50 Cent: Jay Z Quit Competing With Me During My Prime

(AllHipHop News) In 50 Cent’s eyes, if men lie, women lie and numbers don’t, then he was the hottest MC from 2003-2006. During his appearance on Sirius XM’s Town Hall event last night (March 17th)  he spoke on how his greatest competitor quit during 50 Cent’s greatest run of success.

Ever since 50 Cent’s inflammatory “How To Rob” song in 1999, he and Jay Z have appeared on songs together, performed together and most evidently thrown subliminal shots at each other. After admitting that he believes there are subsets of the listening public which “follows trends” and no longer wanted to hear his music, he illustrates this point by explaining his rise to fame in relation to Jay Z’s retirement phase:

Where was Jay Z from 2003 to 2006? I sold 23 million records from 2003 to 2006. He stopped making music. He said ‘I quit. We’ll get back to what we got later. I quit. Timeout. I’ll come back to play later.’ When he signed that Beyonce contract he was like ‘men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.’

Later in the interview 50 Cent stated that the first record he made with an artist outside of New York City was with UGK for “As The World Turns” in 1998. He made sure to quip that “after I had got shot Jay did ‘Big Pimpin” with UGK. I don’t know where he got the idea from.” While “Big Pimpin'” was actually released in April of 2000, a month before 50 Cent was infamously shot nine times, 50 explains he continues to throw shots at Jay Z “You need someone to work off.”

During his interview with The Breakfast Club back in July of last year, Jay spoke on predicting the 50 Cent takeover of 2003-2006 and warning his own Roc-A-Fella artists around September of 2002:

I remember one time walking in the studio. It was like a small gap. Bleek, Beans. Everybody was in there. I was like, ‘Man, I’m telling you, man. Y’all better..y’all better…y’all got a change right now. Just flood it. Put out a lot of music, because 50 Cent is coming. You know, four months later, ‘In Da Club’ hit.

50 Cent’s full Sirius XM Town Hall Q&A will debut live on Sirius XM’s website, app and station on March 31st.

  • MrNoName2K

lol man you cant lie, niggas love to hate 50. That niggas mouth stay runnin!!

    • Casor_G

LOLhe brings the hate on himself

      • MrNoName2K

true that but he keeps the game interesting when its just on cruise control

  • Live Well

I guarantee Jay loves how 50 antagonizes him. Without 50, Jay would have nobody to spar with at all.

    • 5% Hov

      er no.

      • *Co-Sign

50 may be the best choice though.
        #MayweatherChet

      • Live Well

He’s the only other rapper who even tries Jay. Everyone else plays the role of Jay’s little manz.

    • Brooklyn Stoop

jay is sparring with corporate america

      • Live Well

True indeed, but Jay needs somebody to throw darts at. A huge part of his persona is the rich, dismissive “Big Homie”. 50 helps keep that going by playing the rich antagonist.

  • Brindle

“he believes there are subsets of the listening public which “follows trends” and no longer wanted to hear his music”… so true, so sad, so avoidable… if 5 of your top 10 favorite songs get radio play right now, you’re part of the problem…

  • godpleaseforgiveme

Wow 50 is saying Jay thought when 50 was hot Jay’s music was not the trend lol 50 makes sense but 50’s music now is not appreciated like it used to, when was the last gangster hit? or rapper? Rick Ross? lol he aint gangster he is gotten exposed, i would say 50 is the last one to make aggressive music, but 50 can make a comeback with that now since people are looking for anything though since everything soft now lol

    • King Flashy TheFirst

There have been many successful gangster rappers since 50.

      • SleepyTheGreat

Name three that went platinum off the cuff?

      • 5% Hov

        U right.

      • johnblacksad

        Name a few gangster rappers…

      • Sucess for a gangsta is defined as surviving.
        Their wealth is their freedom.

They do what they have to do, not what they want to do.
“if you’re going to be an outlaw, live within the law as much as possible.”

        ^^50 gets credit for that.
Street life rap is stale when you don’t live it or have to live it, according to the people who do.

      • King Flashy TheFirst

I could, but you will no doubt nitpick the list so in your opinion what defines a Gangsta Rapper? Every trap rapper from ATL should be considered a gangsta rapper.

      • True, but they are from from gangsters.

    • What’s he going to rap out?
His diamond falling out his doo rag while slapping Steve Stoute?

