Kanye’s manager Don C also posted a picture next to his cool kicks. Apparently, he manages Kim Kardashian too now. Just note that. Anyhow, they seem to think that the cover represents a melted Jesus piece.

10). Two of the South’s best, Big Boi and Killer Mike, are on the “Shoes for Running Tour” that is already underway and isn’t set to conclude until mid-July.  It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years since Outkast’s last proper studio album.  And while Andre 3000 has ventured into other things, Big Boi released two solo albums- the latter of which he is promoting with his current tour.

9). Just like the album cover suggests, Mac Miller has said that his new album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off, is very personal.  He even told Hot 97 that he has pushed back the collaboration project with Pharrell, Pink Slime, in order to build his own brand.  But fans who have been eagerly awaiting that will get a little something to tide them over on Miller’s upcoming LP.  One of the confirmed tracks, “Objects in the Mirror,” is produced by Skateboard P.

8). Although there is no official release date, Game recently released a tweet letting the world know that his Operation Kill Everything mixtape is coming soon.  After Jesus Piece received a positive response in late 2012, this new project is a great way to keep his momentum going and introduce material under newly-formed Rolex Records, a company the former G-Unit member formed with Atlanta rapper Stat Quo.

7). Summer sequels aren’t just limited to movies.  After the success of last year’s “Under the Influence Tour”, Wiz Khalifa is still smoking a year later with a follow-up to the aforementioned outing.  On this go round though, he is touring with A$AP Rocky instead of Mac Miller.  The tour has 20 stops and begins on July 7 in San Francisco, CA, and ends on August 11 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

6). On “Cole Summer,” J. Cole rhymes, “And I told my fellas, I dropped “Friday Night Lights” in the winter just to make her jealous/ Wanted to drop the album in the summer, but the label didn’t think that they could sell it/Recoup the first week, I think it ain’t s**t they can tell us.”  Not only that, the album debuted at #1, went gold, and was critically acclaimed.  Now he gets to drop in the summer with Born Sinner, set for release on June 25th.

5). LL Cool J has made some unfavorable musical choices lately such as “Ratchet” and “Accidental Racist,” but hopefully his “Kings of the Mic Tour” can help make up for it.  Accompanying LL on this 25-date tour are fellow Hip-Hop legends Public Enemy, Ice Cube, and De La Soul.  This is an outstanding ensemble of Hip-Hop’s elder statesmen and all of them are known for great live performances.

4). Historically, Hot 97’s Summer Jam has had some major moments.  Remember when Jay-Z put up pictures of Prodigy in a leotard?  Or when The Game beat up the giant rat that was presumably 50 Cent?  With the 20th anniversary of the Hip-Hop festival taking place in June, some big surprises are bound to be in store for all those in attendance at Met Life Life stadium.  Not to mentioned, big names like Kendrick Lamar, the Wu-Tang Clan, Chris Brown, and 2 Chainz have already been announced as part of the lineup.

3). Who would have ever thought that a blonde-haired blue-eyed teeny bopper and a rapper from Marcy Projects would tour with each other as “Legends of the Summer?”  Nevertheless, after each reaching the pinnacle of success in their respective genre, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z decided to hit the road together and perform their music for the masses.  And even with Kid Rock being critical of the high ticket price, the shows will undoubtedly be packed with people ranging from those too young to remember NSYNC to the ones who saw Jay-Z tour with Big Daddy Kane, and all ages in between.

2). “We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013,” Paul Rosenberg, president of Shady Records told Billboard magazine.  “It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when.”  Local Detroit station 95.5 even said it could drop on July 2nd.  If that’s the case, one of the biggest rappers could provide help provide Hip-Hop with one of its biggest summers in recent memory.

1). The speculative release date , June 18th, announced via Kanye West’s Twitter account, had the Internet going crazy.  Now, the album just has to live up to the hype.  Fortunately, Mr. West has always delivered quality material and he is never short on confidence.  And with a wide of range of artists said to have recorded new material with Kanye (Skrillex, Daft Punk, Odd Future, Chief Keef), his new album has the potential to take Hip-Hop into uncharted territory…again.

Havoc might not be a household name, but that doesn’t negate the fact that he makes beats that are on par with, or even better than, material from producers who are.

10). “The Future” by Diddy:  “The Future” doesn’t sound like a beat its producer would typically make.  It’s unrelenting and makes for a very unusual almost techno/pop vibe.  Diddy’s delivery of the words from Pharoahe Monch’s pen is unique on this song too.  It pushes both people out of their comfort zone, and yet works well with the experimental sounds of Diddy’s Press Play.

9). “Shoot ‘Em Up” by Nas: For the most part Nastradamus was a bust, but there’s still definitely something to be said for Havoc’s ability to take “Carol of the Bells” and make a beat out of it with Nas delivering the vivid and violent lyrics atop of it that he does here.

8). “Don’t Need Your Love” by The Game: Havoc can definitely make moody beats, and he gave the Dr. Dre protege one for “Don’t Need Your Love” and The Game takes full advantage.  From rapping about being left in a foster home to getting passed over for a record deal, a lot of ground is covered.  It’s a good emotional song on a gangsta rap album and that is a rarity.

7). “Untitled” by Eminem: Recovery was a helluva comeback album for Eminem.  But after 16 tracks filled with mostly mature and deep writing, Em ended by just rhyming for the sport of it. Eminem seemingly took a cue from his B Rabbit character and closed out the show spitting over a Havoc instrumental.  Clearly, it worked out really well for both of them.

