(AllHipHop News) The acclaimed Broadway play Hamilton has earned another distinguished honor. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hip Hop musical about America’s first Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton had already won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and the show has now been awarded the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for drama as well.

The Pulitzer Prize is awarded for achievements in journalism, literature, and musical composition. Winning a Pulitzer is considered one of the most prestigious accolades in the country.

Hamilton was selected over fellow finalists The Humans by Stephen Karam and Gloria by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Besides the Pulitzer and the Grammy, Miranda has also won multiple Tony Awards for In the Heights.
