Since his departure from CTE, Gibbs has desecrated Jeezy’s name in interviews and songs. During his Grantland interview in promotion of his collaborative album with producer Madlib, entitled Pinata, Gibbs questions Atlantic Records Senior Vice President of A&R’s ability to run a label:

Of course he don’t know what he doing. Hell nah, he don’t know what the f*ck he doing. And I’mma stay on his punk a*s till he say something about it. I’mma keep drilling his punk ass into the ground.

His Pinata partner, Madlib revealed that he is planning on putting out an unreleased album under his Quasimoto moniker which was intended to be released before 2000′s The Unseen. Madlib also updates fans on his and MF Doom’s plans for Madvillain sequel:

[MF Doom] saying he recorded new material. We gon’ see, we gon’ see very soon. I’m gonna go to Europe, we gonna hook up with him. Next month, London, first thing I do is go see Doom.

Back in September of 2012, 50 Cent informed CBS Radio’s V103 host Ryan Cameron that “without the success I had, my son could have potentially been Chief Keef.”In his interview for Town Hall, 50 says that he truly felt Chief Keef was the next 50 Cent due to his circumstances and image:

The aggression level matched that of the actual environment he was from. Chicago. When you see the guy make a music video and it’s like 15 guys in the actual living room. It’s because they’re protecting him from the other 15 guys in the other living room that’s four or five blocks down.

Two months after that interview in 2012, 50 berated Chief Keef on his personal Twitter account for not showing up to his own video shoot for “Hate  Being Sober” which featured 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa. In July of 2013, 50 informed DJ Jenny Boom Boom that Keef “didn’t listen” to the advice he gave him and during his Town Hall interview on, he gave a theory as to why Keef was dismissive:

The things I said to him could easily be countered by someone saying ‘you hot. Why you think 50 talking to you? You got 50 Cent talking to you, fool. You hot. He ain’t hot. HE need YOU’

50 Cent’s Town Hall interview will premiere on SiriusXM’s satellite radio station,  website and app on March 31st.

“We gon’ do Blackout! 3. Reggie Noble is not stopping with just another joint effort with Meth. The Def Jam artist is tapping back into 1990′s inspired sampling for his next solo project.

“I’m coming out with a Muddy Waters 2. It’s going to be called Even Muddier,” said Redman. “I’m not trying to top the Muddy Waters album. What I’m doing by naming it Muddy Waters 2 is to let you relive that ’90s kind of sound and experience.”

“SCDC is in the process of investigating the video. Once the investigation is complete, inmates involved will be appropriately charged,” said SDSC spokesperson Stephanie Gibson.

The title of the video on WSHH is “South Carolina Inmates Film 1st Ever Music Video in Prison!” One person in the clip can be seen wearing a SCDC shirt and another raps about “South Cack.” Some of the inmates have apparently been identified.

The problem with this form of promotion is that it may violate SCDC rules. Cell phones are banned in South Carolina prisons and inmates do not have access to the internet.

In November of 2013, Tennessee rapper Struggle was accused of tricking prison officials in order to film portions of a video for his song “Black Curtains” behind bars. Struggle later explained to AllHipHop.com that he was granted permission to create the video at the Davidson County jail.

Owens, aka K.A.B (KillingAllBeatz), is in police custody after allegedly driving through a DUI checkpoint during SXSW in Austin, Texas last week. Two people were killed and two dozen were injured.

According to the LA Times, the 21-year-old rapper/producer was the founder of Strictly Mafioso Entertainment. The “local rapper” released a song called “Reason” on his Soundcloud account and a low-budget video titled “Stripper News.” Neither project received significant exposure.

Owens was charged with two counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault.

“I’d love to. I just don’t know how to do it,” said John when asked about incorporating Hip Hop into his music. “So, for me, I’d have to work with someone who knows about it, like a Pharrell or a Kanye, who I respect tremendously. I’d love to do that.”

