakness shown by him or congress.

WE’LL SEE!! he goes hard for gays and illegals to get that vote… Now he’s finally actively and blatantly looking out for us after gays infiltrated my TV and the illegals took hotel and construction jobs from legal citizens, including mexican americans… we’ll see

Yea it’s pretty obvious that the only reason democrats or republicans give a damn about latinos is for the voting numbers. as far as homosexuality, they’re playing two different hands. The democrats are betting on a progressive society giving them the voting edge while republicans are hoping that the conservative anti-gay christian vote outweighs the progressive vote.

Also just thought I’d like to mention since Clinton was brought up that during his presidency we experienced the largest increase in federal and state prison inmates than any other prison in U.S. history. He also singled legislation that banned felons form public housing and any other kind of public assistance basically making it even difficult for ex cons to re-adjust to normal life. Any president claiming to be tough on crime is actually only ensuring the continuity of the self perpetuating prison slave system that has been destroying African American communities. At least right now the main stream media is bringing more attention towards this supposed war on drugs and mandatory minimum sentences. The justice department seems to be taking steps in the right direction as well.
