Did Drake Respond To His New Alleged Ghostwriter?

OVO rapper Mo-G has been taking shots at Drake non-stop recently. He claims to have been hired to write and record Drake’s hooks, bars, and even come up with some new flows for the 6 God. Mo-G said he would’ve kept quiet but OVO didn’t want to cut the check. A small part of us wants to believe there’s some truth in here somewhere, but the other parts feel like how can you be hired as a ghostwriter when you are terrible yourself. It looks like Drake may have responded with a subliminal shot. Drake posted a photo with a caption that said,

“The bright lights are supposed to inspire you not fry your brain.”

Drake doesn’t seem to be too bothered by the rapper’s claims. Drake has to get past his alleged “writer’s block” though lol.

  • THE ALMIGHTY MIKEY ESCO!!!

    ETHER!!!! LMAO FK YO FEELINGS!!!

  • It’s looking more and more like Drake won the battle but Meek Mill WON THE WAR. N*ggas coming outta the woodwork questioning Drake’s status as a lyricist. Royce, a real lyricist, questioning Drake’s lyricism…. Wow. Who would’ve thought TRUTH from Meek would be more potent than a diss from Drake? This ain’t looking good for Drake man…

    • THE ALMIGHTY MIKEY ESCO!!!

THE SHEEP COULD CARE LESS THEY JUST WANNA SEE HIM SINGING AND TWERKING WITH RIRI!!! ROYCE IS GIVING US WHAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW!!!

        Reel Talk

  • Idiocracy

Man honestly I don’t care if somebody wrote that whole last album for drake…, I can clearly recall drake going on a straight two year run blessing everybody in the game wit heat…, up and coming and veteran artist… This just honestly looking like haters looking for a chink in his amor

    • StephenDedalus

why is it whenever a rap artist is criticised for their skills (or lack of ) certain people wanna call it “hating”.

What you call “hating”, we used to call HIP HOP.

If Drake doesnt have the skills or the bravery to go dozens without a ghost writer his fans need to deal with it and move on.

The game aint changed, just the spectators.

      • Idiocracy

You only criticize him cause you hate the position that he is in, that ain’t hip hop that’s hate hop

      • StephenDedalus

garbage. Ive no problem with his position. He sells, and will for the foreseeable future.

But facts are facts. He aint Hip Hop, and neither are his core demographic.

      • Idiocracy

He ain’t hip hop? Man dude some jump on a track wit anybody and everybody from every region and melted that bitch.., this the classic hate I’m talking about… This dude more than hip hop.., he graduated from hip hop wit honors get that hate out Ya blood stream don’t hate congratulate

      • StephenDedalus

“I love ya like millhouse love lisa/ i love ya like the ninja turtles love pizza”….. those are actual Drake lyrics from a Game feature he did on Jesus Piece. Did he melt that?

And as I said before, I dont “hate” on success, you just d$$kride it like it validates your opinion. Trust me son… it doesnt.

      • Idiocracy

You spit one line outta like thousands of bars this man spit… The crazy part is I’m not a big drake fan at all…,I’m more of a cyhi da prynce type of guy me myself I’m just real and I call it like I see it.., and yall be hating on dude like he ain’t put in that work,, I never bought a drake album but you can’t ignore dude went on a two year run blessing everybody in the game wit dope features and choruses.,, now since he on top now yall wanna question his pen game.. That just sound like hate to me

      • StephenDedalus

I think you’ll find the matter of this perceived “hate” is that he DOESNT WRITE HIS OWN LYRICS.

What is about this issue that you arent grasping?

First you say you “dont care” that he used a ghost writer…. you got called out.

Then you say you he “blessin” people with features… you got called out with his features

Now you say (again) that he still “blessin” people with dope features….

pay attention to the argument son.

      • Idiocracy

How I get called out.., it’s a fact everything I said is s fact

      • StephenDedalus

and your FACTs are being disputed, that he aint “bless” sh$t, other dudes was puttin in his work.

      • Idiocracy

You trying to ignore the facts, you wanna disregard his work cause somebody said he got help with one song., how many peor did he help with songs,, that’s what I’m saying

      • StephenDedalus

        wow… just…wow.

      • Idiocracy

This is for them niggaz that say that I don’t write enough.., they just mad cause I got the Midas touch

      • STEPH

Then your stupid. Probably still wear a Bib when you eat, I know you rode the short school bus now.

      • STEPH

Over 90% of people who’s into Hip Hop would disagree with you. When you say that it sounds like I’m hating…. You had to just learn the word (seriously misusing it) and your addicted to simply saying it to everyone. You are definitely in the minority when you consider Drake one of the best rappers homie Lol

      • Idiocracy

Just cause I stand alone don’t mean I stand wrong.,, I don’t care about public opinion I don’t buy into what the public likes.., I measure the game by my own standards and by what attracts me to the game

      • STEPH

That’ s fair some people are just loners….I’m not on that guy anymore I just peeped Scarface new video…..Real Hip Hop…..