The “Rocket Man” singer previously worked with Kanye on “All of the Lights” off Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Elton John was one of several uncredited artists to appear on the single along with John Legend, The-Dream, Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, Fergie, and Kid Cudi.

John also famously collaborated with Eminem for a performance of “Stan” at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

After finding out President Barack Obama placed him on a list of people who had their assets frozen, Vladislav Surkov responded by stating being blacklisted was an honor. He went on to add that he is not too concerned, because his interest in the United States only includes three things.

“I don’t have accounts abroad. The only things that interest me in the U.S. are Tupac Shakur, Allen Ginsberg, and Jackson Pollock,” Surkov told a Russian newspaper. “I don’t need a visa to access their work. I lose nothing.”

Surkov was among seven Russian citizens President Obama hit with sanctions after the Ukrainian province of Crimea voted to break away from the country and join Russia. The U.S. and the European Union have refused to recognize the Crimean secession.

President Putin has already officially declared Crimea an independent state. Many foreign policy experts expect Putin to annex the section into Russia.

The victim of that attack is now speaking about 50 and his new song. James Rosemond, Jr. of RoyalDream Music Group reached out to AllHipHop.com to provide the following statement:

First and foremost, when is it cool for four grown men in their 30′s to surround and hit a 14 year-old middle school kid? The incident in 2007 was a bad situation I didn’t deserve, and seven years later it’s now being made fun of in a record? What real gangster condones grown men assaulting a minor or a young man who has no involvement in the beef? Plus, these guys have kids of their own, and they should know better!

Secondly, who gets credit for trying to diss a man who is currently down and in no position to defend himself at this moment? It’s so easy to try to kick a man when he is down. What “real” street person applauds when a person is fighting against the same corrupt and prejudice system that has incarcerated a lot of black men? I guess that’s how some “gangster rappers” build their credibility… At the end of the day we are not catering to any negativity on our side and we have much bigger things to put our energy into.

Rosemond Jr is CEO of RoyalDream. The company recently broke a million dollar deal between Polo Grounds Music/RCA and Cincinnati’s Easy Lantana.

Earlier this month, 50 Cent confronted Steve Stoute at a New York Knicks game in Madison Square Garden over Stoute’s comments on Hot 97. According to 50, he simply informed Stoute that he was awaiting an apology from his former business associate:

I said, ‘That wasn’t very nice of you, Steve. To say what you said wasn’t really nice, and I think you should apologize,’

50 later admitted that he “said it a little different.” 50 divulged more information about his past with Steve Stoute, revealing that Stoute did not listen to 50 Cent’s new music when 50 came to him after getting shot. According to 50, Stoute only conducted the meeting with 50 to confirm his suspicions regarding 50′s shooting in May of 2000. 50 also reveals that Stoute advised him against signing with Eminem:

I was never able to get him on the phone again after that. Next time I saw him was actually when Em signed me to Los Angeles to come do the deal. He just showed up in the lobby, I’m like ‘how the f*ck you even know I’m there.’ He’s asking me questions. ‘Look, don’t do the deal with the white boy. Look, yo sh*t is serious. At the time, Em was doing ['Purple Pills' with D12], so he’s thinking [Eminem's] a joke.

50 later says that Stoute urged him to instead sign only with Dre and not with Eminem’s Shady Records.

G-Unit have not released an album together since 2008′s T.O.S (Terminate. On. Sight). According to 50, that is a result of the other members of G-Unit rightfully wanting to pursue their solo careers independent of the domineering presence that is 50 Cent:

You have to understand, their entire career they’ve been standing next to me on stage and not being the actual focus. That’s the way it first started. 50 Cent project and then you going to stand there until I say we going to sell your project. Okay, we going to sell yours now.

50 Cent also brushed off Tony Yayo’s comments on his personal Instagram in late February about quitting the music industry due to “too many b*tch as* n**as” wanting him to “brown nose all the time”:

I’ve seen [Yayo] say ‘sorry’ more than anything else in our conversations. His sorry don’t mean sorry. His sorry mean ‘nah man…chill ’till next time. That’s what he means, because he’s going to do it over and over. I love him. I grew up with him.