6). “Welcome 2 Hell” by Bad Meets Evil: Considering how powerful Recovery ended, why not start the next project the same way and add another Detroit rapper with outstanding lyrical abilities and flows for days?  The back-and-forth between Eminem and Royce Da 5’9” is masterfully executed here over Havoc’s beat.  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  Just make it better.

5). “Beef” by The Notorious B.I.G. feat. Mobb Deep: One of the few redeeming qualities of Biggie’s Duets: The Final Chapter album is Havoc’s take on the King of New York’s “What’s Beef?”  Unlike many of the then-contemporary artists who never actually worked with Big that appear on Duets, it is very easy to tell that Havoc did.  The beat sounds like something Biggie would of rapped on (without sounding dated) and Havoc and Prodigy rhyme with that same tough East Coast vibe of the mid-90s era rap scene.

4). “The Promise” by Foxy Brown feat. Havoc: They both had to deliver.  Havoc needed to prove he could stand on his own two without Prodigy and Foxy needed to separate herself from Lil Kim comparisons.  Given the content and quality of the song, it’s safe to say that they both succeeded.

3). “Usual Suspect” by Big Noyd: Over a gritty snapping track that almost guarantees listeners will be head-bobbing, Mobb Deep-affiliate Big Noyd goes in on this beat with solid rhymes and delivery.  And even though Noyd never quite blew up in his own right, this 1996 song proves that The Infamous duo had a knack for spotting talent in addition to crafting beats and rhymes of their own.

2). “Why” by Jadakiss feat. Anthony Hamilton: Havoc’s use of xylophones on this song mesh perfectly with Anthony Hamilton’s soulful delivery and Kiss’ introspective rap.  The song was such a hit that it even spawned a remix (not produced by Havoc) which had Common asking, “Why is Bush actin like he trying to get Osama?/Why don’t we impeach him and elect Obama?”  And this was in 2004!

1). “Last Day” by The Notorious B.I.G. feat. The Lox:  The amazing thing about this record is that the original beat for “Last Day” got lost.  Therefore, Havoc made this track on the spot with Puff watching over his shoulder.  After Mr. Combs gave it the thumbs up, Biggie approved too.  The resulting song is a Hip-Hop classic with some of New York’s finest behind the boards and on the mic.

It wasn’t our parents who introduced us to Assata Shakur. It was hip-hop. Chuck D of Public Enemy broke the thick, cold ice when he bellowed, “supporter of Chesimard!” in the group’s seminal song “Rebel Without A Pause.”

However, Assata Shakur, known to her haters by her married name, JoAnne Chesimard, lived a graphic tale that began well before the 1987 classic song by P.E. Shakur, 65, was accused of the 1973 murder of state trooper Werner Foerster during a traffic stop in New Jersey. A member of the Black Liberation Army, Shakur was convicted in 1977, even though her case was wrought with controversy (she has consistently denied killing Foerster and proclaimed her innocence). And then she famously escaped, and fled to Cuba. Chuck D name-checked her, and sparked a lot of brain cells in the youth who were consuming rap music at a time when her name was not ringing many bells.
After Chuck D came others in rap who acknowledged Shakur in their lyrics, like revolutionary rapper Paris, the jazzy Digable Planets, militant crew X-Clan, and Common, a more palatable purveyor of conscious rap. Assata’s name came up in 2011 when Common was invited to the White House to perform, as many on the Right took exception to his early lyrical content. They were also offended at his outright, unapologetic support for Shakur on “A Song for Assata,” who is now widely known only as a “convicted cop killer” as if injustice didn’t exist in America.

But hip-hop also embraces Assata for a reason deeper than any name-check.

Her godson, Tupac Shakur, was probably the biggest name ever in rap music. Many have fantasized that Pac is in Cuba right now, chillin’ with his step aunt. Although most people gravitate to the thug in Pac, he had revolutionary blood in his veins. He’s mother was a Black Panther and his stepfather Mutulu Shakur, also an activist, is considered a political prisoner by his supporters. Mutulu is in jail right now for helping his sister, Assata, in her escape from prison on November 2, 1979. These are the ones Tupac considered “real n***as.” We absorbed that in his songs as he name checked them.

The wormhole goes deeper.

The Rebel…With A Cause
Shakur holds a major distinction that probably contributes to the ire of her detractors. Simply put, she got away. Davey D, a hip-hop activist and historian, says her supporters can relate to her success at bucking the system.

“Of course she was a rebel,” Davey says. “She’s been a rebel — not in some sort of nostalgic way — but in a real way that people can relate to.” And he says Shakur’s supporters in the world of hip-hop “don’t see her as some crazed cop killer, the way the popular narrative would have you believe. She was somebody who was about defending our community. She comes on the scene [as a] response to our community [being] attacked” by racist forces.

And for some, the risk paid off.  With the release of Iron Man 3 on May 3 (tomorrow), AllHipHop took a moment to recognize how some of rap’s finest have embraced the “super hero” status.  On more than one occasion, they have helped save Hip-Hop with their skills and ultimately lived up to the proclamations that their personas project.

