Rap veteran Slick Rick has teamed with music industry executive/veteran Wendy Day to produce a new audiobook “How To Get A Record Deal.” The book was written by Wendy Day on behalf of her organization, the Rap Coalition, which educates rappers, singers, and musicians on how to build a sustainable career in the music business. The pair have been friends for many years and when Slick Rick realized that Wendy had a book to help artists, he decided he wanted to be the voice of the audiobook. “Wendy Day is one of the people I’ve trusted in my career,” Slick Rick told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “She gives it to you straight and she gets the job done. We share a passion for helping artists excel.” “How To Get A Record Deal” is broken down into 26 chapters, which are also featured in the audiobook version. Both products explore a number of topics including, how to monetize music, dealing with record labels, the types of record deals you should sign, 360 degree deals, how to market to fans, and more information on what you need to succeed in the music business.