When asked about the early members of G-Unit, 50 simply said “Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo are the same person to me.”

As a microcosm of a greater society, Hip Hop has also often buried its head in the sand when it comes to facing anxiety and mood disorders. The stigma of being perceived as weak or afflicted inaccurately associated with mental illness conflicts with the Alpha male persona that is usually championed in rap music. But it is also hard to ignore the contradiction of Hip Hop’s obsession with celebrating “being real” with its tendency to ignore the real-life concerns of battling depression.

Pharoahe Monch is one member of the Hip Hop community that has chosen to keep it real by revealing his own past complications with mental health issues. Like a true artist, the South Jamaica, Queens emcee used those past experiences to inspire his work. His story about overcoming depression comes in the form of his upcoming concept album P.T.S.D. (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

“It was a challenge because it forced me to draw upon my health care and mental health,” says Monch. “Before I even started writing, I was like, ‘Yeah, this is going to be a challenge, but this is where an artist needs to be.’ I don’t think an artist can be comfortable. I think an artist should take chances, feel pressure, and try to live up to the ideas they’re trying to bring into fruition.”

Monch’s journey from his 1999 debut album Internal Affairs to his latest collection has included pit stops that have tested the celebrated lyricist. He struggled with depression and insomnia at one point in his life. It was those personal trials (and the apathy of his friends towards them) that would eventual inspire the P.T.S.D. album. Monch drew on his own past complications with mental health to create two particular songs on the project.

“‘Losing My Mind’ and the title track are actual accounts of me dealing with a bout of depression where I had been hospitalized with asthma. The attack at the time was real severe, so the amount of medication I was receiving was pretty harsh,” explains Monch. “After leaving the hospital, I went from taking the medication intravenously to pills, and I was just bombarded with not being able to sleep and overall not being able to process anything. I just remember being like ‘what the f**k is happening to me?’”

While Monch used that period to inspire his new album, he says his depressed state actually took place many years before. At the time, he reached out to the people around him, but many of the individuals he confided in brushed off the episodes.

“When I went to my friends, some of it was met with ‘have a drink,’ ‘chill out,’ ‘smoke a blunt,’ ‘you’re bugging.’ Some of it was met with ‘Yeah, okay. If it’s that f**king bad then you need to get real help,’” Monch says. “Luckily, that week I went to the dentist.”

It was that trip to the dentist that led to the performer eventually getting the help he needed. As he waited for his appointment, Monch had to fill out medical forms which included questions about current prescriptions he was taking. When the dentist viewed his paperwork he realized the combination of meds Monch listed were known to cause severe depression.

“I started crying in the office, because finally I’m like, ‘I get it now.’ I didn’t realize the s**t could be that real,” says Monch. “I called my doctor, and he says to do this, do that, stop taking this. I’m yelling at him like, ‘What the f**k? You gave me this s**t. You prescribed it.’”

On P.T.S.D., Monch not only provides a real-life based account of a man laboring against mental illness. He also narrates the conceptual saga of an independent artist’s life in the aftermath of a war against the entertainment industry and the struggle of being a Black man trying to survive in America. The LP features the single “Damage,” the hard-hitting “Bad MF,”  the Marco Polo-produced “Rapid Eye Movement” featuring Black Thought of The Roots, and the Talib Kweli assisted “D.R.E.A.M.”

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is set to arrive three years after Monch’s W.A.R. (We Are Renegades). That critically acclaimed project was his second album released after his prolonged legal fight to get out of his label deal with Geffen/Universal and his first album released on his independent label W.A.R. Media. P.T.S.D. is the continuation of the artistic and economic mission established by W.A.R.