5).  DJ Green Lantern: In addition to being Shady Records’ DJ at a time when the label was white-hot, Green Lantern also produced Ludacris’ Grammy-nominated banger, “Number One Spot.”  Even after leaving Shady as a result of a dispute with 50 Cent, Green kept it moving.  He was on the 1s and 2s for Jay-Z’s  first international tour in 2006 and he currently resides in Atlanta where he works with radio station V-103 FM and hosts a show on Sirius XM’s Hip-Hop Nation.

4). David Banner:  As a rapper and producer, David Banner capitalized on the emergence of southern rap in the 2000s and released a series successful albums and singles.  However, always being one to change with the times, Banner and producer 9th Wonder released Death of a Pop Star in 2010, an album about the demise of the music industry.  Two years later, Banner’s independent album, Sex, Drugs, and Video Games, was released online for free.

3). Jean Grae:  It’s no surprise that Jean Grae adapted her name from Jean Gray, a super-heroine who possesses telekinetic powers.  The thought and focus of Grae’s rhymes move listeners on a regular basis.  She is a skilled lyricist who has a flow to match.  And even though she has seemingly come in and out of the industry in the past decade, her material has real staying power.  Her collaborations with Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique, and Masta Ace (among others) don’t hurt either.

2). MF Doom: Considering Doom’s experiences (losing his brother to a car crash, having his group dropped and second album shelved), one can’t blame him for abandoning Five Percent Nation raps and then re-emerging years later as a rap super villan bent on revenge.  Ironically though, the man who “came to destroy rap” upon his return to it ended up doing just the opposite by simply destroying the competition with his avant-garde style.

1). Ghostface Killah: While aliases and cinematic albums cripple lesser artists, Ghostface (a/k/a Tony Starks) is able to embrace it all and that has made him one of rap’s greatest storytellers ever.  Wether talking tough on “Crimonology” or paying respect to his mother on “All That I Got is You,” the man is equally convincing in both scenarios.  And that leaves many people wondering the same thing he did on 2006’s “The Champ”: “While y’all stuck on Laffy Taffy/ Wondering how y’all n****s get past me/I been doing this since before Nas dropped the Nasty”

DJ JS-1, Pat Poon, Operator EMC, and DJ Skizz will be spinning Beastie Boys’ music, and members of the groundbreaking B-Boy crew the Dynamic Rockers will also be in attendance to entertain the crowd.

The centerpieces of “MCA Day” will be the various visual installations displayed throughout the space. Attendees will get to see rare photographs of the band by renown music/skateboard photographer Glen E. Friedman who shot MCA, Michael “Mike D” Diamond, and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz before the trio became superstars.

Pics by Sunny Bak, the photographer who captured the iconic image of the Beasties in front of the World’s Fair Globe, will also be a part of the exhibit.

Brooklyn artist and co-creator of the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music’s “Jam Awards” Michael “Mr Kaves” McLeer will show some of his work, and fans will have the opportunity to present their pieces as well.

The Beastie Boys fanthology project, Keep It On and On, will be showing artwork created by fans from around the world. For those people who will not be able to make it to New York City,  Keep In On and On will run the images on their Facebook page throughout the day and provide free downloadable PDFs of the art.

The festivities will take place on the one year anniversary of the death of MCA. The Brooklyn bred emcee passed away from throat cancer on May 4, 2012.

“I felt this tremendous void. Like a lot of people the Beastie Boys became the soundtrack to my life. I started to realize there were a lot of people sharing and struggling with the same feelings. I wanted to do something, but I wasn’t sure what to do and how to do it,” said “MCA Day” founder Mike Kearney in a statement.

Eventually, Kearney used Facebook and Twitter to connect with other Beastie Boys fans, and the collective put together the first “MCA Day” last year in Union Square. The initial makeshift event drew fans and artists from around the nation including Ad-Rock.

With a full year under their belts the organizers of “MCA Day” 2012 are putting together an even bigger celebration for the legendary musician, video director, film producer, and humanitarian.

The second annual “MCA Day” will take place May 4 at the Littlefield art space in Brooklyn, New York from 11 AM – 4 PM. The event is free to the public.

Will Jay-Z be able to do it? The word is The Nets were largely interested in Jigga Man, because they though he could possibly get Lebron James to the franchise. He wasn’t able, if he was ever charged with that. Now that Jay has his dope new company RocNation Sports, he’s killing it. Can he kill it farther? The latest is that he’s trying to pull LeBron into the stable of stars. Some have already come forward to refute the rumor, based on the fact that Bron Bron LEFT CAA last September and they are Jay-Z’s partner in this sports venture. Not a lot more to it, but I think that Jay and Bron’s relationship could triumph over whatever happened with the CAA situation. Perception alone is killer. We’ll see.

During a live Q&A with the cast of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, K. Michelle received a huge ovation after  pejoratively responding to a Bossip intern’s question:

“You represent a brand that destroys people. We may not be perfect up here on this stage, but at least we open up our life for people to see it. Your auntie’s do it. Your cousin’s do it. And for ya’ll to sit up there and try to make money off the s*** I do, get the f*** up outta here!”

In the  exclusive interview with AllHipHop, the verbose songstress elaborated on the situation:

“It’s ok to go in. That’s y’all job. At the same time you have to put light on the positive side. I think it’s best for me to stay off of social networks, because as big and bad as I can be I have a huge heart.”

