Big K.R.I.T. On Going Indie: Def Jam Left Me In The Dungeon (VIDEO)

THE MISSISSIPPI REPRESENTATIVE SITS DOWN WITH ‘THE BREAKFAST CLUB’

(AllHipHop News) Big K.R.I.T. is officially an independent artist.

In July, the Mississippi representative announced he parted ways with Def Jam.

The Breakfast Club caught up with K.R.I.T. to talk about his departure from the major label.

“They left me in the dungeon as a dragon. It was cool,” stated the rapper/producer. “They just forgot about me, so I crept up out that thing. And I’m free.”

During his time with Def Jam, K.R.I.T. released the albums Live From The Underground and Cadillactica.

Both LPs were critically acclaimed, but neither project were huge commercial successes.

K.R.I.T. is now advancing his music career through the indie route.

“It was a blessing for me to be able to walk away independent, own all my everything,” explained the performer. “From this point on, it’s partnerships. You can’t just sign Big K.R.I.T.”