“I thought it was fitting to do a record called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after a record call W.A.R. It really made a lot of sense,” Monch says. “The W.A.R. album actually did very good independently, but we are still hustling and struggling as an independent label and artists. Marketing, promotion, videos – all those things are still out-of-pocket. Since that was our first record, we’re just now getting it going.”

Up next Monch will be jumping into several visuals for P.T.S.D. The rhymer/producer presents his directorial debut with the “Bad MF” video being filmed in the near future. A few other tracks may get treatments as well.

“We’re trying to shoot ‘The Jungle.’ We’re trying to shoot ‘Rapid Eye Movement’ with Black Thought. I just spoke to him. He said he’s down,” Monch states. “The one I’m really most interested in is ‘Broken Again.’”

“Gotta move on. Gotta let go. Would’ve opened my eyes, if I would’ve known” are the opening lines of “Broken Again.” Mental illness may still be regulated to the shadows by people afraid to confront it, but Pharoahe Monch’s choice to shine a light on the subject via P.T.S.D. may open some eyes to overcoming the fear.

Its crazy to see how far a rapper has gone , from being that hot new artist on the block , bringing Lil Wayne to Harlem , all the way to stealing from the culture that embraced you. 

This sounds like a personal issue to me. Somebody must have a personal issue with him. But, this is what they streets are saying…so its all ALLEGEDLY as far as I’m considered.

Ever since 50 Cent’s inflammatory “How To Rob” song in 1999, he and Jay Z have appeared on songs together, performed together and most evidently thrown subliminal shots at each other. After admitting that he believes there are subsets of the listening public which “follows trends” and no longer wanted to hear his music, he illustrates this point by explaining his rise to fame in relation to Jay Z’s retirement phase:

Where was Jay Z from 2003 to 2006? I sold 23 million records from 2003 to 2006. He stopped making music. He said ‘I quit. We’ll get back to what we got later. I quit. Timeout. I’ll come back to play later.’ When he signed that Beyonce contract he was like ‘men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.’

Later in the interview 50 Cent stated that the first record he made with an artist outside of New York City was with UGK for “As The World Turns” in 1998. He made sure to quip that “after I had got shot Jay did ‘Big Pimpin” with UGK. I don’t know where he got the idea from.” While “Big Pimpin’” was actually released in April of 2000, a month before 50 Cent was infamously shot nine times, 50 explains he continues to throw shots at Jay Z “You need someone to work off.”

During his interview with The Breakfast Club back in July of last year, Jay spoke on predicting the 50 Cent takeover of 2003-2006 and warning his own Roc-A-Fella artists around September of 2002:

I remember one time walking in the studio. It was like a small gap. Bleek, Beans. Everybody was in there. I was like, ‘Man, I’m telling you, man. Y’all better..y’all better…y’all got a change right now. Just flood it. Put out a lot of music, because 50 Cent is coming. You know, four months later, ‘In Da Club’ hit.

While police and investigative journalists have yet to concretely expose the people responsible for the deaths of 2Pac and Biggie, a new documentary has taken on the task of shedding a light on the complicated stories behind their killings.

Lloyd Lake, a former associate of Death Row’s Marion “Suge” Knight, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the tell-all documentary about the Pac and Big murders. The goal of the film is “exposing the government turning a blind-eye to Suge Knight’s involvement due to his role as a government informant.”

Takashi Bufford (Set It Off, Booty Call) served as producer and director for the documentary. The movie will feature interviews with Reggie White, who is described as Tupac’s bodyguard and Suge Knight’s right-hand man, and lawyers familiar with the justice system’s lack of interest in prosecuting anyone involved in the cases. It will also explore the idea of the government using informants to gather information on the Hip Hop community.

“The fact that 17 years has gone by without anyone being prosecuted and there are multiple related shootings and deaths connected with Tupac’s murder for which no one has been charged, this forces us to look at the glaring fact that the legal system failed,” states Lake. “It’s my goal with this documentary to put not only those involved on trial but to reveal the shameful cover up and reveal the truth and facts in the case.”

