Listen, let's say it. I'm from NYC (by way of the Boogie Woogie), born and raised. And I'm of an age, where I know HIP HOP (the entire art form). How can this nigga be the "best MC" ever, when you still got dudes alive that were always better than him? From KRS, to G Rap, to Rakim, to even his so-called peers, Nas, Method Man, so many others. I never liked the dude when he was alive, and my thoughts won't change cause he's dead! No disrespect to him, cause he's life loss was unforturnate...but that doesn't warrant him the best MC ever! He wasn't all that! Seriously, niggas be killing with that shit, especially all these lil' niggas coming up, where BIG, and Wu-Tang is ol' school to them! Let me tell you what I give "credit" to BIG for, if that...He brought the East Coast back, in a time it was dominated by the West Coast; but he did it with a West Coast sound! "Juicy" "Big Poppa" 'Warning"...all them shits had a West Coast vibe to it. The only East Coast songs he had that were that, East Coast, was "Suicidal Thoughts" - produced by Lord Finesse, and the re-mix to "One more chance" produced by DJ Premier...That's that!Nas was out at the same time, and his album is a certified classic (Illmatic) and it was all Easr Coast! So was Blackmoon, MOP, Wu-Tang, MOBB DEEP, Big L, The Roots...I mean I could go on forever. So they need to stop it. His moms banking in off of him, like he was this "prodigy" or something. He was a cat in the hat MC with a "couple" of OK metaphors. Nothing impressive! They should be making a movie about 2pac, (and he wasn't the best either) at least he had more substance, and more diversity, and more of a relevant past because of who his father and mother were, and his up bringing. NYC get over it, and I'm from here...I won't even go and pay for someone to watch this movie!

EVEN WITH ALL THE LEGENDS YOU JUST NAMED, THEY DIDNT DO THAT. BIG IS STILL MORE RELEVANT IN HIP HOP THAN PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE YOU NAMED, SO IN OTHER WORDS STOP HATING, AND AT LEAST GET THE MOVIE ON BOOTLEG. AND PAC WAS AND STILL IS THE G.O.A.T. PEACE

Ok......I am a 37 yr. old NYC (BK ALL DAY) Hip Hop head who remembers life before Hip Hop. Though you make a few valid points why do you feel you need to disrespect B.I.G. in order to make them??

#1. - Who is or isn't the G.O.A.T. is a matter of opinion not fact. Why cats get all Carl Thomas about that shit. (Though I do agree that B.I.G. is not the G.O.A.T.)

#2. - As far as bringing the East Coast back....I never really agreed with the fact the East went anywhere. Yeah, the West was making major noise, but I think it was the natural progression of Hip Hop especially seeing how the Midwest and more recently the South has had their run as well. The East is just where it began. There was more than just B.I.G. going on at that time. Hip Hop never leaves the East for real heads, you just have to know where to look. Don't look to your favorite "Hip Hop" radio station.

#3. - Your "West Coast sound" comment is a definite stretch. If anything I'll say with Big Poppa they might have been trying a lil bit, but Juicy?? Cats been rhyming to that Mtume beat since the 80's!!! As far as the "West Coast sound" they got that sound from cats like EPMD who were sampling Zapp & Parliment\Funkedelic in the late 80's and early 90's. I also noticed you only mentioned songs from Ready to Die not Life After Death, why??

Overall I just think you had a personal dislike for B.I.G. for some reason or another, you said "I never liked the dude when he was alive", but  don't let that dislike turn into hate.

That dude up there is right...Biggie was an OK emcee, people think he's the best because he's dead....nobody was sayin he was the best when he was alive...what sense does it make to say it when he's dead? like he can appreciate it more now that he's dead or something....people are fucking idiots i swear....and he's been dead for how long and NOW they wanna make a movie...like the younger generation is gonna give a flyin fuck who Biggie was.....the guy did not bring the EAST COAST back because the east coast never left. We started this shit, we will always be around. The movie's gonna suck, its not gonna do good in numbers because Voletta's behind it. It's gonna capture a very biased depiction of Biggie's life because his mom is gonna sugar-coat the shit out of the whole thing...watch...

Big is and always will be the greatest rapper of all time. So yeah I said it needs to watch his mouth. and get a better understanding of what hes talkin about. BIG was a great influence to the youth at his time of shineing. He made juicy and told about his struggles in the community that he grew up in and how he made it out and made something of himself. I'm not gonna discredit cats like KRS1 and all them other old school cats because they pioneered the way for other cats. But BIG was just lyrical and a genius with his. Dont worry homey. you dont have to watch the movie. I'ma watch it WAY more than once so I can count all you loser and sucka ass niggas thats not gonna go see it. BIG was a masterful MC. He bought the east coast back true indeed but he also touched many younger MCs like myself. Ya Dig?? you from the BX anyways of course you gonna hate a BK nigga being the greatest. you already know what it is. Brooklyn Pioneers alot of this shit. rap was invented in the BX but Brooklyn Niggas perfected it. Chea!!!!! like BIG, Jay, FaB. Foxy at her highlight in the game, MOP. Big and Jay are in alot of peoples top 5.

I agree that fans being immovable on the G.O.A.T status is annoying for some people but it is human nature to put titles like this on people who have died before their time...BIG, Tupac, Big L, JMJ...and in other genres Kurt Cobain, Elvis...and even in movies with Heath Ledger, etc, etc. With that said, it shouldn't take away from the fact that BIG could have done so much had he lived and that is what annoys people. Think about what he could have gone with some of the people out at the moment?

