A second man has reportedly surrendered to authorities in connection with an ongoing rape investigation involving the DJ who inspired rapper Hurricane Chris’ hit song “A Bay Bay."
Shreveport, La., authorities were searching for Ronald "DJ Ron" Johnson, who is wanted on a warrant for simple rape in the assault.
The 34-year-old turntablist was expected to turn himself in on Monday (Aug. 6) but failed to appear before police.
According to Shreveport police spokeswoman Kacee Hargrave, Johnson is on parole for drug charges.
Johnson surrendered last night and he was charged with one count of simple rape and is currently being held on $250,000 bond.
Johnson’s surrender is the latest chapter involving K103 Tha Beat radio personality DJ Bay Bay.
The DJ, (born Terrance Stewart) was arrested Monday and booked into City Jail, where his bond was set at $150,000, said Hargrave.
He is charged with one count each of simple rape and intimidation of a witness, she added.
The charges stem from an incident involving a woman who was found lying drunk and unconscious about 4 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 2) on the second floor of Kokopelli's night club.
The woman, who was found by an employee of the club, was treated at LSU Hospital.
According to KSLA Local News 12, police believe she was raped late Wednesday (Aug. 1) or early Thursday.
"I'm not sure if the sexual assault happened after she was drunk or before she got drunk," Hargrave told News 12. "We are continuing our investigation, more arrests are possible."
Stewart's attorney, Eric Johnson, disputed the charges in a prepared statement, saying his client is “innocent of these charges and intends to vigorously defend himself against them. We are very confident that after the case is tried by a judge or jury that Mr. Stewart will be exonerated."
Although he is a local fixture, Stewart recently gained national fame for being the inspiration behind "A Bay Bay."
The song, which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July, currently sits at No. 10.
The new charges mark Stewart’s latest encounter with the law.
According to City Jail booking records, the DJ has a history of arrests pertaining to charges of simple battery, aggravated assault and traffic violations.
