Wendy Day is definitely knowledgeable in this area. She said exactly what I learned concerning dealing with some of the more well known that are still *active* rappers. Sometimes it can work in your favor, but a lot of times it works against you. Innovative marketing is the most preferred skill behind making dope music in my opinion. A lot of artists rush, if you make dope music, it really becomes a matter of having the right marketing approach to releasing it.

Keep in mind that the Internet is a great marketing tool, but there are so many people on the net that marketing your music online is almost like doing it on the streets. You have to attract the right people to your style and then build on that. But please, try to make good music first. I know the idea of "good music" is subjective since everyone likes different things and have different taste.

When my best friend encouraged me to put my music on MySpace I was reluctant at first simply because so many people put their music on there that peeps are beginning to ignore that shit. But the response has been great, so I think making good music and staying true to your creed is very important. I did all the hole in the wall club shit way back in the mid to late nineties. Local shows are overrated. It is far more effective to do shows when you have a buzz and a fan base than to just go around doing "open mic" shit. Thanks for the informative info Wendy.