      • STEPH

      • Idiocracy

And I clearly remember drake burning the likes of common soooo,, u hating

      • Bob Marley

      • Idiocracy

I ain’t no spring chicken I’ll tell u that,, and he got at that man I don’t care what you say.,, see the problem with ” hip hop heads” is anytime an artist reaches a certain level of success he is not acceptable anymore.,, yall hate success., that’s all

      • STEPH

You’re smoking that “Breaking Bad” homie…LOL!

      • Celz

      • STEPH

Stop it! You know nothing about rap music smh….

      • Celz

Common, Jay, and Ludacris sonned him.. Meek came back and evened things up.. Drake is a lame.. He won’t even address Kendrick, Sauce Walka, and Quentin Miller. He knows how to get high school kids excited. He deserves every cent he made, actually more because he’s getting raped at YMCMB.. But I wish the man all the business success in the world. He’s makin his own Jordan? That’s dope.. Way better than Kendrick’s shoes.. But as far as emceein? He’s not even eligible to be brought up..

      • Idiocracy

I agree with you.,, he ain’t got nothing for Luda in my book,,, but that don’t mean he can’t go wit the best and he can’t spit.., if you listen to what I’m really saying,,,. All I’m saying is even if a couple cats help him in them last songs you can’t ignore all the work he put in prior to that…, i said it and said it.., I’m not even a drake fan at all but I’m not going to discredit the man and the work he clearly put in..,, he didn’t get to where he got to on accident..

      • RazaBladeKing

How does that invalidate the criticism? Obviously, if a bum rappin in front of the train station is usin someone else’s rhymes, no one will care; we’re talkin about a grammy-winning, platinum-selling rapper that is often the public face of the culture usin someone else’s rhymes. Usin someone else’s rhymes “ain’t hip hop”. That’s the only reason why I criticize him. Well, that, and his music bein softer than kitten s***

      • Bob Marley

        Lmfao 😂

      • Idiocracy

        You praying on his downfall

      • RazaBladeKing

Nah, I’m prayin for world peace, an end to world hunger, clean water for everybody… you know, important sh*t. I’m largely ignoring Drake, unless his music gets forced on me. I’m pretty indifferent to it.

      • STEPH

        Well said.

      • STEPH

He’s not a rapper, he’s a performer, and you happen to be a fan of this particular performer.

    • STEPH

You honestly don’t care if somebody wrote his whole last album…LMAO! Shout out to your favorite performer smh. You sound like a newbie to this thing called “Hip Hop”.

      • Idiocracy

And you sound bitter in this thing called hip hop

      • STEPH

You just start listening to Hip Hop

      • Idiocracy

Stop bruh.., just stop you one of those backpack haters

      • Celz

This fool said backpack lmao.. You got Drake posters on your wall? Jay Z and Nas for sure ain’t “back packin” it..

      • STEPH

You really did just learn that word (not using it right but…hey)

      • Idiocracy

Ain’t nothing you can tell me about this game you just got a bitter perception

      • Celz

        You have alot to learn..

      • STEPH

Over 90% of Hip Hop fans would disagree with you

      • STEPH

I can’t be too bitter, because your alone in the ocean on this one homeboy Lol.

      • Idiocracy

I ain’t even a drake fan at all but if the man killing shit he just killing shit face facts

      • STEPH

        He’s killing other peoples shit

    • Savimbi

      FOH w/ that!!!!!

  • TheAfroRican

Let me see Drake freestyle without looking into a phone before I can consider him a lyricist. The Drake stans are going to use the “he’s got hits and money” excuse.

    • Jeff

90% of artists in the hip hop industry can’t freestyle off the top. I’m a big fan of King Los’s freestyles.

      • Chyze

I’m glad somebody said it cuz I come from a generation where battle rap was off the top 2 a random track the dj selected. Nowadays they write 48 bars per round and spit that. That’s not what a battle began as but we all hate on Drake 4 being different? Really. It’s a whole lot of sack riding in here lately. What happened 2 appreciating the music and the culture? Nyggas is PM Dawn soft these days.

      • Anthony Mason

Bars are bars. If somebody wants to challenge me on here cool…it’s a sport…

If someone is good and has bars I always rebuttal appropriately . Not just talking about some bull…

    • Boston80sbaby

See Drake is a wierd situation because the boy got bars at times. Since the whole Meek beef though, you never know if he wrote it or not. 6am in toronto is sick, energy, going in, there are MAD drake verses that are ILL and I always said he was a great lyricist. Didnt always care for the way carried himself or his persona but he had some flame songs / verses. Now its up in the air how much of what he wrote. So he got an * next to his name forever. Although, I dont think he really cares. He is just a entertainer in his mind I believe.