The Love & Hip Hop starlet also spoke on her highly publicized breakup with the NBA’s 2013 Sixth Man of the Year, New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith. In early December of last year, the Knicks star went to Twitter to publicly announce his breakup from K. Michelle. While K. Michelle says there are suitors vying for the single mother’s affection, she to taking some time away from relationships following the heartbreaking breakup.

Her new album, entitled Rebellious Soul will be released through Atlantic Records in August with the first single arriving May 7th , according to the reality TV star.

Earlier this month (April 1st), the ONIFC  rapper sued the concert promotion company after the company cancelled a show at George Mason University that they booked for Wiz at the last minute. According to the lawsuit, Wiz was promised $85,000 in addition to a percentage of the show’s profits.

It’s My Party responding by asserting that there was no contract drawn up for the performance and therefore they have no obligation to compensate the slighted rapper.

Wiz won’t have any problem making that $85k back soon as the Pittsburg MC recently revealed that him and A$AP Rocky will be hitting the road for the “Under the Influence” tour starting July 17th in San Francisco, CA.

He also teamed up with his bud brother, Curren$y to release the EP Live In Concert on April 20th. The EP is a follow up to the duo’s lauded 2009 mixtape, How Fly. Live In Concert can be purchased on iTunes.

A member of the memorable soul collective, The Soulquarians, whom he states would have made an “amazing” album if they had ever recorded one together, Bilal has long been viewed as an intergral part of the neo-soul sound/movement. A label that most of the artists who are relegated to that category reject. However, it is undisputed that the music of the early 2000′s featured a feel unlike any time since and that experience was captured in the music of Erykah Badu, India. Arie, The Roots, and Common. The former neo-soul sound has morphed back into what it always was Black music, and idea that sits well with Bilal.

“The genre never really existed for me. I never really put myself in a box. I came out at a time where a lot of people were using a lot of retro instruments and stuff like that,” he states, “But I never looked at as ‘neo-soul,’ I always thought it was a hybrid of hip-hop. The people that I worked with on my first album from The Roots, to Dr. Dre were hip-hop. I didn’t see it then as neo-soul.”

After his debut, emerging file-sharing technology would soon force the crooner into a career dilemma that would last nearly a decade. His sophmore debut, Love for Sale, was shelved by Interscope after the highly-anticipated follow up leaked online and fans would go NINE years before he released another studio album, 2010′s Airtight’s Revenge.

The album featured his signature sound, heavy synth rhythms and insightful songwriting. “Little One,” a thought-provoking song about his eldest son, who is autistic, was nominated for a Grammy. Written with the idea of an audible film or short story, the album is full of dark themes about self-reflection. Some from his life, some from his imagination. Either way, the album, which was well-received by critics but not as much by fans. However, it fueled his newest recording, A Love Surreal. ”I learn from each project,” Bilal states, ”Every time I make a record, I am taking notes for the next record. This album took me the shortest time to make; honestly, it was like it just flowed.” And flow it does.

From the intro, A Love Surreal transplants the listener into a world where nothing exists but love. It isn’t all perfect love. Released just over a month ago, the new album features thoughts on new love, long-distance love, and lost love. “The inspiration behind the record is art. Visual art. I wanted to make a world that you could lose yourself inside of,” Bilal to AllHipHop.com in an exclusive interview, “I try to make the music, when we record it, so that when we actually play it live; it will sound better.” Bilal has been touring the US in support of the album, with an incredible one-hour set featuring him, his band, and his many hits.

Despite only being on his third album, Bilal has a career that has spanned almost fifteen years and his imprint is all over the current sound of R&B. His inspiration is evident in younger artists like Frank Ocean and Miguel, whose spacey-sounding love songs have defined the sound in recent years. A fact that Bilal barely acknowledges, “I like what Miguel is doing. I like what Frank is doing. I think that the brothers are doing a good job.” He adds, ”But, I couldn’t really give you a statement on the state of soul music. I’m in my own little bubble, my own little world. I think we’re in a really space right now, with all the TV shows, that everybody is a judge of music. What’s great, what’s dope. I kind of just stay in my own little world and make sure my s**t is dope.”

Bilal has always made dope music from his own recordings, to his most recent collaborations with the Grammy-winning Robert Glasper Experiment, to his many collaborations with hip-hop artists. He credits his work-ethic and his love for hip-hop,”What I’m doing now I see it as a hybrid. But, that’s pretty much what hip-hop does, it takes other styles of music and creates a sound. That’s my approach to music. Nowadays, my music has taken a sort of jazz tone, I guess that’s because I’ve aged. I don’t really put what I do in a box by giving it a name.”

The Bad Boy/MMG/Interscope golden boy’s long awaited debut album, Excuse My French releases on May 21st. The disc is executive produced by Rick Ross and P. Diddy.

Lil Wayne’s 2009 America’s Most Wanted Music Festival raked in  approximately $42 million with over 804,000 people attending.

Scarface has never minced words in his 20+ year career and remains as candid when discussing the future for Hip Hop with FuseTV.

