Ms. Lauryn Hill Reportedly Working On The Follow-Up To ‘The Miseducation’

WILL THE FORMER FUGEES MEMBER FINALLY DROP ANOTHER STUDIO ALBUM?

(AllHipHop News) The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time. The LP made Lauryn Hill into a musical icon, and it was the first Hip Hop album to win a Grammy for “Album of the Year.” Could a long-awaited official follow-up to the classic 1998 project be on the way?

Music producer Phil Nicolo spoke with The Fader. He revealed Lauryn’s recent work on Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone is pushing the star closer to a comeback. The compilation album was an accompanying piece to the Netflix Nina Simone documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?

Nicolo has been working with Ms. Hill, and he says the rapper/singer’s new work is musical, political, and personal. After a stint in prison and five years of touring, it appears the former Fugees member is in a constructive and creative mind state.

“When she was first getting back into it, there were times when she wasn’t as positive,” stated Nicolo. “But I think she’s in the best place I’ve ever seen her. She seems happy and very centered. When I see her, her face lights up.”

What Happened, Miss Simone? film producer Jayson Jackson echoed Nicolo’s current assessment of Ms. Hill. Jackson played a big role in getting the reclusive artist to contribute six songs to Nina Revisited.

“I can say this: I know creating makes her very happy,” said Jackson. “I couldn’t see her doing as much as she did [on the Simone project] in any state other than happiness.”
