Yo Immortal that's cool but what do you think of Jay Z's new joints?

Just kidding, but I'm not kidding.

Immortal Technique has studied his history no doubt and writes very well. Obviously he is against capitalism.
But about what he is for is vague. Not much concrete practical information.
Knowing your history is a great thing. But what is my history?
My own history started the day I was born. My family history goes back into time. I'm from the human race. People say I'm Black and I'll defend that if they try to use it against me. But what does it mean? Is it real scientific? If I look at what is called Black history it makes me sad and angry about how what is called "my people" have been exploited. It's supposed to make me feel good pointing out all these contributions but what about then to know that all the contributions were stolen?
You know what is one question that comes up? -Why did we let all our contributions be stolen are we not the biggest suckers of the world?
So part of that history doesn't build my self esteem. We may have had these contributions but we were to weak to protect them allowed ourselves to get tricked whatever. So I might feel good about the pyramids a few thousand years ago but I don't feel so good about our long decline since those ancient times. Much more recently our great great great grand fathers were on the auction block and necks in nooses swinging.
The Egyptians had a military but how come the Romans and were able to defeat it?

You know something I've read some history and it's interesting
but I can't get caught up in all this stuff to try to make myself feel good about myself. For me that comes out of not about who I am supposed to be historically but what I am able to achieve right now. I don't feel good about myself just by reading history I've got to do things in the here and now, accomplish things to make myself feel good. And if I'm lazy and don't build something on a particular day I don't feel so good that day despite knowing about the glorious history of my ancestors peace be upon them.
So if my mother was a great woman and I am not really doing much to improve myself and help other people, I'm proud of my mother, but she doesn't make me great, only I can do that. If my mother was a bad person that doesn't mean I'm bad. It's like if you look at some people of some so called race from some remote isolated area of the world, the person who comes from there might not be able to say that their people did all these big things compared to some other culture. But he or she as an individual can.
It's good to know about where you're from but it's not about where your from it's about where you're at. What you did or did not do today.
It's more people who are trying to amass power who insist that we be defined as our so called history and race.
That's political power and it has it's place but I'm more interested in my own potential rather than going to war.

The purpose of historical knowledge is to learn and examine the circumstances and actions of yourself and those that came before you to understand how to live in the present. Black people cannot honestly expect to master politics or any modern problem without actually understanding the problem in depth. That is what historical knowledge provides.

There is nothing about our present condition as individuals and a people that does not have its roots in past actions. If you did nothing yesterday, but did something today, it was history a second ago. Time is relative, so you have to look at the past as a continuum that is more like a feedback loop, it is not a straight line. So what you put into right now is going to repeat itself in what some people would call "results" in their "present". The future is the anticipation of those results. That's all it really is, human beings chronicle their lives as events, or stories, but the stories are just more accessible. Technically you could create a mathematical formula of time, and it would look like a physics equation called E=MC(2).

Every human innovation is not so much a "new discovery", but more like an adapted application through the use of knowledge and information that was accumulated previously. Immortal Technique was laying out information without much interpretation, which is why he apologized at the beginning.

It is important for Black people in America, and all over the world to understand our history because it was deliberately whitewashed. Yes, our accomplishments were stolen to lend credit to those people that did not accomplish those things. It was so thorough that today many Black people say they derive nothing from their history even when they learn the truth. No other self-respecting group of people on the planet feel that way.

White people of European descent ride the accomplishments of the Greeks and Romans to the end of the Earth, it is so thorough that people consider "Aristotle and Pluto" to be "classical writers". Black people on the other hand are slow to consider men like "Imhotep" the great Vizier, architect (The Great Pyramid at Giza), philosopher, scientist to be a "classical" figure even though he accomplished more than Aristotle and Pluto (both of them were just theorists, they never actually did anything with their theories. Imhotep accomplished more in one lifetime than most people today with all of our so-called modern technology).

History is an in depth subject and it is hard to go too in depth on a blog site about Hip Hop since there is even a disconnect with Black people about Hip Hop history, how in the hell do they expect to grasp the history of the oldest people to ever walk the planet earth, people probably won't read it all. :-)

we need to stop it. who cares why it was there? trying to explain it only keeps it alive. we all know it happened and the reason is not as impportant as the prevention of it. Racism is something that is learned.

It's cool that we have history lessons, but all this is doing is re-opening the wound and pouring salt, dirt and anyother type of incectuous material in it.

I know people will argue with me on this, but come on. do we all need to remember that our people we beaten and killed. in my opinion some things are better left in the past. if we can Stop the spread of hared and racism, then we can prevent it from coming back. But most articles and history lessons of heinous deed are a recipe for continued struggle. unless it's short and straight to the point like; slavery is wrong... unless it's a 9 o 5! sure there are some differences, but generally the foundation is the same.

we have the honor of saying that we laid the foundation of the greatest nation on earth, when we need to do with that honor is realize that if we could do that- then we have the power, knowledge, ability, and strength to fix the increasingly sick nation.