It has been five years since Scarface released his eleventh album Emeritus, which he constantly referred to as his final solo album. In the interview with Fuse, the man born Brad Jordan speaks on how the changing hip hop landscape is making his hesitant to release new music, including the long delayed collaborative project with Beanie Sigel, Mac & Brad:

“In all honesty, man , I want to drop an album. But, I don’t want it to get lost in the wash. Hip Hop is bumper to bumper now. Everybody got a record company. Everybody putting out albums. “

So, this show the Gossip Game is about to get it poppin on VHI. The show comes alive on April 1, but its not April Fools Joke. The show is headed by Mona Scott and it follows several real life industry women in media. The crazy thing is, when I first broke the news of the real cast, part of me thought it was going to be fake. But, the real life of it is, this is real. Some of these women have real beefs with each other. Now, there is a person named Viv and she and Ms. Drama go at it. I heard they have several real life confrontations that are REAL. One event, I heard there was a fisticuffs so crazy that Michael Kyser of Atlantic Records had to kick everybody out of one of his parties. Anyway, the whole first episode is online and I’m about to watch it right now. Its streamed below.

NICKI’S FAULT?

This ain’t right. American Idol is going down the tube, it seems. And they are now definitely blaming Nicki Minaj. I don’t think its fair since the show was already on the decline when Nicki came in. The spotlight in nothing new to Vanessa, but she admitted that this feeling was quite different from her other ventures in TV and fashion.

“I’m very excited, I’ve definitely had a chance through these couple of years to experiment and do some indies and some TV work and I’m excited that I was cast to be the lead in this role. I think that it definitely is broadening my horizons and I think it has taken me out of my comfort zone, but I’m excited to tell this story.”

Published author and accomplished filmmaker Dominga Martin chose Simmons as the leading lady in her new film that Vanessa describes as “honest.”

“It gets real honest from a female’s point of view. Its just real honest, I’m just excited to be working with Dominga, and not only did she write it but she also is directing it as well,” Vanessa told AllHipHop.com. “I think that its bold and courageous and definitely inspiring”

Vanessa says that the character that she plays in the film is a woman that many women in today’s world will be able to relate to.

“I think that Starla is just really relatable, she is a hard working, young lady, who I feel like is looking for love. It sounds sort of chick-flickish, but that’s our story aside from our contributions back to the world, I think we are here to find love and to share that with somebody else, and I think that her story is very relatable to other people in what we go through as women in finding that one person we can share our life with.”

Dominga Martin said she was instantly impressed with Vanessa.

“She had [the right] demeanor, voice, characteristics…we hit it off and she loved the script,” she said. “I met Vanessa Simmons about two years ago and she looked just like the character in my head”

The movie is gaining funding from Martin’s production company, House Of Ming’s crowd funding campaign on IndieGoGo.com started in February of 2013 and plans to begin filming this summer.

This rumor comes on the heels that its possible that the whole crew may have some reality show presence in the near future. That would not include Freekey! Hoping that he’s a part of the comeback, because he’s hilarious! He’s the ODB of the Dips! Anyway, there’s also some talk of a clothing deal with Marc Ecko. That’s cool too.

Throughout the tour, Ghostface will be backed by a band called Venice Dawn and led by composer Adrian Younge, who concieved the concept album and worked on the acclaimed film Black Dynamite.

The story of good and evil follows Tony Starks (one of Ghostface’s alter egos), as a soldier for the 12 Delucas, a 1960’s-era Italian crime family, ultimately turning into a vintage horror film with gangster elements.

Interestingly, Wu-Tang Clan founder and producer RZA was the one who chose Younge for the project, giving suggestions and direction throughout the project’s development.

“I wanted this album to be the album that went back and started things all over,” Younge says. “I wanted to be the first person to really bring this to hip-hop. I want to bring that organic element back to hip-hop. I’m fortunate enough that I was chosen to be that person to do it.”

Tracks on the project feature live strings, horns and drums that were recorded on 2-inch tape giving each song a depth that is often unheard in today’s music.

From Adrian Younge’s acclaimed album Something About April to composing the music for the acclaimed film Black Dynamite, to recording an album for the legendary soul group The Delfonics, Younge is looking to change the way people view Hip-Hop and infusing the genre with real compositions.

“I want to be known as a composer, not a beat-maker,” he says. “I want to be known as a composer for modern soul music.”

“I want this album to change what people think about hip-hop,” Younge says.

Twelve Reasons to Die will be available in various forms including a deluxe double CD with instrumentals and a mini comic book, plus a digital deluxe version with instrumentals and digital comic book, multiple vinyl formats and a cassette.

The album, including limited edition deluxe bundles, is available for pre-order at soultemplemusic.bandcamp.com.

Twelve Reasons to Die will be released on Soul Temple Records and is set to be distributed by RED Music on April 16th.

The 49-city national tour kicks off on March 14th at SXSW in Austin, Texas and will run thru early June ending up back in Austin.

In a culture that prides itself on being cool, edgy, and fresh, “out with the old and in with the new” in Hip-Hop is routine. However, sometimes rappers go overboard with things and end up doing more harm than good while trying to be hip.

Recently, Hip-Hop has ruined privacy with all the talk about Adrienne Bosh.  But this is not the first or last time that Hip-Hop will ruin something.

As the saying goes, “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions;” rap is no exception.  And so, AllHipHop.com made a list of 10 things that Hip-Hop ruined.

Hip-Hop Ruined Rap Collaborations

There was a time when rappers would collaborate and fans could simply enjoy the records that were made.  “The Symphony,” “Flava in Ya Ear (Remix),” “The Grand Finale,” and the list goes on.  But eventually the focus for discussions about collaborations became, “Who got who?” instead of “Is this a hot song?” Not to say the former can’t be a discussion point, but it shouldn’t overshadow everything.  Hip-Hop is competitive enough as it is.  Can’t we all show a little U.N.I.T.Y.?

