Second Shooting In St. Louis, Not Related To Mike Brown

(AllHipHop News) Another man has been shot and killed a few miles from where Mike Brown was slain in Ferguson.

St. Louis Police shot and killed a young African American male after he approached them brandishing a knife.

“The suspect, who right now is described as a 23-year-old African-American, was acting erratically — walking back and forth up and down the street,” St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said.

After he got with in about 3 or 4 feet of them, in a threatening manner, the man was shot to death. According to reports, the unnamed male had a history of mental issues.

He reportedly stole a couple of energy drinks and then asked for the police to kill him.

“Shoot me now. Kill me now,” the man said, according to police. The officers complied after the man seemingly ignored their requests to disarm.

Earlier in the day, the man has reportedly stolen two energy drinks.

No officers were injured in the St. Louis incident and the chief of police addressed the concerns of residents immediately after.

Im sure shooting someone (which I do not condone), in the foot, arm or leg is going to stop then from advancing at you. Why kill a person.

    • Ipullcards

      They just wanna kill. Cowards..

      • As much as I wanna argue this, they really not doing nothing to help themselves by shooting all these people.

      • correct

guy tries to take their lives, they take his..

      • Guy had a knife. they have tasers and are trained to do non fatal takedowns.

      • True, but they are also trained to employ fatal takedowns when life is threatened.

    • hoeyuno

Because Americas gun laws and the way non whites are portrayed in the media has these cops thinking everybody is concealing a pistol and they all want to shoot them(the police)…these guys can take all the two day courses they want to learn how to take suspects dpwn in non lethal ways but when ish doesnt go there way all that training goes out the window. .

      • If he were trying to stab you from 3ft away, would you aim with pepper spray or spray the Glock?

      • hoeyuno

Yea if there trying to stab you thats when lethal force is needed..but the problem in the states and even here is the police killing unarmed young men…and when they do take the tazor out they taze them until there heart stops beatin..see Robert Dziekanski who got tazored to death at Vancouver airport for reference..

      • The problem is dudes acting like it won’t happen.

The police are giving out that Mocha like Starbucks, so unless one is trying to buck back, compliance = smartest move.

      • hoeyuno

        Haha no doubt..

    Who’s Mike Ferguson?

Somebody explain coz i just dont get the knife vs gun thing.

    A common scenario…..

-Suspect- mentally ill man with knife charge officer and aim for throat or throw the knife aiming for the eyes and pray for a bullseye.

    -Cops- trained professional/backup/gun/baton/taser/cuffs/Armor vest
alternatives; to subdue & take into custody- use baton, taser, shoot in legs.
    in that order.

before guns there were swords and blades but then the White devil invented the GUN.
just don’t bring a knife to a gun fight….i guess.

    • Fugg all that other ‘chet, your last line said it all.

  • Markus

Police. Plural. Against a man with a knife with a history of mental health issues. Dude says kill me allegedly and they accommodate him. Now I have a big problem with this story. That man should still be alive. Sounds like that Eleanor Bumpurs case from back in the day. Pigs are notoriously lazy. They rather notch a kill than do actual police work and arrest the man. No baton no taser or bullet to wound and only injure and slow down? This one has a weapon involved so this was “justified”. Rest in peace and condolences to his family.

    • Immortal

That’s a lot to put on the police. IF he had mental issues, where was his family in all this? He wasn’t out there alone, so where are his “friends”? If we’re friends, I wouldn’t let you approach a cop in a situation like that. And it’s not like they would’ve known he had them until after the fact. There is also a thing called “suicide by cop”. Could that have been a factor? Can’t do warning shots because where are they going to land? Could he have been tazed??? Definite possibility, but as with the rest of these stories, there’s so much not being told vs. being told to stoke the fires.

      • Markus

Granted there’s probably a lot that’s not officially known as far as what took place but my opinion is that unless you have no other means of disarming and arresting someone, killing someone simply because you can shouldn’t be the only course of action to take.

      • 4ft away with a knife = Very little wiggle room.

      • phame

I actually saw the entire video (yes, there is video evidence online of the entire thing). The story is there. I hate to say it but unless you knew the kid had some mental issue, you could say that he was asking for it. Do I think that he should have been shot to death, no! Although watching the video transpire, wasnt easy because NO ONE stepped up before the police showed up to even attempt to talk down the man who was waiting for the cops. Everyone in that block was waiting for the side show…

How can we do better if we arent willing to step up to the plate when the time comes? Everyone cant be bystanders waiting for things to get better in our communities man. Thats some sitting duck s#!+ there.

      • Immortal

That’s what I’m saying. Folks “claim” to want transparency and honesty, but can’t be honest with themselves. I saw the video and what I noticed first was the cameraman was called from his house to videotape this. And when he got there, no one was trying to bring the man down. Where is the community outreach then? Dude actually looked confused pacing around those cans to be honest, so maybe there was a chance to talk him down.
On a side note, I know quite a few families with mentally ill members, and they are active in their lives. Hell even the neighborhoods they live in know that the family member has issues, and they look out for em. I find it odd there was no one there for this man. But the video only opens with that one person standing by filming, so I don’t know if anyone did come and try to bring him down.
As far as the police shooting him, he was given the chance to lay down multiple times and refused. He was presenting a threat to life and limb so in that, IMO the shooting was justified. You wouldn’t come to a knife fight with bad words and spit, so why approach a cop with a knife knowing they have a gun? Sometimes it’s best to listen to them (in this case) and live another day than to continue and wind up dead. The cops aren’t alone with the fault; the community failed this man.

      • phame

the community is too busy recording for the most #hashtags on Twitter and other social media. Think about it, now in days, you have more friends on fb, twitter, and IG than you do in your own neighborhood. How many people know all the names of the people who live in the house/apartment to the immediate left & right of them?

–“Neighborhoods are now hoods, cause nobody’s neighbors…Just animals surviving with that animal behavior..”
        – Stakes is High by De La Soul.

      • Immortal

NOW THAT’S THE TRUTH!! Yet that is one of the biggest failures with technology and it’s uses in todays world. The blessing and the curse.

    • No, Ms bumpurs ( 1551 University Ave / Sedgwick Houses ) was in her home when the police broke in and shotgunned the elderly woman over $412 back rent.

Eitherway, the human body can move 9ft in sec, so at 4 ft, that’s 1/2 second reaction time.

Just enough time to play for keeps.

      • Markus

I don’t think those numbers apply to a 70 year old woman with a variety of physical and mental problems. Grandmothers don’t deserve to be shotgunned to death.

      • If you know the name Ms. Bumpurs, you must be from the Bx.

I think Ms. Bumpurs was boiling lye / drano to throw on the cops, to protect her home, etc.?

The cops had shield, sticks & cattle prods, no doubt excessive, especially after the first blast blew off her hand.

Larry Davis told you the cops were corrupt, so being on some Rah Rah 1/2 way crook type ‘chet isn’t a good move.

Yes sir or no sir, or go all out like your 1st day off punishment.

What happened to warning shots? Shooting in the leg or arm? They go for head shot like its a video game?

  • EquinsuOcha

Cops dont know how to aim for legs anymore i guess

All trained to shoot to kill. Thats disturbing.

    • If he was 3-4 feet from you, ready to kill you, would you aim for his pinky toe or give him that MOCHA?

      • Immortal

Exactly. Roscoe would’ve been talkin. They told him to stop and he refused. I don’t know if that was a dare on his part, but he damn sure lost if it was.

      • Basically, I think he tried to press up on the cop like he was Superman, like he did the store owner & the cop turned that ‘chet into BuckTown!
