Sales-wise, Ashanti may not have done as well as previous efforts, but her latest CD was her best. Her other CDs were marketed to Hip Hop audiences, but this go round you can tell she worked with vocal coaches and R&B producers instead of just singing off-key and throwing a Ja Rule verse on the end of the track. If she keeps grinding, she'll build up a good fan base.

Irv Gotti is an idiot. Ashanti held The Inc. down. I know he mad plenty of money from her albums. She ain't the greatest singer, but artistically and vocally she has grown and I feel she's outgrown the Inc. If anything I think Irv needs her. NOBODY is checkin for the Inc. She is really the only viable artist on the roster. Her latest album was barely promoted but you could see and hear the growth. If Gotti can't or won't take advantage of that hopefully somebody else will.
