De La Soul’s Career Chronicled In New Mass Appeal Documentary “De La Soul Is Not Dead” (VIDEO)

THE HIP-HOP LEGENDS’ GREAT RUN CONTINUES

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop legends De La Soul and their rise to the top has now been chronicled by Mass Appeal in the documentary De La Soul Is Not Dead.

The new documentary takes it all the way back to the beginning in high school in Amityville, Long Island, featuring the “Hippies of Hip-Hop” shopping a demo to Tommy Boy Records, before hitting it big with the classic tune “Me, Myself & I.”

It has now been 27 years since the group released their debut album 3 Feet High and Rising, 25 years since De La Soul Is Dead, the group’s sophomore album, and 20 years since Stakes Is High, their first project without Prince Paul at the helm and the music just keeps on coming.

Last week De La Soul’s latest release, And The Anonymous Nobody shot to the top of the Billboard Rap Albums Chart with features from artists such as Snoop Dogg and David Byrne.

The group was also recently the subject of another documentary We’re Still Here (now), which chronicles the creation of their latest album #1 album and The Anonymous Nobody from its funding through kickstarter to the fine tuning of the LP before its release.
