Nicki Minaj Says "The Pinkprint" Album Is Going To Be Important To Hip Hop

NICKI MINAJ: IT’S CORNY WHEN RAPPERS FEEL LIKE THEY’VE MADE IT & THEY DON’T HAVE TO PROVE THEMSELVES ANYMORE

The publication provided a sneak peak of the Nicki article. One of the topics addressed during the piece was the Queens rapper’s belief that Hip Hop is a competitive genre. She also declares her upcoming The Pinkprint album will leave a significant mark on the culture.

Billboard reports:

Minaj assures fans (and detractors) that her new record will be more than a victory lap. “It’s corny when rappers feel like they’ve made it and they don’t have to prove themselves anymore,” says Minaj. “You should always be competing. You should always be trying to show that you’re the best. My album is going to be important to hip-hop.”

This is not the first time Minaj has said she plans for her third studio LP to be a monumental moment in Hip Hop. In February, Nicki told DJ Drama that her mission was to create a classic album. The Pinkprint is set to include the tracks “Pills N Potions”,  “Anaconda”, and “Only” featuring Drake, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown.
