Desiigner Talks Being An Artist Not A Rapper In Tidal’s “DNA” Series

THE BK RHYMER SHOWS LOVE TO HIS G.O.O.D. MUSIC LABEL

(AllHipHop News) Desiigner has no problem adopting the use of melody and incoherent lyrics in his music. As a result, the Brooklyn rhymer caught heat from some critics for not embracing a more traditional rap style.

As the latest subject of Tidal’s “DNA” video series, Desiigner spoke about his love for singing. The “Tiimmy Turner” performer also explained that he does not view himself as a “rapper.”

“None of my dudes I chill with are rappers. I don’t put us as rappers. We’re all artists,” stated Desiigner. “In the G.O.O.D. Music camp, we all come around and we show ourselves and present ourselves as artists only.”

The creator of the #1 single “Panda” added it is a “blessing” to be around the acts on the G.O.O.D. Music label. Desiigner, Pusha T, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, and others are among the people signed to the Kanye West-founded imprint.

Desiigner will also hit the Tidal Stage at the Made In America festival this weekend. Other rising acts set to perform in Philadelphia include Manolo Rose, Levi Carter, Lil Yatchy, Dave East, Sir The Baptist, Bibi Bourelly, Sophie Beem, and several more.