      Content?

A rich gangsta is a fake gangsta, because once a gangsta gets rich, he stops being a gangsta and enjoys his wealth.

      Doing drive by’s in Bugatti’s isn’t cool….or believable.

  • King Flashy TheFirst

50 really has no idea how to sell an album without trying to start shit with everybody in the game. It is actually comical now. This made sense in like 03′ and 05′ but for once just let your music speak for itself.

With that said, he does have a point to a certain degree, but Jay was not trying to beat 50 in 03-06. Its the tortoise and the hare. Thats why Jay is still at the top of the charts and the forbes, and 50 is nowhere near as relevant or successful as he used to be.

    • NEWSKULL

How is he starting shit if he is telling the truth… 50 never starts shit… NEVER…

      • King Flashy TheFirst

It does not matter if it is the truth. When Steve Stout was telling the truth 50 got upset and went to check him. Now 50 does the same shit to Jay. He is starting shit to promote his album like he always does. Just like he started shit with Jadakiss and Fat Joe.

      • Casor_G

Damn stop d-riding, he started beef with Fat Joe and Jadakiss

    • 5% Hov

Co-sign, but 50 has no reason to “analyse” Jay like and him are “peers”…. they aint.

Not even close. Money or talent wise.

    • Brooklyn Stoop

besides if you recap that era
on jay mixtapes he kept screaming he bout to get on his corporate take over ish

  • trilltalk1

    lol 50 a wild boy

  • Eny Daboss

no 50 you wrong… he meant dr dre and eminem are coming… cause you been rapping since 1995 and nobody knew it… say thx to DRE AND EMINEM… where you been since you started feeling like you a boss ????? nowhere…. grodt was a DRE product

    • Jayson C Williams

Lol Marshall was over dosing or making movies. They all got out of his way! And dre just wanted in. You know dre don’t produce dre produced 3-5 tracks at most and prob let his understudy finish most but he wanted in on this. Pimp was the only noticeable dre track. But that sound of that album was crazy SHA MONEY (go read your cd booklet) and those no name producers did their thing. Everyone got out the way after wanksta! Stop denying the facts give ppl their props and respect. He ain’t shit now but back than he was no.1 with no competition!!

      • 5% Hov

in da club and if can;t – we’re the lead singles – both dre produced – the Em co-sign meant it got worldwide play. U can;t ignore that.

Without the co-sign he wasn’t selling 1 million let alone 8 million.

      • Brooklyn Stoop

to add to what your saying.
somebody can say what your sayign is BS (in da club and the other lead single) but lets not forget that 50 used the same reasoning your using to diss game if you remember

      • Justmythoughts

This is true… I don’t agree with either premise, meaning 50 doesn’t deserve Games credit nor does “the Machine” deserve fif’s credit… but your statement is quite valid

      • Jayson C Williams

You’re right. But the album has 17 tracks.. Wasn’t a dre album, wasn’t his sound really.

    • Em = Dre (*Daz?*) project 2?

  • NEWSKULL

    True story…

  • TK

    Beyonce Contract lol

    • 5% Hov

      Shots fired

    • WeakSauce

I see what you did there lol

    • chippc

That flew over my head. What did Fif mean? Are people still inclined to believe they in fake relationship?

  • David Gonz

JAY WAS HIDING WHILE PAC WAS ALIVE TOO! HES A BITCH!

    • Antwon Grant

      ur delusional as shit lol

      • David Gonz

why cuz i speak the truth? gtfoh

      • David Gonz

JAY Z WAS OUT WAY BEFORE 96 BRO. YOU JUST SHOWED YOUR ASS LOL. LOOK UP HAWAIAN SOPHIE. THAT GARBAGE ASS SONG. JAY Z WAS SCARED OF PACS WRATH

      • Bumpy Johnson

jay z was also scared of E money bags..he a scary one

  • Ever since fifty left interscope he’s been talking all kinds of s**t

  • Jayson C Williams

Jays a smart dude. Exactly why he’s out lasted the rest! He is the strongest Titan of them all. I don’t like it but it’s facts. Talent, Timing, thinking..

    • That was some real pro non hater shit bruh….

      • Jayson C Williams

Bro I tell these few clowns on here u can’t blog and be a Stan! Have to be impartial, or why would anyone take me serious as a blogger or what ever. Facts are facts. Ppl on here dead ass be trying to re create rap history

    • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

      QUEENS! U BIT*H U!

