Sevyn Streeter Reflects On Being Blocked From Singing The National Anthem Over “We Matter” Jersey (VIDEO)

THE SONGSTRESS SITS DOWN WITH DJ SMALLZ

Sevyn Streeter is speaking out about the Philadelphia 76ers’ decision to not allow her to perform the national anthem .

The NBA organization blocked Streeter from singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” because she was wearing a jersey that had the words “We Matter” on the front.

“To not be able to do it simply because my jersey said ‘We Matter,’ it hit me in a completely different way,” Streeter told DJ Smallz. “It really did break my heart. I don’t really no much else to say about it other than it was a really unfortunate situation.”

The Sixers later apologized to the Florida-raised songstress.

Streeter expressed she was most disappointed that her fans in Philly missed an opportunity to spend time with the artist.

“There was a whole contest for fans to come and watch the game with me, so it wasn’t just about me,” Streeter explained. “I wasn’t the only one that they let down. Those are my fans they let down and affected.”
