I don't think that Hip-Hop would be much different than what it is now. The Bronx maybe would have held it down a little longer, but That's about it. Hip-Hop has universal effect. It was bound to migrate West, South and Mid-West really heavy. So the changes would have came sooner or later whether he was here or not.

All those mentioned are definitely legends and had a great impact on the direction of the culture, but I think that is just to big a "what if" to ask, being how the music and the climate of the industry not the culture have changed so quickly.

P.S. I'm from the X! Respect to all the founding fathers and all the people who gave and set a pace in Hip Hop.

I agreee but I guess its always fun to wonder .. Like would some of these new cats be more humble... Yall know some of them a lil outta line.

But either way Hip Hop would have evolved. Of course it has to so these cats can make money..

Me now a days though alot of songs sound the same I but thats i guess the way the industry is.

Maybe Im one of the people that sometimes thinks that some of the originality is gone out of Hip Hop and that maybe why im a bog Kanye and Talib fan..

Not that i dont listen to others but originality is a plus.

shindogg perhaps you shuold go do some research. th emusic you decry that 50 does was being done by KRS at that time, including dissing other rappers so he can get put on. So understand that when peoepl look back everythign was not all good, even thought criminal minded was a classic. "dis scott la rock nigga" as you call it was an integral part of the early second wave of hiphop.

Scott La rock to me is a legend not only in the BX and NY but to hip hop its self... True hip hop heads know of him and know that he could have had a major effect on hip hop as a whole if he would have lived!!!

it was also an early case of the no snitch mentality. The killers were brought to trial but were acquitted because none of the witnesses, including the People on the scene, wanted to testify. I believe chris lighty and just ice were on the scene. After being acquitted the killers conspicuously "disappeared". Street justice aparently

nice article...although, following the writers scenario, I don't believe KRS, being a man of great ego at the time, would have defended his own music and position, and would not have shared that spotlight with anyone. If KRS continued his assault on the juice crew, I believe that BDK would have responded, and maybe he would have released "The Wrath Of Kane" instead of "Taste Of Chocolate"; thereby reviving his career, instead of destroying it.