      • Jayson C Williams

What’s good lil homie.. Feel better? Tell ya moms quit texting me

    • Raheem Classick

Gotta give you props on this post”

    • Bumpy Johnson

Jay Z been sold out, thats why…50 did too but jay was better at it

  • Oknas

Jay strategies everything, thats why hes still relevant, hes smart with his shit.

  • Oknas

Jay is the rap version of Kobe, longevity is their greatest skill.

    • Eli Pinilla

He’s the best at hopping trends but still able to be original within those trends….he’s still Jay but he knows how to move within the times…..

      • Jayson C Williams

Jay starts trends.. He may not wear or dress fly but cristal, ace of spades 2 ways.. Umm his most recent “swag” he started saying it on the blueprint now it’s in every teeny boppers to soccer moms mouth

      • I remember seeing niggaz rocaweared down to the floor back in the day too.

      • Jayson C Williams

We all were but not solely because of hov lol

      • Eli Pinilla

Exactly! He’s able to thrive during certain trends. Nggz was also rockin wu-wear, Sean john, and just about any other rapper with a clothing line. He didn’t start that trend though. He just peeped game

    • MrNoName2K

      true

  • SleepyTheGreat

50 states facts in every interview. Im pretty sure someone will be butthurt about the Jay-Z comment, but its all true. Jay even went on tour with 50 during “Get Rich or Die Trying”

Shady/Afftermath/Gunit ran 02′-06′. All those debut albums went platinum during the age of digital downloads. 50 cent is a villain and its good to see somebody accept their role and not dick-suck and back peddle in all their interviews.

    • Eli Pinilla

Shit, Jay did the reebok commercial with 50 and they executive produced freeways album together too…

      • SleepyTheGreat

Thank you! Finally somebody who remembers history beyond six months ago!

      • Brooklyn Stoop

so why you dont remember durig that same time jay was eyeing corporate america. you dont remember his Corporate Takeover freestyle off the reebok S.Carter mixtape. so if 50 really wanted to “compete” then he would be competing against Jay and Puff on a corporate level………….50 TRIED and went from top 3 (on forbes top cash cow list) to not mentioned at all

      • SleepyTheGreat

50 was #5 on the Forbes Rapper List in 2013 and hasn’t put out a album since 2009. So your not checking your sources.

      • Black Jay

Ummmm….. I don’t know what forbes you were looking at. Type in 2013 FORBES HIP HOP CASH KINGS in google.

50 Cent was number 19. One above Lil John. Sorry dude.

      • SleepyTheGreat

Dude type in 2013 Top Rappers Forbes. 50 is #5

      • Black Jay

I’m looking at the screen right now. You’re buggin’. 50 Cent is next to last. Stop working for his PR firm. He hasn’t been in the top 10 since the vitamin deal. That’s fact. Forbes.

      • SleepyTheGreat

Man you lucky they won’t allow me to post the link. He’s right after Birdman. The list goes as following
        1.) Diddy
        2.) Jay-Z
        3.) Dr Dre
        4) Birdman
        5) 50 Cent
Trust me, if I did work in a PR firm, you’ll know.

      • Raheem Classick

Both of you are right, 50 is #19 for money he made for the year, He is also #5 for his total money > Rounding out the list is Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson at $125 million./ To be fair 50 says he has A lot more then what is posted, But I’ll say this, You can’t make over $10.000 without the Gov hounding you, Unless its illegal money.

    • 5% Hov

Nah. 50 is a wise slick talking business man. Truth is his talent has not been consistent music wise.

Why would Jay ever need to respond after 50 lost to Ye in the sales week.

      • SleepyTheGreat

I think you missed the point I was trying to make. Jay is known for hopping of the gravy train when it starts.

      • johnblacksad

none wrong with that… who wants to hop on a train waiting to get wrecked ?

      • SleepyTheGreat

But your right, that was the biggest mistake of his career. IDK why anybody would challenge a “Producer” to album competition.
Im pretty sure I rap better than Timberland, but I would never challenge him. The man makes beats lol,

      • That shtt was all set up, like 50 said Ye gets the trophy, I get the checks…

  • Eli Pinilla

I’m not gonna lie, I love this shit. The bad guy won. This man can say whatever the f*ck he wants and do whatever he wants and can’t nobody do or tell him nothin. We root for movie bad guys and video games but we finally got one in the flesh and people hate that shit lol muthafuckas hate this man so much. They hate that he went after their favorite rappers and came out on top. He bullied these dudes then made a children’s book about the dangers of bullying Lmao he doesn’t have to sell another record and he’s won…..people hate muthafuckas they can’t bring down to their level…..even 50 is guilty of that sometimes….