This was an informative and good read.

In order for there to be change, as Bush has showed us, some heads are going to have to be busted.

The kids from the Jena 6 are true heros because they were faced by the demon of racism and they put a fist in it. I also congratulate the brothers that have stood up and put their lives on the line in every riot that has happened in any major city in America.

I do not mean to be disrespectful, but there are a lot of so called black leaders that have sold us bullshit over the course of history. "Turn the other cheek. Don't meet violence with violence" One of the first thing I was taught as a child is that if someone hits you then you hit they ass back. Anything else is bullshit.

Nothing is ever going to change for blacks in America until they are willing to die for that change. Until they are willing to beat the fuck out of these racist bastard and kill them they will constantly have a foot on the back of their necks. I am sure after enough people die for their beliefs the racist will start thinking differently.

I watched a very interesting show on BET about this drug dealer Frank Lucas. He is the subject of the new movie American Gangster. I am not into the gangster shit, however, what struck me was when he described a incident that happened to him when he was 6 years old and how it influenced the remainder of his life.

At 6 years old the KKK came to his house and killed his cousin for looking at a white woman. He was killed for reckless eyeballing, if I can use the term that Frank used. Frank said, "After they killed his cousin the gloves came off. Anything was fair game."

I am just using this as an example because it shows that racist have blatant disregard for you and will destroy you with the utmost violence that they can muster. They are at war.

What war has been won by talking? What war has been won by marching?

I participated in Riots in Virginia Beach and Los Angeles. I have also been involved in Riots in other American cities. One common thing was, when the brothers took to the street the man either came out with his big guns or he ran for the hills.

Stop looking up to the false leaders who are selling bullshit. The only thing that turning the other cheek got Martin Luther King, Jr. was a bullet to the side of the head and his brains blown out. The riots following King's murder are the events that made the changes happen during the civil rights struggle. However, once the man saw that the blacks had calmed down racism was on and poppin once again.

Nat Turner was a much better black hero, in my mind. He took up arms and freeing slaves until he betrayed. The powers to be had to muster their army to stop Nat because Nat's aim was to rid the world of all of the racist white Americans. Be it man, woman or child. Fuck um! They had to go!

If you want to see an example of how changes can be made, look at the early history of Haiti. The French ruled Haiti and the black slaves decided they had enough of that shit. They fought and killed the French so fiercely that they shook the stop and never returned. They thought about it then they reconsidered. The Spanish came in and thought they could beat the Haitians, however, they got to a point and then they could not go any further. That is the reason that the America of today has so much disdain for Haiti and the Haitian people.

Another prime example is Cuba. Castro and his boys snuck back into Cuba and they took Cuba by force. They ran the puppet Pro-American government, and the Mob, right up out the spot. They also ran out the racist capitalist the were stealing all of their resources and socialized the economy. After that the US instituted their embargo and has been holding Cuba hostage every since.

Now those were revolutions!

Now, I know some of you will view my comments as racist or ignorant. I do not mind. I am entitled to think what I want.

Peace and love goes out to my True Revolutionaries, Nat Turner, the Brothers of the Original Black Panther Party, Malcom X, Che, Fidel and everyone who has fought, rioted or taken up arms against Racism and classism.

Props to Immortal Technique for this column. It provides a welcome break from the gossip rags (no disrespect to Illseed; the Rumors column is one of my daily guilty pleasures).

As a Black man, I understand the desire to not deal with the messed up aspects of our past, but just as your professional athlete needs to watch hours and hours of videotape to help learn how to handle that play, or some rappers stay in the lab, listening to old soul and funk records before putting pen to pad, we have to be able to soak in the lessons learned from our experiences, or else we will end up going through the same nonsense.

I'm glad I've got some new books to read.

The problem is that allhiphop.com and most of the artists it does stories on are all about capitalism
Notice how this article didn't stay up too long.
Not sayin that they're right or wrong, but it's funny how these young brothers come around and try to play catch up with the 60s, Che T-Shirt etc.
Come out all yellin and screamin.
The simple fact is is that Black people today are tryin to hustle the capitalist game and arn't interested in a revolutionary attempt being 12% of the population to try to take over this country.
I'm not sayin this materialist mentality is where I'm at but it's where the hood's at and despite messed up conditions a lot of people are content with trying to get rich for themselves even if some die tryin.
Personally at this point in time I think the best thing for us is to have more Black owned businesses rather than to do things like the Palestinians.
Talk is cheap anyway.

i see comments on hear with people saying looking back on racism like this creates more tension, coz it pisses people off in a sense true, but they are 'usally' people who dont know the true basis ov slavery or refuse to, and dont wont to change things, or wont change things, we do need to build a new. dont getme wrong, i feel angry bout the past, but u need to do sum1 about it, and except it happend, and try chane things. blacks, whites and browns, need to come together in order for there to be a diffrence.

you have to look back, see wot really went down, like wot tech says in this article, and then people need to change, and carry on. build new ground.