  • STEPH

Drake is a phony rapper, great performer (because he has his fans believing his bullshit)…They refuse to see through his illusion, a lot of his fans don’t know shit about Hip Hop.

    • Shock

Believing what? This nigga ain’t a civil rights leader, or a damn preacher. He’s an entertainer, and people like him because he entertains. I could care less about the other shit, because I listen to music because I like the songs, not the person. I’m sure most rational people feel the same way.

      • STEPH

A Entertainer can dance and sing, this nigga can’t dance (2 left feet Lol) He’s a performer….he performs others work really well LMAO! Entertainer LMAO!

      • Shock

He makes songs that entertains people…Lol. An entertainer is anyone who does something to entertain people. I think most people just want to hear nice songs, and don’t get caught up in the other shit. I don’t know none of these mfers

      • STEPH

He performs song for people that others wrote. Michael Jackson was an entertainer, Usher is an entertainer, Chris Brown is an entertainer, Drake is a performer.

      • Shock

Bruh you put more energy into hating Drake than most of his fans do into liking him. Arguing about the definition of entertainer? You got it.

      • STEPH

Fu-k Drake I am not even on that lame anymore just seen Scarface new video. #realhiphop

      • Shock

Scarface is one of the goats. You can like Drake songs and other rappers too, you know. Lol

      • STEPH

I feel you, I like his first mixtape …Although it had singing on it he wasn’t on that I’m the best rapper type bullshit. Really humble then….

      • Shock

Yeah I definitely prefer him rapping as well. The arrogant shit doesn’t bother me…I like my rappers arrogant lol, probably why Hov and Big are my two favs. And Face is aging well. Deeply Rooted is almost as good as The Fix

      • STEPH

True but Hov and Big were nice as fu-k as real lyricist

      • Shock

Drake ain’t in them niggas category, but when you get past the Canadian, soft shit, his songs are good. Whether he or somebody else is writing them, the end product is usually good. That’s all I’m saying

    • Boston80sbaby

Exactly what I said, he is a great ENTERTAINER, not so much a lyricist.

****Just saw your post about the difference of a performer or entertainer lol. I still say enterainer, but I see you.

  • Notsolucky

    RIP TO Rob Ford!

  • Markus

Today’s rap fan doesn’t mind frauds or ghostwriting in the game. And Aubrey will have his fans support him no matter what. Cheats rule everything around music.

    • Obi Won

I don’t even take today’s fan serious. Usually a good hip hop debates ends with them mentioning Asap Rocky or Drake. I don’t even get a chance to pull the big guns out.

Why fools believe everything people say with no proof he mad cuzz he ain’t shit if he would have stayed cool he probably would reap some benefits if he did write some of his shit.Oh well back to the slums for you nigga.

  • Boston80sbaby

Here we go again. Bottom line is, Drake is an entertainer. a GREAT one. He is not no lyricist on par with Nas, J. Cole, Jay,Crooked I, Joe Budden, Jadakiss, The Game, Kendrick, Rittz (Yes, I am putting him in this category of rhymers, the boy can spit) He is one of the best entertainers of the time though. He does not write ALL of his own raps. Neither does Dr. Dre, Kanye, and many others. They are great entertainers though.

  • Boston80sbaby

By the way, Meek came back strong as fu(k strating with the first 4/4 mixtape, Pray for em is a classic. The second 4/4 was 3 or of 4 songs of straight FLAME. Drake almost put him to sleep but so far in 16 Drake has been slowly getting exposed as a writer, but is still a great entertainer. Meek has crawled his way back into respectable category. IMO

    • Nightmare

Crawled his way back into a respectable category ? Is that why they’re starting to not support his music is various states such as North Carolina ?😩😩😂😂😂

      • Boston80sbaby

I had no idea, maybe the North Carolina, Michael Jordan, Drake Jumpman connection? And who was speaking for the State of North Carolina?

      • Nightmare

Saw it in a recent interview with 50 Cent and a radio DJ by the name of Greg “Money Man” Jones. It’s available on YouTube.

      • El Jeff

U new niggas kill me!! Calling a track that just came out this year a classic?? It was fire, no doubt, but the shit just came out! Classics are time tested my nigga

      • Nightmare

Ok, I’m confused. Care to elaborate ? Or was your response meant for someone else, and sent to me by accident ?

      • Dope

I think that was meant for the original comment which calls Pray for em a classic.

      • Nightmare

Ok. Because I certainly wouldn’t consider anything from Drake nor Meek Mills to be classic. Lol.

