The Weeknd Reportedly Donated $250,000 To The Black Lives Matter Organization

THE SUPERSTAR IS HELPING TO COUNTERACT POLICE VIOLENCE

(AllHipHop News) According to reports, The Weeknd recently donated a quarter of a million dollars to the Black Lives Matter network.

Fader claims to have two sources that confirmed the Grammy-winning superstar gave $250,000 to the organization started by Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, and Alicia Garza.

The group’s stated mission is to build connections between black people and allies to fight anti-black racism, spark dialogue among black people, and to facilitate connections to encourage social action and engagement.

The Weeknd previously addressed the Black Lives Matter movement and the issue of police violence in a July 7 tweet that read, “enough is enough. it’s time to stand up for this. we can either sit and watch, or do something about it. the time is now. #blacklivesmatter”

The message was posted the same week Alton Sterling was killed by a police officer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Philando Castile was killed by a police officer in St. Paul, Minnesota.
