(AllHipHop News) Kid Cudi once again brought up the conversation of rappers using other people to write their rhymes in his now infamous Twitter rant which called out Kanye West and Drake.

“Everyone thinks they’re soooo great. Talkin top 5 and be having 30 people write songs for them,” posted Cudi. He added, “My tweets apply to who they apply. Ye, Drake, whoever. These n-ggas don’t give a f-ck about me. And they ain’t f-ckin with me.”

While at the BET Hip Hop Awards, Harlem emcee Dave East was questioned about Cudi’s comments. Tracy G of Sway In The Morning asked the 2016 XXL Freshman class member for his thoughts on the subject of rappers using a lot of co-writers.

“I’m sure you saw Cudi on Twitter. He had some grievances he wanted to air out. He said, ‘You can’t be top five if you got like 30 writers for you,'” said Tracy.

“That’s true,” replied East.

The signee of Nas’ Mass Appeal Records continued, “I feel like a lyricist is somebody that writes their own lyrics. Songwriters and lyricists is two totally different things… I feel like you can’t really be a lyricist if you didn’t write your lyrics. It’s no passion. It’s nothing in it coming from you. It’s somebody else’s feelings, and you’re just taking it and running with it.”

Dave East was also sure to declare, “I write all my own music. Everything.”
