Mixtape master J. Period has teamed up with Hip-Hop diva Lauryn Hill to present "The Best of Lauryn Hill" (hosted by Lauryn Hill).

The mixtape, a double CD collection, features over 80 tracks of remixes, concert performances, personal commentary and interviews from Lauryn herself.

J.Period explained that it wasn't so simple to get a hold of the elusive Lauryn and convince her to host the tape.

"It took a great deal of additional conversation with her after we met in person before she fully opened up to what I was trying to do,” J Period told AllHipHop.com. “I get the feeling a lot of people have tried to manipulate her fame and success, so it was important to me that I find a way to let her know that my intentions were genuine and that I was doing this for the love of her music."

"The Best of Lauryn Hill" has already been named MTV Mixtape Monday's Top Pick and follows in the footsteps of J's previous "Best of Nas" and "Best of Big Daddy Kane" releases.

Says J, "There is really no way you are not gonna like this CD. That's not on some ego s**t, that's from one fan of her music to another. This s**t is hot."

Features on the album include Buju Banton, Mos Def, Q-Tip, Black Thought, Nas and others.

The compilation also includes two exclusive tracks called "Killing a Sound Boy" feat. Buju Banton, Steele (Smif-n-Wessun) and Lauryn and "Like Water (remix)" featuring Common, Black Thought and Ms. Hill (produced by J. Period).

Recently, Ms. Hill performed at the Vibe Musicfest in Atlanta and the entertainer offered a unique, but odd performance according to eyewitness accounts.