Hip-Hop Ruined Happiness

Being disregarded as a rapper because of lack of ability is one thing, but being written off for not being “tough enough” is absolutely ridiculous.  There’s a reason DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince won the first Rap Grammy ever.  Hip-Hop has been significant in expressing struggle which is important.  However, it’s also necessary to acknowledge the more pleasant things in life too because that is what makes overcoming any struggle worth it in the end.

Hip-Hop Ruined Writing Down Lyrics

Ever since it became common knowledge that Biggie didn’t write his rhymes down, countless emcees have adopted that approach.  But few emcees can compose raps from memory like Biggie did and so the fact that other rappers don’t write their rhymes down is reflected in the quality of the music that’s recorded from memory.  If only one of the greatest wasn’t so damn good, rappers that followed in Biggie’s footsteps could’ve helped Hip-Hop sound a lot better than it does sometimes.

Hip-Hop Ruined The Black Power Movement

In the late 80s and early 90s, there was a movement of Hip-Hoppers that were decidedly conscious.  Led by the likes of Public Enemy and KRS-One, these rappers pushed the line on social commentary and pushing the race forward.  Then came N.W.A, with a bunch of talk about niggas and bitches. They changed everything and while they had a few social bones in their body, it was later revealed that it was mostly Ice Cube.

Hip-Hop Ruined Intimacy Between Men And Women

Once upon a time, LL Cool J wrote a song called “I Need Love.”  In 2012, 2 Chainz wrote a lovely song called “Birthday Song,” where he proclaimed all he wanted for his birthday was a “big booty hoe.”  These days relationships are the equivalent to finding a spot and hanging out.  2 Chainz is only one is a milllion rappers to reduce the women to a couple of body parts.  Damn it, Hip-Hop.  A slow song ain’t so bad….

Hip-Hop Ruined Body Art

Tattoos are used as a reminder of something significant by way of inking the skin.  But they are permanent and, in many cases, available for the world to see.  While some get tattoos for more conventional reasons, rappers have been known to go left field with it and turned something special into something silly.  For a few examples of such instances, see Gucci Mane’s ice cream cone face tattoo and the red stars inked on Birdman’s head.

Hip-Hop Ruined Spelling

Tell the truth…you tend to spell the word ludicrous “ludacris” like the famous rapper!  Or freakin’ fabulous Fabolous.  Fab, the rapper, had the nerve to spell it wrong in his first 100 songs, permanently ruing that name.  But it doesn’t stop there.  Rappers and Hip-Hop have consistently mutilated very reasonable words for no real reason.  Back in the day, “the” was “tha” – FOR NO REASON! Tupac, the don, loved to replace “s” for “z” in just about everything (i.e. Better Dayz).  We collectively took the n-word with the “er” and added an “a” – and somehow it mystically turned into a term of endearment.  Nowadays, this affliction that started in the 80′s has kids texting illegible sentences in the name of youth.  No, its just piss-poor spelling.

Hip-Hop Ruined Retirement

There have been many rappers over the years (Too Short, Master P, Jay-Z, just to name a few) that have said they were retiring only to return to rap within a few years after first hanging up the mic.  Could retirement be a marketing tactic?  Or is it just a way to fall off gracefully if the “last” album flops?  Either way, a rapper has yet to return from retirement and catch a second wind that exceeds their first.

Hip-Hop Ruined Auto-Tune

When Cher used Auto-Tune for her hit “Believe” in 1998, that could have been the end of it.  But with the emergence of stars like T-Pain in the late 2000s, a lot of Hip-Hop artists got in on the Auto-Tune craze.  Kanye West even recorded an entire album using it.  Eventually, it was run into the ground because it went from a cool effect to gimmick.  Hip-hop literally hasn’t sounded the same since.

Hip-Hop Ruined Video Vixens

Sex, drugs, and rock and roll.  With that in mind, one would think that rock music ruined models more than rap. However, that isn’t the case.  Supermodels Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell, among many others, have made appearances in music videos for rockers and then gone on to achieve worldwide fame and lengthy careers in the limelight.  Rap video models, on the other hand, write tell-all books (Karrine Steffans), go to jail (Kat Stacks), and join the real estate industry (Melyssa Ford) after the cameras stop rolling.

The shootout was part of an ongoing dispute in the valet parking area of the Aria Resort and Casino that eventually carried out into the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard South and Flamingo Road.

Killed in the shootout was Bay Area rapper Kenny Clutch, shot to death in his Maserati after it crashed into a taxi that subsequently exploded and burned the driver and its passenger beyond recognition.

The passenger in Clutch’s car luckily only suffered an arm injury and was taken to Las Vegas’ University Medical Center. According to The Las Vegas Review Journal the passenger is cooperating with police.

Vicki Greco, who legally represented Clutch for several speeding tickets, said Clutch was the father of two children and wasn’t a gang member.

I’m tempted to give Ja the epic fail of the day, but I can’t! The bruh has been trying to get out and it was highly promoted that he was getting out and he’s still in the bing on separate charges! I don’t know the deal, but they got him on some tax charges. Keep ya head up bro!

AHH DJ ON REALITY TV?

There’s a rumor that theres is a new cast member on LHHATL, Celebrity DJ Traci Steele, is a part of the new cast. She’s originally from Bronx, New York and has done a few tours with Ne-Yo, Musiq SoulChild, Jazmine Sullivan and she’s even a former AllHipHop DJ, from what I heard. I didn’t know that though.