I completely disagree with "Yeah I Said It" when he talks about Tupac having a more relevant past...what the hell is this about?? Do we all need to have a crack mother in order to appreciate hip hop? It sounds like you think only black people should make and listen to hip hop...you proved your ignorance there!

Anyway, as was said before, I hope they do this film right, otherwise it's going to mess up BIG's legacy and we all know Diddy has done enough already!

I'm checkin it out.  if u love hip hop u would too.  this is a story of his life. and it's a major production too, not some old rinky dink film.

and about the G.O.A.T. discussion...B.I.G. is the best that ever did it.  the flow, the storytellin, the lyrics, the swagger, the stage presence, wit/ wordplay, style.  Look how many rappers use his lines, try 2 copy his voice.  and another thing people don't think about... we argue bout BIG being the greatest and he only made 2 albums...just 2 and he's already considered the GOAT, so just imagine if he had the chance 2 put out more albums...there would be no question!

The Notorious One said:

Biggie is without a doubt the greatest rapper ever.  He's got the illest rhymes known to mankind.  Nobody tops his rhymes, not 2pac, not nobody.  I can't compare him to guys like Rakim, KRS ONE, Run-DMC, cuz they r different kind of rappers.  They r old school.  When we talk about rap today (i ain't talkin about the Flo-Rida type bullshit rap) we r talking about gangsta/hardcore rap and Biggie and Tupac own that category.  I personally think Biggie is the better rapper and the best rapper ever.  He always was, is, and always will be.  There has never been a single soul to spit rhymes even close to the level that Biggie did.  Biggie would stack rhyme after rhyme like it wouldn't ever stop. It's crazy.  2pac on the other hand is also amazing.  2pac's rhymes don't compare to Biggie's all though they r amazing as well.  Pac had better beats maybe, but i think he focused more on that than the rhymes, like most west coast rappers.  Also when Pac wasn't running his mouth, dissing Biggie and other rappers, he could do a damn good job of telling a story through rhyme, i think that is why he is more connectible to some listeners.  But Biggie could tell a story and then do a great song with a great party beat, all at the same time and sometimes in the same song, which is truly Notorious.  All though i love 2pac as a rapper, i find it hard to respect him as a person, cuz he was such a loudmouth asshole.  I swear to God i think he spent half his life dissing Biggie and the East Coast and other rapper  to the media.  And there r so many songs where he mentions these rappers and disses them.  It's ridiculous.  And the guy claims he is on the West Coast, but he was fuckin born in East Harlem.  but whatever.  If anything happened to him he would go ranting on to the media, it went from Biggie, to the rest of the East Coast, to Dre, and even Snoop!  That is why i have trouble respecting him.  And i doubt Biggie knew about his shooting.  Has anyone heard Biggie talk about it?  No way he knew, no way.  And notice through all this bullshit, Pac runnin his mouth and shit, Biggie kept quiet?  Biggie did the respectable thing and didn't answer back to Pac cuz he knew how ridiculous and immature 2pac was acting.  And i think Biggie's silence in this angered 2pac even more.  So Biggie did the respectable and honorable thing.  I think BIG made some songs about 2pac's idiocy such as What's Beef and some other lines in other songs, but he never said Pac's name so 2pac had nothin on him accept the blame for his shooting, which who the fuck knows if that is true or not.  Big mentioned 2pac in one song with Jay-Z (Brooklyn's Finest) and it was a joke about 2pac's claim to fucking his wife.  Another thing that probably wasn't true that was escalated way too far by Pac and the media.  Hit Em' Up is just ridiculous, that is where 2pac took it way too far.  It's almost like he asking to be shot to death in that song.  Anyone who claims Biggie wouldn't be the rapper he is today if it wasn;t for 2pac, is just a fuckin joke, cuz Biggie became famous as a rapper before Tupac did.  Tupac didn't have any good-selling albums until Me Against the World which came out in '95 and Ready to Die (one of the best-selling rap albums of all time) came out by BIG in 94'.  But i do love 2pac as a rapper, he is the best ever along with BIG.  And it's a cryin' shame that BIG and PAC got into such a huge fued, cuz has anyone ever heard or seen them together?  They r amazing together. Obviously, i mean they R the best rappers ever. lol.  If i would blame anyone for the East Coast - West Coast Feud, i think it would be Suge Knight cuz he made the first comment about the opposing coast when he dissed Puff Daddy and Bad Boy when they began to become successful.  But I think 2pac escalated it the most, which ultimately led to his death and the death of Biggie.  The 2 greatest rappers of all time.  Biggie did revitalize the east coast, when at the time the West was taking over.  If anyone does hate on Biggie and Pac they should die, cuz rap would be nothing without them.  All though i believe Biggie and Pac are the most influential rappers of all time, i understand how people say rappers like Rakim and KRS-ONE were more influential because they influenced guys like Pac and BIG.  When Pac and Big may have influenced more people and more rappers, they influenced rappers today who aren't so great. lol.  I wouldn't even call some of them rappers.  And i hate Lil' Wayne, by the way.  And about the movie, i can't fuckin wait for it.  But it better be good, and i believe it will be.  But i am an optimist.  If it is bad, it's just disrespect.  But then again if 2pac isn't alive, then somebody is disrespecting the shit out of him too, because they r makin it look like he is really alive and spawnin' out albums every other year.  crazyness.  I think a better idea for a movie would be, a movie with 2pac's and Biggie's point of views through their careers and the feud.  This way no one will be made out to be the bad guy.  Because, all though i think 2pac is more of the bad guy, no one really knows for sure who the real bad guy is.  They both are for all we know.  In conclusion, i believe Biggie is the best rapper of all time, but Pac is right there under him.  Nobody compares to the legacies of Pac and Big.  Peace out!
