The R Kelly Trial: A Play by Play Part Nine - The End of the Road

The views expressed in this Trial Update are not the views expressed by AllHipHop.com. This is purely for entertainment value.

Today, after getting what was probably the most upsetting news I have received since finding out that Kelly Rowland had plans of re-releasing her album, I decided to play Amy Winehouse’s “Me and Mr. Jones” over and over again. Why? Because at the beginning of the song she sings, “What kind of f**kery is this?”

After finding out that R. Kelly had been acquitted of all child pornography charges, that was exactly how I felt. However, any thoughts that with R’s acquittal I would have nothing to say are as wrong as coming back from Mexico and not trying to smuggle drugs into the US.

I am writing this with a heavy heart. Truth is, when I initially got the news of The King of R&Pee’s acquittal, I was in the middle of writing an update on the events of the days prior.

Some of these events included testimony of another video “expert,” more discussions about R. Kelly’s mole, and several of the jurors acting up in court and at restaurants. But I guess none of it matters anymore.

One question still lingers in my mind though. What type of hallucinogens was the jury on? Who in their right mind could not see that R was guilty as sin? Over seven days presenting their case, prosecutors called 22 witnesses, including several childhood friends of the alleged victim and four of her relatives who identified her as the female on the video.

In just two days, Lawyer Douchebag called just 12 witnesses (as many as R. could buy without looking suspicious). They included three relatives of the Pissee (for old time’s sake) who testified they did not recognize her as the young “lady” on the tape. That doesn’t even make sense! Especially since most of the witnesses Lawyer Douchebag called to the stand didn’t say anything profound.

Furthermore, they showed the goddamned porno in the courtroom over and over! So much that I’m sure many of the jurors had favorite parts!  Did R. Kelly have to urinate directly into one of the juror’s mouths for people to realize that it was him? I guess this is what money and fame get you, an acquittal! I have lost all faith in our justice system! I’m moving to Cuba, where things are fair!

I couldn’t help but also think about the future of stars of this trial. The King of R & Pee and his Pissee. I think the Pissee will go on to do great things. I think she has a bright future in entertainment…in Bangkok, where she will give live sex shows with live chickens and muskrats. As for R. Kelly, I think he will continue his string of hit records, and hell…we may even get a gospel album out of him. Later in his lif,e he will become the spokesperson for a new line of diapers for old people battling incontinence. What will it be called? Child’s Mouth.

Unfortunately, I did not get the verdict that I wanted but, if I was a betting man…I would say that we have not seen the last of R. Kelly’s home video collection. I thank you all for taking this ride with me. It’s been an interesting trial like I promised. I will see you all at my next screaming party! Love you all like a crack habit…

u right on dat shit, if them damn murderin ass cops got off, why not Kellz? jus keep his ass away from my kid lol. on da real tho, u can't find somebody guilty if there's reasonable doubt. and the fact that there was people sayin that it wasn't the girl on da tape, da fact that the girl said it wasn't her on da tape, and da fact that ol dude testified that they was tryin to extort kellz, that all adds up to reasonable doubt. real talk as kellz would say

Just a few points.

-Kiko, your journalistic integrity is a joke. All the while you've been cracking crude jokes, the man's life is on the line. Your bias has been evident from the the start so enjoy your first lesson in Karma 101.

-The case was weak from the beginning. Many people mention the tape as obvious proof but the quality was 3rd generation poor and even if you could make out the image of R kelly, you certainly cant make out the girl. Also, the girl accused of being in the video denied it was her and the only testimony the prosecution had to refute her denial was a school coach who said he knew it was her because of her " big head" and family members who testified that it was her were equally countered by family members for the defense who said it was not. The parents never testified to say it was their daughter. Lastly, the Big witness for the prosecution had credibility issues. She admitted she stole from him and it was shown she tried to extort him. The journalist who wrote the story about the tape pleaded his 5th amendment right against self incrimination. ( basically saying I aint saying s*** that might get me thrown in jail.). Kinda funny that NO ONE who knew Kelly was doing young girls went to the POLICE but instead thought only about themselves.

Here's the thing. The prosecution sold it's soul to go after Kelly.  Sparkle and the #1 witness BOTH received immunity for their testimony despite the fact they either broke the law or had their own agenda. Think about it. The 'star' witness admitted she had sex with Kelly and a minor and got FULL immunity?? That undermines the integrity of the prosecutor's case. There were plenty of other guilty parties involved. Some are mainly to blame and others were guilty by association.

The case simply wasn't there. I'm sure many of you felt R Kelly should go to jail and perhaps he should. However proving it in a court of law and going by your gut feelings based on Kelly's previous marriage to Aaliyah and some afterparty and studio rumors isn't enough.

Shame on you AHH for letting that hack of a writer Kiko give such offensive commentary on such an important case.