The documentary hopes to answer the following questions:

• What does the Government know about Tupac and Biggie murders?
• Why are there no prosecutions of the individuals involved in the Tupac and Biggie murders?
• Are there informants involved within the Government’s investigation of the “Hip Hop” music industry?
• Is the Government disclosing the informants involvement in the prosecution of “Hip Hop” artist?
• Why are individuals with significant criminal convictions (strikes) still committing crimes and never prosecuted?

Lake is looking to raise $150,000 over the next 30 days. If the filmmakers are able to reach their goal in the allotted time, the documentary will be released to the public.

Anyone who donates more than $25 will receive an advanced copy of the DVD. Other prizes are available as well including a signed copy of the film, a poster of Tupac and Biggie, and VIP invitations to the movie’s premiere.

The YMCMB rapper now says he is more careful about what he raps about. In an interview with MTV, Wayne states that his upcoming Tha Carter V will be reflective of a more mature artist.

“I say it’s different, because I’m older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now,” says Wayne.

He continues, “I’m more careful about what I’m doing and trying to be more careful about what I’m saying. There were times where I didn’t care, and it’s not that I didn’t care. It’s just that I knew I had people above me or around me that was going to make sure whatever I said or shouldn’t have said. Well now, I’m those people.”

Walker was found dead outside the Daron Village Apartments in Northwest Atlanta. He had been shot multiple times. Isiah Knight told police he was robbed and shot at the complex as well. Both incidents are being linked to Talley.

DG Yola is best known for “the 2006 song “Ain’t Gon Let Up.” The 28-year-old rapper was previously convicted of shooting his cousin in the chest in 2009 and served three years in prison.

Yola is being held at the Fulton County Jail.

According to Q an in interview with The Associated Press, the event has lost its focus on the independent artist and become “corporate”:

It’s stupid. They changed it all up. It’s corporate. I don’t ever want to come back unless they change it to where the fans are in. I’m tired of performing and seeing my fans outside the gate. … That’s not fair. It’s not about the fans no more, it’s all about money, who can give you the best look

The article stated that the interview took place this past Saturday (March 14) as he prepared for a show, which may have been his performance at Spin Magazine’s Spin Day Party. Following his performance, Q sent out a few tweets from his personal Twitter account complaining about his set and SXSW as an event:

Q’s SXSW was one full of technical difficulties. Q was apparently denied entry into 50 Cent’s SXSW performance days before his Spin Day Party appearance:

On a recent episode, The Morning Show host suggested that Jay Z was now riding the coattails of his “little brother” Kanye West and that did not sit too well with Hov. In the latest “The Realness,” Rosenberg reveals that Jay actually called him recently to confront him about saying that he is “jockin” Kanye for recording a song with Daft Punk.

According to Rosenberg the conversation started with the Roc Nation boss saying, “You always talking your [expletive]. Can I talk my [expletive] for a minute? What’d you say bout me the other day?”

“He went on to explain to me in very clear detail why those words should never come out of my mouth,” says Rosenberg. “I won’t say everything that he said, but I will say he definitely made some clear, salient, strong points that I couldn’t argue very well, and I respected it.”

The two years probation includes 250 hours of community service and thirty days of anger management. West was also sentenced to one day in jail but soureces say he will not step behind bars and will reportedly be booked and released immediately after.

This sentence is the result of West pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery after initially pleading not guilty back in November of 2013.

Brown was originally ordered to remain in the rehabilitation center until his pending assault case in Washington, DC began in April.

Police arrested Brown after he was thrown out of the facility for breaking internal rules – refusing to take a drug test (he later agreed) and touching a woman’s hand and elbow (he was required to remain two feet away from all women).

The judge also stated that Brown’s apparent comments about being “good at using guns and knives” while completing his rehab program was troubling, and his “inability to stay out of trouble” led to the decision to not allow him to enter another rehab facility.

Brown is to remain jailed until April 23rd when his D.C. trial ends. It is scheduled to begin on April 17th.
