Vince Staples Offers Support For North Long Beach Youth Program

THE “NORF NORF” RAPPER IS GIVING BACK TO HIS HOMETOWN

(AllHipHop News) Vince Staples is giving back to his hometown. The California rapper is part of a group supporting a new Youth Institute in North Long Beach.

According to the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the “Norf Norf” performer donated to the YMCA program designed to help eighth and ninth grade students learn filmmaking, graphic design, music production, 3D printing and product design.

“I think the most important thing is opportunities,” said Staples. “What I can say is, living over here my entire life, I’ve never had an opportunity given to me from the area, only examples of how to mess up, and what I didn’t want to do.”

City officials have allocated $10,000 for the initiative. Long Beach Unified board member Megan Kerr insisted the Youth Institute will highlight STEM education as well as social and emotional learning.

“It’s important that we work together to support and educate our young people on being good citizens, as well as providing a safe space for them to thrive,” added Kerr.
