KENDRICK LAMAR ADDRESSES TIME FRAME FOR RELEASE OF “GKMC” FOLLOW-UP

(AllHipHop News) It has been a fairly dry summer for Hip Hop album releases so far in 2014, but there were expectations that one of the most anticipated projects of the year would be ready for the masses by the fall.

Earlier this year TDE head Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith suggested the follow-up to Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed good kid, m.A.A.d city could arrive in September.

A release date was never officially announced, and now K. Dot is hesitant to co-sign the idea his next LP will drop that month. Speaking backstage at KMEL’s Summer Jam event, the California native covered the topic of his sophomore major label release.

“It’s in the process. We cooking,” said Lamar about his forthcoming album.

When asked about how close he was to releasing the effort, Kendrick was not at the point to give a definite time frame.

“I couldn’t say. I couldn’t give a false pretense on where I’m at,” said K. Dot. “I can’t even give a date or a time, but it’s going to be an event.”