      • El Jeff

        For the other cat

  • HyPhYMAN

Of course this hoe ain’t bothered by this. He got a pass from all these idiots cause they let his ghostwriting shit slide. Y’all gassed this Canadian lame.

  • Q.

The appreciation of art and the over-appreciation of bullsh!t are both learned.

  • Sgt. H. Jennings

Michael Jackson used writers for most of his biggest hits. Man in the Mirror being one of them. Most of everything on Off The Wall and Thriller albums were written by other people. Both albums are his best work to date IMO. I don’t care who writes for and with Drake. If it’s hot which some of his music is, I’m listening. If it’s not which some of his music is, I’m not listening. It’s that simple for me…

    • Michael Jackson was not a hip hop artist. Furthermore, he wasn’t going around chest thumping talking about he was one of the best lyricists in the game. Drake was. So it does matter.

      • Sgt. H. Jennings

Why does it matter what genre of music it is? At the end of the day if it’s dope, I’m listening and I’m sure that’s the reason why almost everyone else listen to his music and anybody else’s music. But for the sake of argument,,, even with the alleged ghostwriting scandal or whatever you want to call it, Drake is still killing these cats in all aspects of the game as we sit here today. No arguing that. He’s one of the most talented cats in the game today. Whoever is writing his music is a lyrical and metaphorical genius. lol.. Fan or not, it is what it is….

      • The primary reason it matters, and nobody should need to tell you this, is because hip hop is the only form of music where lyrical dexterity is overtly on display and is an integral element of the identity of the musician. No other music form has this level of competitiveness. Period. So if you want Olivia Newton John or Nine Inch Nails, you can get that and that is a more perfect example of what you’re talking about. But this is HIP HOP. And like it or not, if you call yourself a hip hop artist (as Drake so frequently does) then you’re going to be held to that hip hop standard. ESPECIALLY if you’re calling yourself the BEST LYRICIST (which he has done on so many occasions). Don’t make excuses for him. The criticism is well deserved. No matter what a fan thinks. No diss. Just real sh*t.

      • Sgt. H. Jennings

The hip-hop standard? Please enlighten me on the “hip-hop standard?” Who does it apply to? Who’s adhering to this standard? I doubt you can or will but I’ll give you the opportunity to educate me. This is going to be good.. The floor is your my dude.

      • Rakim is the prototype… Nuff said. Nas was the person who most adhered to it. So is Jay Z.

      • Sgt. H. Jennings

That’s your opinion. Rakim is dope. He’s definitely an element of hip-hop but so is Biz Markie, Rock Steady Crew and Doug E. Fresh. Hip-Hop isn’t just about lyrics. Graffiti, break dancing and the DJ are all true elements of hip-hop in which they all came far before the lyrics came into play. Hip-Hop reaches far beyond the mic my dude. For a second I thought you knew that but you’ve made it quite obvious you didn’t. It’s cool,, at the end of the day we both appear to care a huge deal about hip-hop. That’s why we’re here right?? Good stuff above also. I completely understand though I may disagree, I understand.

      • Savimbi

Brah, gtfoh w/ that. you really are on a hip-hop site asking what the hip-hop standard is???? call yourself a casual fan then if you need someone to tell you what the actual hip-hop standard is. You new ni99as kill me smh!!!!

    • D_Ably

This the problem. Cats like you would buy a peedos album if it had good hooks.

      • Sgt. H. Jennings

It’s music… I listen to it for Entertainment Purposes Only. I don’t give damn what else goes on after that in that individual’s life. That’s on him or her. Not a concern of mine. You do it your way and I do it mine.. Isn’t that fascinating? lol

    • No diss to you but you need to reclassify yourself. You are a typical music fan. Since you hold those views then it’s safe to say you are not a part of hip hop culture. You just reduced yourself to being a visitor. Why? Because being an active participant of this culture means that you respect the art form and you respect the definition and rules set forth by the elders, history and examples. Hip hop culture has CLEARLY defined what an emcee is.

You’re reckless in your wording. The very fact that you’re comparing Drake to Michael Jackson within the realm of hip hop is an automatic disqualifier. Granted, I think Drake belongs in that same category of being an entertainer. But that’s not because I ever considered him an emcee. I didn’t. He’s not. Drake and Rakim can never be discussed as artistic colleagues. They aren’t. One writes his own sh*t. One sings too much and has ghost writers. I respect hip hop’s definition of what an emcee is and Drake doesn’t fit it. Your position is valid outside of the realm of hip hop. But when you enter the realm of hip hop, the definition is concretely defined. Drake is not hip hop.

      • Sgt. H. Jennings

The comparison between the two was geared around the usage of a ghostwriter for an artist at the top of their game. Definitely not comparing them to one another in terms of legendary status. We all know MJ holds that title in terms of entertainment value. Come on dude,,,,