  • johnblacksad

Hov been said UGK’s Ridin Dirty might be his favorite album…

I smell sour… is that you Fif?

    • Brooklyn Stoop

i knew you was gonna say that cause your a jay-z fan like me. only a fool will think what 50 said is correct

      • Raheem Classick

Being that you & johnblacksad are Fans of HOV, Do y’all feel like its A full time job to correct niggas who willfully post lies, misstatements and nonsense about HOV and Hip Hop in general, I know I do.

      • johnblacksad

        I don’t let none of them sh!ts slide… I stay correctin ninjas

I’ve peeped how slowly it became fun to ninjas to just diss Hov and try to diminish his accomplishments… smh

“I made it so, you could say Marcy and it was all good
I ain’t crossover I brought the suburbs to the hood
Made em relate to your struggle, told em bout your hustle
Went on MTV with do-rags, I made them love you
You know normally them people wouldn’t be fcukin witchu
Till I made em understand why you do what you do
I expected to hear, “Jay, if it wasn’t for you..”
But instead, all I hear is buzzing in your crew”

        You know..

      • Justmythoughts

Nice!!… A hidden gem off of that vol. 3… I say hidden cause most people who spew the “he stole (insert any rapper here)’s flow don’t care to listen to music but rather just skim through it

      • Brooklyn Stoop

speaking for my self i dont feel like that but its one of those things that you dont realize your doing it until it to late lol

but some of the stuff said is so crazy that it have to be addressed

    • Calico Joe

      And you believed him??

  • baller187

50 always talkin about the past cuz he cant get nothin goin on, just sit on your 100 mill you made 10 years ago nigga and let it go

    • 5% Hov

For Real without that water deal 50 would be dead ass broke.

Aint no-one drinking Street King or wearing them shitty SMS headphones.

Shiiiit. Even his boxing promoter business is losing money.

      • Brooklyn Stoop

50 is to stupid to realize that he got paid to destroy street rap. his “job” is done, now he will be in business deals that go sour to mess up his money so he cant go to places (or levels) that he used to be able to go.

      • SleepyTheGreat

        The hate is strong…

      • Brooklyn Stoop

no its called holding 50 to the same standards he created for the rest of hip hop

      • SleepyTheGreat

Naw your speaking on his business ventures like your in the meetings or something lol. That’s the hate I’m speaking to

      • Brooklyn Stoop

        okay guy

      • SleepyTheGreat

        Im not your guy, BUDDY

      • trilltalk1

he losing money on the boxing where did you here that? or is it just some hater shit you making up.

      • Sound like sum hater shit. I seen one of his boxers get murked a lil while ago, so if his boxers is boxing gotta be some kinda cake coming in.

      • trilltalk1

which one of his boxers lost?

      • I forgot dude name but 50 was there. His dude wasn’t a bad fighter he was just inexperienced. Lil work and dude would be nice but he went all brave heart and ended up wit the smelling salt. He had skills tho.

      • Maybe, but if 50 woke up tommorow with your money…he’d jump out of a window.

  • 5% Hov

Remember that week when people was Lil Wayne was the GOAT? lol

People got short memories. 50 needs put out some half decent music and music video’s that actually look like he spent more than $1000 on them

  • Ain’t No Future In Yo Frontin’

You can not hate on 50, he’s the real deal in every way

    • Yea but he as sensitive as Ya boi Drake at times….

