i feel you homie...i'm from bk (ebbets field)...i'm 25...masters degree...and now a family...i learned what I had to learn in the hood...(trust me...i was out there wildin'...basketball gave me opportunity) I survived it and moved on...all of these fools talking about going back blah blah HAVE NEVER LEFT...if you grew up in what we had to grow up in YOU WON'T WANT TO GO BACK...not cause you scared...my parents still live there...its because I worked hard...and my parents sacrificed too much to see me land up back there...and I did alot of the same things those cats are STILL DOING NOW...matter of fact...my sister (masters degree) 2 brothers (one with masters and one with bachelors degree) came out of there and arent' back there...I guess we're not real???