Hip-Hop Rumors: What’s Wu Tang Got In Store?

Tim Dog is dead.

Before Biggie and Pac, where going at it in a war dubbed the East Coast/West Coast beef, there was Tim Dog. Now, I loved what NWA, Ice Cube, DJ Quik and those guys were doing, but, I have an eternal love for the underdog (which they were too in a different way). Maybe New York didn’t realize it at the time, but a lot of us “outsiders” shifted our eyeballs to other areas of the nation in the late 80s and early 90′s. Compton was one of those areas and we were captivated with the visuals coming through the speakers.

Tim wasn’t having it.

Tim Dog was brazen, brash and bold against some of the most talented and fearsome rappers in the game in 1991 with “F**k Compton.” But he spoke out when Dre beat up Dee Barnes, the video music host. The Ultra Magnetic affiliate talked out opposing something we East Coasters didn’t fully understand at the time – gangs. His debut album, Penicillin on Wax, was almost chiefly meant to discredit rappers from Compton and , to a lesser degree, the West Coast. He also did some outright silly stuff like dissing Kid-N-Play, cool and fun emcees. He also praised Public Enemy for no apparent reason. He apologized to Dr. Dre’s ex-girlfriend, singer Michel’le, for dissing her in “F**k Compton.” He made sure it was known he was cool with Ice Cube, Ice-T and kinda liked NWA’s MC Ren. LOL! He was all over the place sometimes. A rebel with many contradicting causes.

Fact: Tim Dog has an understated place in history. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg checked him (and inadvertently immortalized him) on “Dre Day.” A post-Ice Cube NWA sued him for using their music at on his second album ( a first at the time) so they wanted to get at him any way possible. Tiny Lister aka Deebo from “Friday” even threatened him when he moved out West. And he still bragged “I’m the illest n***a alive! Why you say? I dissed the West Coast and I moved to LA!” I can’t help but wonder if anybody is celebrating at the news of the Bronx rapper’s sudden demise.

I’m not partying. My jaw dropped last night after hearing Tim Dog (real name:Timothy Blair) was dead, from an apparent seizure.

For years, I had tried and tried and tried to interview Tim Dog. And I feel bad that I’ll never have that opportunity to do this now.

Some are going to ask why, considering I’ve been blessed to have interviewed most of the biggest names in the game through the years. Let me explain. Tim Dog was mysteriously elusive – defiantly elusive!

A few years ago, he had gotten a new record deal and it was clear that press had to be involved to re-introduce him to the game. Few people remembered “F**k Compton” or “I Get Wrecked” with KRS-One. The man refused to do any interviews until they dropped him from the label. Weird as all get out!

But, recently, he stood accused of defrauding a number of women out of thousands of dollars, a apparent attempt to fund a new album. In June, he was all the rage again for all the wrong reasons and an investigative piece by NBC’s “Dateline” dug deep. It was at this time that I started to email with Tim to get his side on record with AllHipHop. He hated the edit job and accused the network of misstating the facts. He was down to do the interview, but he just stop replying after confirming. But, just for the record, he felt terrible about the allegations against him and he had absolutely no trust left in the media. Such was Tim Dog.

On the very low, I was a huge Tim Dog fan. I can now liberate myself of that secret. He wasn’t the most talented dude, and paled to compare to those he opposed, on the real. But he had something most rappers lack…balls. Pardon the baseness of the word, but I don’t know any other way to say it. But, this man had the nerve to drop a 5-disc box set of his greatest hits. NWA, Snoop, or any of his adversaries haven’t even done that yet (even though they all could).

That’s Tim Dog. Incredibly audacious.

I am hearing that most of the key people in the company have departed without the leadership of Baby Chris. But, before he passed away to an apparent suicide, he seemingly willed the company away to his widow. She’s rumored to be on the run from the loyal wolves. I’m hearing she is Houston after being run out of Miami. Who knows.

Anyway, 50 Cent’s investigation has turned up basically nothing from what I heard. You know, he got a private investigator but it has not gotten any material evidence that Chris Lighty was murdered.

I thought some of you would like to know this update.

Guerrilla Black, born Charles Tony Williamson, was arrested by Manhattan Beach Police, for his role in a credit card operation that was earning him more than $20,000 per month.

According to Manhattan Beach Police, the rapper and five other people were arrested for their roles in the criminal operation, which used stolen information to manufacture phony credit cards.

Seven search warrants were executed throughout Los Angeles County to dismantle the criminal enterprise, which was investigated by the United States Secret Service Department, along with the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

In July, Guerilla Black was arrested and charged with numerous counts of identity theft and fraud, for his role in an illegal credit card manufacturing ring that operated out of Seattle, Washington. 

According to police, a number of banks in the United States suffered heavy losses due to the ring, since authorities believe the actual amount each individual was earning was well over the $20,000 per month that has been reported.

Banks in the United States that were targeted included Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, Capitol One and American Express, while international financial institutions in England, Switzerland, Nigeria, Mexico, Italy, Canada, Australia, Sweden, France, Norway, Ireland, Russia, Denmark and Germany suffered losses.

Guerrilla Black the others arrested could face new charges for Bank Fraud, Aggravated Identity Theft and Fraud in Connection with Computers, Access Device Fraud, Use of Stolen Credit Card Accounts, Receiving Stolen Property and Conspiracy.