      • Ain’t No Future In Yo Frontin’

He has to, and even you have to. Let someone call you a f4ggot, you have to whoop his ass. If you don’t, watch your reputation crumble .. Because everyone will try you from now on

  • Brooklyn Stoop

“Where was Jay Z from 2003 to 2006”

maybe im wrong but isnt this 2014…….
50 is asking were is jayz for 3 years. jay been in the game since before 96 correct? but lets say 96, so from 96 til now jay been doing his thing, thats almost 20 years and 50 wanna know about 3 years. so 3 years 50 had the game on lock
my question is this, what the hell was 50 doing from 2006-until now

leave the past in the past 50
    and stop talking ish
all that do is make people with a brain question your short career

  • Brooklyn Stoop

    what was jay doing 2003-2006?
was this the time when jay was on his corporate take over ish?

what year did jay drop dear summer on bleek album? and what was the year he dropped the free style on hot97?

what was the year jay dropped the s.carter mixtape?
why i ask this is 50 trying to make it like he did something………..jay was transitioning from being a rapper to a BUSINESS……………..man. jimmy Iovine really messed 50 head up with that Mr interscope crap.
when you hear a man (50) say he did what another man (jay z) did in less time when that man (jay z) is still doing what the other man (50) claim to have done then you know that man (50) is not dealing with reality

  • Black Jay

This is some inflammatory sh*t. Seriously. And everyone knows what it’s about. 50 is trying to generate interest in his records as he has always done. Taken directly from chapter one of “50 Cent Marketing”

    .
My guess is that Jay won’t bite. If he does he’s dumb. There is never a need to help an enemy kill himself if he is doing a good enough job by himself.

50 can reminisce about the glory days and such. Maybe what he’s saying is true. He was killing the game when he was on top. But the facts are pure and simple. He’s not there now and he will never return to that greatness. He had his day in the sun. And now he’s about to learn the hardest lesson of all. And that lesson is….

LONGEVITY AND GROWTH CAN ONLY BE ATTAINED THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND GOODWILL.

Welcome to class 50 Cent. You’re about to learn that lesson more clearly than most on the first week of your album release.

    • johnblacksad

Jay will say something back… in due time.
      He always does…

    • Jaymo

Totally agree with you, so no objection there (BUT) some place far away tucked in the back pocket of relevancy,….50 is making a great point IMO.

      Jay conveniently ducked him.

If it weren’t for the fact Jay-Z knew the rules to this game (chess) I’d completely take 50’s side on this point. He’s bitter because he was sooo close yet, still outclassed by Jay.

Both of these Black men are smart and know their stuff, and to your point, the difference is Jay plays smart(er) through building partnerships.

UPDATED: Just to add, 50 was much better off calling Jay out back then as opposed to now. He appears a bit desperate now.

      • I don’t think he ducked 50, how can you duck something you don’t see. I just think bruh wasn’t too worried about 50. Same way I don’t worry bout a thing when I’m concealing and carrying…

  • johnblacksad

Talkin bout where Jay was at… funny azz ninja… where are you right now?

Sheeeeeit…. in high school you was the man Fif.

  • Ion know about yall but who thinks 50 is even close to Jay Z musically? Other than GRODT can any of his albums stack up against any of Jay albums and u can pick whichever one you choose from J catalog…I’ll wait… you can go all the way back to reasonable doubt and fitty ain’t seeing the boy lyrically. I didn’t like Jigga in the beginning so I ain’t a Stan and I also like 50 ‘s music, I’m trying g to be unbiased but 50 ain’t fkn wit jigga on no level. I know jay lookn at 50 like my blue pit looks at my neighbors naggin a$$ toy dog. In other words he ain’t interested at all cuz he would shake the shid outta bruh….lol

    • Live Well

      Nah, he ain’t seein Jay.

  • El moreno de Queens #Dominican

Jay always does stuff like this if you look back. He sits back and watches whats going on and pays attention to everything and goes away for a bit then makes a comeback at the right time. His sneaky and very clever.

Look back at his career and your see some patterns.

    • Bruh shit always works tho….have u ever seen him flop? Not jigga….50 tho….

  • Jay been in the game for over a dub, you still can go back into his catalog and find gems hidden that you previously might have missed….niggaz must have 4 got. Bruh done outlasted all his competition or his so called peers.

    • Live Well

True talk. Jay is the Emmitt Smith of rap. He ain’t the most gifted but he’s the most accomplished.

  • I know niggaz gon hate this but I have to be honest to the best of my ability…..musically and just being real, 50 kinda lost when he battled that fat fraud Rozay too. So how in thee fk he gon see Shawn Carter? Yea he did more embarrassing things to ross with the baby momma sextape thing but do yall think he beat him musically during their lil sparring?

    • Live Well

50 didn’t lose to Rick Ross, he lost to everyone who felt sorry for Rick Ross. All I remember is a one sided slaughter by 50 between the cartoons, the spoofs, and labeling him “Officer Ricky”, which will follow him forever. People just got tired of the bully winning.

