Saturday Morning Cartoons With Illseed - Part 3
Published Saturday, December 01, 2007 9:30 AM
By illseed
Let me run this down, I love cartoons! Well, not so much now as I used to, but they are deep in my heart! Now, there are some that I loved and there are some that others loved. This is dedicated to the people that gave me their suggestions when I didn’t necessarily love or remember the cartoon.

Now, I had to study some of these for history and relationships to others. Now, we can talk about it, but my views are just that - mine! I welcome all of the views. Let the story begin...

Also, all the folks requesting the funny cartoons like Tom and Jerry and The Flinstones…I GOT YA BACK next week as I get deeper than the sea floor traveled by the mantis.

Click here for the first installment of Saturday morning cartoons and Click here for the second installment.

GRANDIZER!

“Grandizer” (Force Five) is a cartoon that I never heard of before, but realized that I probably should have. Thanks Vaughn. This reminds me of the Shogun Warriors and, after I did my research, I found out HE WAS! The Shogun Warriors were toys and they consisted of Grandizer, Raider, Gaiking, Raydeen, Great Mazinga and Dragun. Great Mazinga was my homeboy, but no hate to Grandizer. Check out the cartoon below.

TRANZOR Z! (WACK!)

OK, quote a few cats requested Tranzor Z in this cartoon series. Well, if you took a gander at the previous cartoon, you would realize why I didn’t even bother to mention Tranzor Z! HE’S A FRAUD, A FAKE, A PHONEY! He always reminded me of Great Mazinga actually so I had to hate on him! Fast forward to 2007. It looks like Tranzor Z was the American translation of Great Mazinga. Compare the two and tell me. (I didn’t know – I was a kid!)

TRANZOR Z

GREAT MAZINGA (In this, Mazinga Z gets destroyed and soon becomes Great Mazinga)

PLASTIC MAN!

Now, I admit I have debated on “Plastic Man” for a couple of weeks now. I have to admit that he’s another biter and that Reed “Mr. Fantastic” Richards of the Fantastic Four came first. Shout out to Sue Storm, Johnny Blaze and Ben Grimm. Anyway, check out the one and far from only “Plastic Man.” (Shame on D.C.)

HULK HOGAN KNOWS BEST!

Bones Two send me this one on Hulk Hogan! Hulkamaniacs standup!

MR. T’S CARTOON!

Hulk Hogan reminded me of Mr. T so, I’m not going to front on my homey, Mr. T! In fact, read this interview of Mr. T from back in the day on AllHipHop.com.

THE NEWER ADVENTURES OF MR. T…this is a parody that I decided to include. “I’m back and I need work!”

SPACE GHOST!

I got nothing but love for Space Ghost, who is the man. He’s so dope that he went from a super hero to a talk show host later in life. Check him out right here. Word to Jace and Jan.

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS

I have to admit, I was never into this so much, but since Randy V.A. was, I gotcha bck homey.

SILVERHAWKS!

No hate to the Silverhawks, other than this is where the Americans step in to the picture. It was clear that this was created for Americans. Nothing wrong with that, but it had clear Japanese influences. All good. Check them out! (Shout out to Nefarious Villain!)

STAR BLAZERS!

Here is a five-minute clip of “Star Blazers” when they used their “wave motion gun.” Homey, nobody wanted it with the “wave motion gun.” It was so strong, it could blind you if you didn’t have googles and then destroy a whole island! Check it:

THE X-MEN - This got the juices flowing!

Come on! Give me some of the ones you want to see in the next one.

TOMORROW, WE LOVE YOU!

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!

Sean Taylor Suspects Story updated at 10:15am Eastern Time

Three of the four men accused in the home invasion robbery shooting death of Washington Redskins football player had their first court appearance in Lee County via video conference at 8:30 this morning.

Each are charged with burglary, home invasion robbery and first-degree murder while in the commission of a serious felony, according to Fort Myers attorney Wilbur Smith, who is representing suspect Eric Rivera, 17. The other suspects are Venjah K. Hunte, 20, Jason Scott Mitchell, 19 and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18.

Mitchell did not appear in court, and Smith speculated it was due to the fact that he was processed later.

Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, Smith said he had known Rivera and his family for many years.

"It's an indescribable tragedy for the Taylor family, and it's a tragedy for the families of these other young men because their lives are down the tube," Smith said. "It's just another tragedy out of Dunbar."

Smith said some media reports have pegged Rivera as the person who pulled the trigger of the gun that killed Taylor, but he had not yet spoken extensively with his client to confirm whether that was true. While it's not clear whether Rivera was one of the suspects who reportedly confessed, Smith did say Rivera was questioned all day Friday and had not slept when the hearing occurred. He said his client was remorseful.

"Yes, you could see it in his eyes," he said. "And his family has expressed remorse to the Taylor family."

Rivera, who is a juvenile, will likely be charged as an adult by Miami-Dade police, but because of his age would face a minimum mandatory of 25 years to life in prison rather than execution.

John Evans, another Fort Myers-based attorney, is representing suspect Wardlow. He said a probable cause affidavit indicated Wardlow was one of the suspects who confessed. He said it's likely all four suspects will be transported to Miami on Sunday. He also said there is a "big possibility" others were involved in the killing.

Smith said he expects a "speedy resolution" to the trials of those allegedly involved.

"Don't expect this to be a long, drawn-out thing," he said. "Because there are confessions, I believe this will be quickly resolved."

Check news-press.com for updates on this developing story.

9:24 a.m.

By 5 a.m. three of the four suspects in the shooting death of Washington Redskin's football player Sean Taylor had been charged.

