It’s been almost four years
since R&B sensation Brandy released any music. Has anyone missed
her? I don’t know about you, but I have. Brandy has always been unique
in her own way - whether she’s singing, acting or modeling.
I must
say that I’m glad that she’s making a comeback. There’s no need
to revisit the ups and down that Brandy has experienced in the last
few years, but it’s refreshing to know that she hasn’t let those
trials and tribulations hold her down.
This past week, I had the pleasure
of meeting Brandy for the first time. She looked great! She was all
smiles, very very humble and thin as a rail, but that’s ok we all
know she doesn’t eat any meat!
But anyway, I got to hear her
new single "Right Here (Departed)." Initially, I wasn’t sure about
the song. Brandy has had some hits over the years, and even though this
song is decent, I don’t think I’m going to put it in her category
of “hits.” “I Wanna Be Down,” “Baby,” “Best Friend,”
“The Boy is Mine,” “Almost Doesn’t Count,” “Full Moon,”
and “Have You Ever” - those were all hits, but this song is missing
the same staying power.
I love the message in “Right
Here (Departed)” which speaks about people supporting one another
when times get tough, similar to her relationship between her and her
fans. In my opinion, it comes across as more of an album cut or third
single as opposed to the first single after a four year hiatus. But
then again, I guess the song portrays Brandy’s true feelings, so she
wanted to come back expressing just that. What do you think - Hot or
Not?
Brandy is set to drop a new
album titled Human in November, but prior to then, I’m hoping
she’ll drop another single that’s bangin’!
