Lil Wayne Says He’s Trying To Be More Careful On What He Raps About

(AllHipHop News) Last year Lil Wayne found himself in the middle of a controversy because of his verse on Future’s “Karate Chop (Remix).” The lyrics referring to murdered teenager Emmett Till were seen by some as inappropriate and offensive, and the line eventually cost Wayne his deal with Mountain Dew.

The YMCMB rapper now says he is more careful about what he raps about. In an interview with MTV, Wayne states that his upcoming Tha Carter V will be reflective of a more mature artist.

“I say it’s different, because I’m older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now,” says Wayne.

He continues, “I’m more careful about what I’m doing and trying to be more careful about what I’m saying. There were times where I didn’t care, and it’s not that I didn’t care. It’s just that I knew I had people above me or around me that was going to make sure whatever I said or shouldn’t have said. Well now, I’m those people.”

        U KNO?

  • Live Well

Give us that Carter 1, BM J.R. flow.

  • Reblogged this on HUEY mix wit RILEY.

  • Jakne

Carter II was the best of them all.

    • johnblacksad

      real real talk!

      • Jakne

I’m still bumping that cd. The lyrics are crazy on that lp.

      • SleepyTheGreat

Beat selection as well. I’ll be the first to say that Wayne sounds his sharpest on sample based production.

      • Jakne

Homie your on point, Carter II production brought his best out.

  • MrNoName2K

Id rather listen to a BIRDMAN album than listen to wayne

  • johnblacksad

Wayne’s sh!t just nice to the ear… for about 30sec. then you forget what he just said… especially when he goes on to mumble about another subject…

Basically his songs have no direction… he might have made an effort to come correct on a few occasions on the whole song, but for most part, his shit is all over the place…

    Guilty Simpson > Lil’ Wayne

    • Jayson C Williams

Don’t say that bro. I know he can be annoying ass little gremlin rapper. But before the rock and roll albums and the Emmit line, he was nice maybe it’s just his mixtapes, cause homie use to dumb out. I think after drake started taking over is when he started doing outrageous shit. Than came the gun case, so I agree he’s had the worse last 5 years. But he u can’t deny use to rap, and he was the best at some point.

      • johnblacksad

        You’re right… I was thinkin post-Carter 2 Wayne when I said that…

but somehow, his shit (I’m talkin bout his rhymes) have always been all over the place tho

      • Jayson C Williams

You’re absolutely right. He’s never been a great or coherently flowing well with his rhymes. U can always tell he freestyled. Because he had no thought process. But that’s what made him him. Ask norega he said Wayne was 1 taking shit after he dropped his second album. 1st was block is hot and I’m 1 year his junior! I wanted to be him lol..

      • Judah Nazayar

        NAW… ILL DENY THAT

      • Jayson C Williams

No offense but wasn’t asking you

    • I was at a kids party Saturday, & was about to leave, Pandora had the ladies grooving to his music, the kids too, but the lyrics were so offensive, I was ready to bounce.

I spoke up & they changed it & I knew I was OLD because of how uncomfortable I felt.

It was worse than what I grew up listening too, & I grew up on that “Give a Ninja that Mocha for stepping on your new kicks” type Hip Hop.

The crowd was younger, but what shocked me was no one else felt lyrics about “blowing kisses with your pu$$y lips” were inappropriate for a 5yr old’s B day party.

Not knocking them, but it was odd.

The party was off the hook though :)

      • johnblacksad

damn… they too young indeed to be listening or even worse, rapping along this stuff

      • Yeah, my kid looked at me with the ” >>>>> ” look.

When I was their age, the word BS was a big thing on a record.

“If i, if i had a million, million dollar, I wouldn’t take no more bullshit from anyone, not from the man, & not from youuUUOoooOOO…”

      • 5% Hov

Kids having kids. Some people so used to rap they forget this shot aint normal ….. censoring art is needed sometimes.

      • That was the shocking part.

When me, of all people object, ‘chet is fugged up.

  • PhilTheGreat

It’s crazy how he signs someone to YM and then either his or the signed artist’s style changes… Wayne currently raps the way Tyga raps now with his vulgarity and then a lil bit of flow like Euro. I remember when Tyga was rapping bout putting the lime in the coconut n shit…

  • 5% Hov

    Average MC at best.

(Looks around the room like he just discovered life on earth)…went to the library told me the book was late, i was like hater stop…(looks through studio glass at birdman beaming with pride)”