I SEE THERE'S ALOT OF VERY NAIVE PEOPLE POSTING COMMENTS ABOUT THE VERDICT CLAIMING THAT IT'S FINALLY OVER AND R KELLY IS INNOCENT,,,,VERY MUCH SO EXPECTED,WHEN IT COMES TO BLACK CELEBRITIES ,TO US AS AFRICAN AMERICANS,THEY CAN'T DO NO WRONG. I HAPPEN TO HAVE A DVD COPY OF THE SEX TAPE WHICH I'VE HAD FOR 6  YRS NOW AND IT PLAYS CLEAR AS DAY,THAT IS R KELLY UNDENIABLY.IF YOUR  BANK ACCOUNT IS PHAT ENOUGH YOU TEND TO HAVE ENOUGH INFLUENCE ON ALL PARTIES INVOLVED IN SUCH A CASE,,,,,FOR THE STUPID FOLKS OUT THERE,,WHEN R KELLY DID MTV CRIBS ABOUT 7-8 YRS AGO HE SHOWED THAT PART OF HIS HOUSE FOR THOSE WHO REMEMBER AND THE SECTION OF HIS HOUSE WAS ALSO USED IN THE VIDEO FOR "HALF ON A BABY",,,IF IT WAS ONE OF US COMMON FOLKS WE WOULD BE PUT UNDER THE JAIL 6 YRS AGO,,,,,,I WATCH ALOT OF COURT TV AND I'VE SEEN MEN SENTENCED TO MORE TIME FOR ALOT LESS WHEN THE PROSECUTION DID'NT HAVE HALF THE EVIDENCE THEY DID IN THIS CASE,,HE IS A GENIUS WHEN IT COMES TO THE MUSIC THING BUT IT'S APPARENT HE GETS HIS INSPIRATION FROM THE LITTLE KIDS HE LIKES TO MESS WITH. R KELLY HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND HIS FANS TEND TO LET HIS TALENT OVER SHADOW THE TRUTH ABOUT HIM,,,HE IS A PETOFILE,AND IT'S NOT OVER EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS 360 DEGREES,WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND,,,,,ONE OF THESE DAYS I WON,T BE SURPRISED TO TURN ON THE NEWS AND HEAR THAT HE COMMITTED SUICIDE,(or sumthin of that nature)

I don't think he did it. And, even if he did, there were enough holes in the case against him to give the jury reasonable doubts about it. And, if they have reasonable doubts, under U.S. law they can't convict him.

We've got a third or fourth generation copy of some tape,  showing some unrecognizable people doing something, and a thief that stole his watch, and that tried to extort money from him, testifying against him. And, then the girl herself saying it wasn't her on the tape. I'd expect to be acquitted also, as the case was shaky from the get go.

Also, it doesn't make sense to me that a man with R's fame and wealth, who could have any number of beautiful women probably, would risk all that by taping himself having sex with some teeny-bopper. And, then letting the tape fall into someone else's hands. How could he possibly be that stupid? I don't believe he was.

Unfortunately though, some people will now believe he is a pedophile, regardless of the verdict.

i seen the tape and i would say beyond reasonable doubt its definitley kells
i said from the get go that he will walk cuz he got money
he prolly paid ol girl off not to testify.
i got 4 years in the pen for a drum (breaking and entering)
but if i was a paedophile i would probably have got off with probation or a suspended sentence.
it seems that the justice system is as fucked up in the states as it is in the uk.

Sorry to have broke the news to you Kiko while your were in the middle of writing, but hey...at least u got wind of the  ruiling before you finished. HAHA!

Its been SIX YEARS..and on Friday the 13th in 08' Kells finally got the monkey off his back. I'm a fan of R Kelly, not Kells. If you get my drift. I think around 02' or '03 he turned into Kells. And I despise KELLS!

A homiee of mine who doesn't reside in Chicago said to me, "I know your happy about R Kelly." - Not even, I know how he gets down. Its no secret. And truth be told I didn't want to see him go to jail. WHY U ASK? I can't even really explain it. Its f*cked up. But in all, I knew deep down he wasn't going to jail. Sometimes you can't explain unconditional love, and that's what a lot people have for this man, especially folks in Chicago.

Money doesn't always get you off, case in point - Martha Stewart, Lil Kim, Marion Jones, Wesley Snipes, and Foxy Brown.
All the crimes these folks commited have nothing on what Kells was on trial for, and they went to jail.

08' is going to be interesting. First Obama now R Kelly.

What's next for black folks, REPERATIONS?? (yeah right)

That episode of The Boondock's was all to coincidental.

Folks (fans of Kells) were outside the court house cheering when he came out. Yes, they really were. Just like in the episode of The Boondocks. What more can I say???

@ Jaymilz

Members of the jury said they had no doubt that it was R kelly or his home in the video but no one could positively make out the girl. The parents didnt testify. The alleged girl said it wasnt her. The quality of the tape was poor.

The jury voted on the presented evidence. NOT on the inadmissable 'under the table' talk you keep referencing. You ask if it were my child, the truth of the matter is.. it wasnt mine or yours. If the parents accepted settlement money, then that speaks to their character , therefore it was THEM that undermined the case. So blame them.

Kelly did what any one with money facing a 14 count indictment would do...spend whatever necessary to prevent going to jail. You dont have to buy his music. You dont have to like him at all but you should expect him to fight vigorously to survive. he has a right to defend himself.  To strip him of that would leave leave you or me vulnerable to the whims of an overzealous distict attorney with no protection.

I will admit that Kelly has alot of problems. I hope he takes what's happened to him as a warning and get it together. If statistics are true, this wont be the last time we'll hear about Kelly and problems with the law. Until then, cases cant be given to juries based on gut feelings and street hearsay. They need credible people who place a greater value on justice than financial settlements. That litle girl wasnt let down by just R Kelly. She was let down by the people entrusted to protect her against harm. They failed and because of their mispriorties, they failed her.

Let's cut to the chase. People say it's him because they watched the video. WATCHED the video. WATCHED a video even after hearing R. Kelly was alledgedly having a sex with a 13 year old. I mean come on. What type of stuff would possess you to that just to turn around and be angry because was found not guilty. You should be turning yourselves over to the DA's office and asking to be punished because you took part in "child pornography" *Sigh* It's all good and dandy until you find yourself in court and people are pronouncing you guilty before you even had your day in court. Get over it and get on with your lives.

Sounds like frivolous lawsuits to me though others may say I'm in denial. meh