      • I’m talkn bout the songs they had dissn….Ross put that ish on his album.

      • Mr. Bang Bang

Ross killed him for real musically… 50 came out of character with that pimpin curly shit it wasnt even funny. Everybody talk about he a hood nigga this and that but you put on a jerhi curl wig like you a comedian. If he really had problems with ross he should have came at him like he did Ja, Steve, and Game

      • Hass

Agree 100. Fifty took that beef completely out left field. I thought it was a rap beef and he started doing pimping curly. And it wasn’t even funny at all. I believe Fifty knew he had nothing for Ross and did the best he could with the pimping curly. Just the way he was slaughtered by the Lox. He had no come back. Oh yeah he did that wack ass song I run New York. lol

      • Live Well

He didn’t take him serious enough to make it a rap beef because he was a cop tryna rap. That’s why he went with the spoofs. They were funny too. The net went crazy off them joints.

      • Mr. Bang Bang

I hear you man but who really took fif serious after that chet? Keep in mind thats when his career start falling off. The only joint i thought was funny was him commentating onross bm tape other than that nah

      • Live Well

Yeah, I agree he O.D.’d on the whole thing. I think it was a plan to humiliate Ross that backfired and ended up making him look like childish. Underneath it all, he didn’t realize there was a shift going on with the consumer too. They didn’t know/care about the old rules anymore, they just wanted the music to get them excited. They wanted the old guard in to move and make way for the new artists. In fact, there are very few artists from the early 2000’s that even were accepted by the new Hip Hop fan period. Ross benefited from all that.

      • Mr. Bang Bang

I feel that , but about these “New” Hip Hop rappers its definitely not Hip Hop tats in the face skinny jeans and saying the shit they say is ENTERTAINMENT. Like when WWF went to WWE

      • Live Well

Bruh, they from a different planet.

      • Live Well

I don’t remember anything significant by Ross. All I remember is he had the whole industry behind him and couldn’t barely go gold, and I personally think it’s because he was branded Officer Ricky.

let the hate on 50 begin. I have always maintained that J has never had his own flow, ts either he is on his b.i.g. flow or kanye flow or some linkin park ish or some beyonce flow. reason y n.y. seemed to warm up to him is that after b.i.g. they were lookin for a saviour for n.y. and jay seemed like a nice guy and he did that by bitin b.i.g’s flow and married like the hood’s favourite chick in beyonce. I respect Fif coz it’s either u like him or u don’t period there is second guessing where Fif stands on any issue…..JZ on the other hand is the king of subliminals….Fif did in a few years what it took J and Pdiddy 20 years to accomplish so i do not understand the hate Fif gets but hey..that’s the way it is.

    • I think it comes from some of the female like shit fitty does…He so damn drama’d out like ya mom’s favorite soap opera. Other than the childish shit he does I fks wit em. Just so yall know being shot 9 times ain’t gangsta, it just means niggaz was on ya bitch ass scalp and tried to do ya a$$. I digg some of his music and respect his paper making abilities tho no doubt.

    • Dubz

People act like 50 didn’t ride the coat of Eminem’s fanbase.

    • pauleyPee

You can’t have an artist backed by Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre, and Eminem, and claim that he was some sort of self-made superstar. That’s just ridiculous. 50 was huge, but from ’03 to ’06? Jay-Z sold roughly 11 million records if you include the 2004 collaboration with Linkin Park… So what is he saying when he says that Jay-Z disappeared? In the same time period he garnered control and ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records… And he also became president of Def Jam in that span, as we all know. So, I’m not sure what there is to hate. I guess I hate that 50 Cent is delusional. 50 probably should learn that success isn’t measured in record sales.

The funniest thing though, why are we talking about 2003-2006? How about we talk about right now… 50 couldn’t sell water in the desert. In the meantime, Jay-Z has put together a string of 15 straight platinum albums. So, like Jigga said on the Blueprint 3, “what we talkin’ ’bout?”

      • johnblacksad

“Fcuk what I used to do, I tell you what I’m doing right now!”
        -Styles P.