Among other things, Andy expressed her hopes and goals for her critically acclaimed second album, Superconductor, executive-produced by Prince, and featuring three songs co-written by Prince himself.

“My hope for this album is that it takes people somewhere, you know, you come out of it feeling something or learning something, listening to the project and experiencing something,” Allo said of her sophomore effort.

“I learned a lot by watching Prince and watching how he conducts the band and that’s been such a huge insight to how to work with band members and how to communicate. I had a band before when I started playing so I think its kind of just natural. You talk music and it’s just a different way of communicating,” Andy Allo told AllHipHop.com about her live performance.

When asked how she met Prince and how the two began songwriting together Andy told AllHipHop a unique story about their unlikely meeting.

“Well I sent him a letter and I told him that he needed me in his band and that he needed someone with an afro and it wasnt right for him to not have an afro guitar playing girl in his band – and he agreed,” Andy Allo said jokingly. “It was awesome, the world works in mysterious ways.”

While Andy’s music has been categorized as a mix of funk, jazz and R&B, Andy is a fan of earlier versions of Hip-Hop and has worked with West Coast rapper Blu from the duo Blu and Exile.

Despite her love for the genre Andy admitted that Hip-Hop today has “lost her,” in some respects.

“I don’t know where Hip-Hop is at, I’m a huge fan of A Tribe Called Quest, like one of my all time, all-time favorites. Or even NWA, like there was a message almost, Tupac, Notorious, they all had a message, I just don’t know where the message is in Hip-Hop. I’m kind of discouraged, I want someone to emerge and lets talk about revolution and lets talk about change and lets talk about how we’re going to get clean water or fix our communities. For me that’s what Rap was all about and that what Hip-Hop was all about. Kind of like giving it to ‘the man’ like we don’t need you,” Andy Allo said.

Katt Williams and Suge Knight were at Eden club, in Hollywood when a massive brawl broke out.

Video released by TMZ.com captured the wild altercation, that shows several men chasing Katt Williams as Suge Knight brawls with other individuals.

After security broke up the fight, and escorted the pair back to their white SUV, several men became riled up and began to move towards Suge Knight’s vehicle.

Suge gunned the engine and sped off through the parking lot, almost striking several onlookers.

The fight came on the heels of Katt Williams arrest yesterday (December 28), for child endangerment Charges.

The comedian is free on $100,000 bail, after authorities received a complaint of guns and drugs being in his Hollywood home.

The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services found four guns and illegal drugs inside of his home.

The same day, Katt Williams was also hit with a $4 million lien by the IRS, for unpaid taxes stretching back to the year 2008.

The Newton shootings, which took place last Friday (December 14), shocked the world and immediately started a heated debate on gun control laws.

The NRA hosted a press conference today, in response to the massive outcry over assault weapons and what restrictions or bans should be placed on them.

According to the NRA, the Newton shootings were inspired by Hollywood and he blamed the media and corporations for profiting off of the violence.

“There exists in this country a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells, and sows, violence against its own people,” NRA President Wayne LaPierre said today (December 21).

“Through vicious, violent video games with names like ‘Bulletstorm,’ ‘Grand Theft Auto,’ ‘Mortal Kombat’ and ‘Splatterhouse.’ And here’s one: it’s called ‘Kindergarten Killers.’ It’s been online for 10 years. How come my research department could find it and all of yours either couldn’t or didn’t want anyone to know you had found it?” LaPierre asked.

He then his sights on variety of movies, including “Natural Born Killers,” which he said aired on television like “propaganda loops” on “Splatterdays.”

LaPierre also targeted violent music videos “that portray life as a joke and murder as a way of life. And then they have the nerve to call it ‘entertainment,’” LaPierre quipped.

The press conference from the NRA, which represents over 4 million Americans, comes on the heels of a national day of observance for the young victims, which took place earlier today.

Wonder if Diddy is going to get mad? Nobody cares if Vin Diesel is mad. Is Breezy doing too much?

According to a report on TMZ.com, the Los Angeles police have launched an investigation into Cee Lo for sexual battery.

The investigation, which is in its early stages, began after the woman filed a police report with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Cee Lo has denied any wrongdoing in the matter.

“Nothing ever happened there or anywhere else,” said Cee Lo, who is currently hosting the second season of the hit TV show “The Voice.”

The news also comes Cee Lo’s new Christmas album Cee Lo’s Magic Moment lands in stores.

The investigation is ongoing.

The rapper and four teenagers were charged with various charges, including attempted murder for the shooting, just after K Koke had inked a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.

After a month-long trial and 7 months on remand, K Koke was acquitted of all the charges levied against him.

“They had a picture of someone that wasn’t me,” K Koke said in an interview, stating that the police still targeted him for his lyrical content.

“After I came out of prison for the attempted murder thing, I moved out of the area and they [the police] came and found my house, gave me a beat down in the house, looking for firearms,” K Koke said, laughing.

Now that his legal troubles are behind him, the UK rapper, part of the Usual Suspects/USG Entertainment rap crew, is working on his Roc Nation debut and slowly making plans to come to America.

“Once I do well over here [the UK], but I can’t go over there [the United States] now,” K Koke said. “I haven’t accomplished what I need to accomplish over here it’s the beginning of my journey, and just walking it right now.”