Charles Wardlow, 18; Venjah Hunte, 20; and Eric Rivera Jr., 17, all of Fort Myers have each been charged with burglary, robbery and murder.

A fourth suspect, Jason Scott Mitchell, 19, of Lehigh Acres, as of 8:50 a.m. had not been charged or booked into the Lee County jail.

According to reports:

The three were each charged with (all are felony counts):

• One count burglary dwelling structure or conveyance armed

• One count robbery - home invasion with a firearm or other deadly weapon

• One count murder not premeditated during other felony

No information was available on Mitchell.

The three are expected to make first appearance at 8:30 a.m. In Lee County.

Man  since we on Saturday mornings and the cartoons, man that justice league with Darkseid was hittin hard as hell. That's when they got past all the bullshit and got rid of the Wonder Twins and got down to business with Cyborg and Firestorm- the due who was the college student and professor combined. HE was the first fusion dude that I remember.  But Spiderman and his amazing friends isn't getting the props they deserve, on some real talk Lou Ferrigno and the Hulk that was on tv was that real.  Everybody knew when Bill Bixty got fired on he was gonna twitch and turn around and his eyes was gonna be all ghost like and it was about to get real hectic in the building. But not only was Saturday morning cartoons that shit but after the cartoons Godzilla dnd Kung Fu Theater used to come on and all kinds of hell would break loose. MAn I remember chilling in the crib all day saturday cause all the good shit used to come on tv.  When Bruce Lee came on you had to get quiet in the room so you could just hear niggas flying around and the screams and shit when he would punch people in the face and leave that bruise mark on they face!

yo, i just watched the mazinga jawn.

that shit and the other one grandizer was very official.

but yo, the japanese mazinga jawn where he dies?

classic.

peep how they had blood in the cartoon.
you never see that and it woulda grounded me in reality as a kid if I woulda seen it back then.

as in "hol' up, you really can get fucked up flying these giant robots an shit. it ain't all fun and games and triumphant music after we slice the alien in half."

that reminds me of when optimus died.

serious shit.

honestly?
I think that was one of the moments when i started growin up as a kid.

yo, illseed, throw up the clip of optimus' passing to show the dramatic range these masterpieces had.

they also had their science mastered.
primary colors red blue and yellow for the hero.

secondary, grays purples and greens for the heavies.

classic.

yo, I know this a silly question, but in a five way death match between mazinga, grandzier, lions voltron and cars voltron and tranzor z,  who comin out on top?

I know lions voltron is the easy choice.

but some of these other dudes got more weapons...

speaking of which yo did y'all see the voltrons?
as in voltron reeboks?

http://www.myairshoes.com/reebok/reebok-voltron-v-pack.html

http://www.karmaloop.com/popup/zoomtest.asp?ProductID=30027&VendorCode=REE#

it's easier to get the blue, green and yellow ones
but the black ones and the red are a lil harder.

I totally agree because a lot of these young niggaz are imitating a lot of shit the older niggaz actually experienced..They were raised by the music and don't really understand the other side to the shit they are talking about because the majority of them haven't lived that life..It's like listening to someone with no hands on knowledge trying to give their opinion to someone that actually lived through the shit...That's a big part of the reason they look so ignorant to our generation..

I forgot all about dungeons and dragons man I loved that show.  Remember the Nintendo cartoon That was the stuff, or the cartoon with Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, and Wayne Gretzski?  I think it was called All-Stars.

Yo, yo I got that heat for you now Illseed. Ya'll remember when Atari took over and they had a Q-bert and a Pac-Man cartoon.  Ahh those shits was horrible.  Another crappy cartoon was Robocop. That show was garbage.  What was hard as hell was the Thing has his own cartoon where he was a regular dude and he made some kind of call and rocks would all come piling on him and then he'd turn into the Rockman Thing.  I know that's a classic gem right there.

I'm lovin' these cartoons! Illseed you've had the best idea in the world.
I forgot all about the Prostars, heck i forgot about Bo Jackson! lol
Captain Planet was easily the worst cartoon ever.
The Littles takes me back.
There was "My Pet Monster" and that Mario Brothers cartoon, I used to watch Ghostbusters and GI Joe. Astro Boy was pretty bad too.

You know that most of those joints are anime right? In the 80s(and previously) US companies took great Japanese shows and butchered them for American consumption. Speed Racer for example is Mach Go Go Go, Voltron was a combination of Golion and Dairugger XV it was then edited and basically rewritten for American audiences. The worst offender however is Robotech. Its a combo of 3 unrelated shows, the shows were The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada. If at all possible check out the originals and you'll have a better appreciation for them.

yo, illseed. after like one or two more of the saturday mornin cartoon segments, you're gonna hafta go into the saturday afternoon Kung-Fu Korner.

That's right.

I'm sure that you know by now that Hip Hop and Kung Fu Movies go hand in hand.

you can start off easy with like 5 fingers of death (king boxer), and some Bruce Lee classics like Chinese Connection (fists of fury) and then dig in the crates with Angela Mao.

Born Invincible.

Some Donnie Yen Ji-Dan.
Sammo Hung.
Cynthia Rothrock.

Can't forget the Venoms.

Gordon Liu.

Jackie.
etc.

You know what I'm sayin.

Captain N: The Game Master was dope.  Inspector Gadget was nice.  Captain Planet was the cartoon nobody liked but watched anyway.  Garfield and Friends is a classic.  MC Hammer used to have a cartoon (Deffinately hiphop).  Wildcats had a hiphop like theme song and the show was pretty dope too.