    • Sgt. H. Jennings

Well Grabo, why isn’t 50 doing it now? What’s the reason he’s not relevant anymore? He still makes music. He still does interviews. He still talk trash about other artist but the gimmick is up. Yup, he’s a has been… Nice run no doubt but those days are over… Jay still in the game and still killing it. 50 couldn’t sell 300 thousand copies today if he tried…. LOL….FACTS!

      • Live Well

        We’ll see soon enough.

    • Guest

Lmao this has to be the dumbest thing I’ve read today, don’t even think I can respond with proper points.

    • i’mreloaded!

      WTF? Okay dude.

  • Sgt. H. Jennings

Commercially successful 1996 to current….. Each and every single album put out was considered a success without a doubt. Some critics/fans liked this one better than the others. This one was wack compared to this one or that one. But still considered to have the most successful run in hip-hop to date. No other hip-hop artist can claim that status. No one. Not for as long as Jay has been in the game. Behind the scenes you have Dr. Dre and Diddy but as an artist, Jay holds that title. Facts. No speculating. 50 may have sold 23 mill in that time frame. But how many has he sold since. How many has he sold combined? He did come through hip-hop like a tornado but that storm has long since passed. Time for a new gimmick 50. Call it what you want, these are facts……. Dude as in Jay is still relevant. However he’s doing it it’s working..

    • pauleyPee

We know 50 cent is full of shi*. We know that.

    • Raheem Classick

Well done, But they frown upon #FACTS.

  • Chris

50 sounds like that n*gga at the barber shop that be like, “Back in high school, I had all the b*tches, bruh. Remember that time I scored two touchdowns in the 2005 homecoming game, bruh? Adrian Peterson almost quit football ’cause of me, bruh. I was that n*gga, bruh!” SMH.

If 50 cent actually stopped with the beefin and just make music his fan base might come back but every time you think he has fully matured he pulls everyone back into his childish shit. 50 cent still trying to play who can get the last word first shit. That why nobody can support your music because throughout all your rhymes at the end of the day gangstas dont cry like little bitch and 50 always reachin for attention.

  • Moe Hennessey

50 was that nigga was the man from The power of the dollar-the massacre and all the mixtapes were hot too. Well until D Block put a lyrical ass whoopin on that man.

  • Elayorx El

IDK, but interestingly enough, I’ve never heard 50 express this sentiment before now, and I know I saw this same comment from someone on here last week. Whatever the case, we all need to really grasp how politricks could play in the moves being made by certain folks, especially by those in the public eye. Jay reminds me a lot of Jordan, and it just so happens Jay looks up to Mike, which is why I always thought Jay’s “time off”, was reminiscent to Mike’s “time off”, during his first “retirement”. I could see Jay doing this around 5if’s meteoric rise, which would make no one any the wiser, because he was “going corporate”. To me, that would fly if he never came back, but he did, because it was all part of the “business plan”. Dude’s egos be that large, and then some, as we all know, so this is not an exaggeration, by any stretch. Jay has been like a sponge his entire career, similar to economists, venture capitalists, magnates, etc, and he made this clear in his earlier works, which is why I respect him a great deal. He stated what he was going to do, and then went out and did it. To date, Reasonable Doubt is one of the greatest debut Hip-Hop albums of all-time, rivaling your best choice for the top spot, if that is even necessary. 50 is good, but like Mike, Jay may have the single most greatest impact in Hip-Hop, in the culture’s history.

    • Raheem Classick

Well said, Now brace yourself for the hate that will come your way.

      • Elayorx El

He’s only using Jay’s name so that we read the article. Hey 50 you are no longer relevant so move along now. You are trying to bait Jay and I hope he sees through your crap. If he had any talent left he would have proved it in the studio. He is just a has been and needs to learn how to back his stupid yapping before he lets the diarrhea of the mouth gets the best of him.

  • water_ur_seeds

He’s made LEGENDARY MOVES, 5-0 is STILL tryin’ to sound relevant, JIGGA outsellin’ you in every way! Units, Tours, Merch, Licensing, Roster, Licensing, Endorsements………… WHY he needs to ‘talk about it’?!@!

    • DJ7

      Nas begs to differ….ijs

  • Thanx Nerve

Oh 50 Cent, LOL. When I was a fan of this guy I didn’t knew he was such an insecure hater.

I mean you can give him the money of Diddy, Jay and Dre but he’ll still be sad and angry. He can’t mind his own business and focus on it, he always has to talk about someone else. He acts worse than a jealous girl.
