I agree with you 100%. He basically did what everybody else thought Barrack would do and that is to pick a female running mate. Since Barrack didn't go that way McCain figured that by selecting a female he can get the potential Hillary votes.

Palin does not appear pregnant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months.

1) THis makes me like McCain even less. But you must admit on his part its brilliant. He practically took all media coverage off of Obamas speech the night before.

2) While this is a shot for Hillary Clinton voters, there are soooo many more reasons why he picked her. HE DOES NOT HAVE THE COMPLETE conservative package. She does, and that makes it a conservative ticket for potential voters who like that.

1. I agree 100% with Illseed. Everything he said was synonomous with what i thought when i heard about Palin.

2. Creationism should NOT be taught in the schools. You have to take in consideration that not all students are Christian. You have muslims, hindus, athiests, jewish etc etc etc etc. Everyone has a right to choose their religion, and forcing a religion and its beliefs on someone else is not the way to do it.

To teach students THE TRUTH, a teacher's lesson plan shouldnt be,"God said it and it happened." There's alot of complex theories and hypothesis in science that has no room for "Bible Study time". I dunno if you get the term creationism. School is a place for school, Bible Meditation and Study should be done at your own time. There are christian colleges that don't and wouldn't teach creationism in a high level science class. There's just a time and place for everything and school is NOT the place.

There's nothing that will stop the sins of the world, because this is not a perfect world. You just have to live YOUR life that is right in His eyes.

as far as voting... I'm voting for a Republican because of where I stand on the issues obviously. I like Obama as a person... The democratic ticket is very appealing however.

Obama said about a year or two ago that he wants to talk about the issues not attack his opponents, and that he's not a politician because he doesnt like attacking people and dragging their name through the dirt. NOW WHAT?? all of a sudden his ACCEPTANCE SPEECH was a total verbal bashing. Look at the media coverages from the past week. McCain was interviewed saying nothing but good things and praises for hillary and biden, saying they're good friends and have been good friends for a long time. and in return what does he get? some twin cities remark about mccain and bush and all this shit talking. props to McCain for being a modest dude and showing respect to people and never saying bad shit about them even though a few hours later they go on tv and talk mad shit about you.

Obama was using the "change" platform throughout his whole campaign. He suggested we get away from the same old Washington politics. Instead, he picks Senator Biden, who has been in Washington for 35 years!!! McCain took Obama up on his call for change and picks a 2 year governor, which has more experience than Obama. Obama has been running for president for most of his term leaving him with less than one year of experience as a U.S. senator. He, or his supporters, have no room to criticize her on inexperience. As a governor, Palin has the executive experience needed to be a VP, and President if anything were to happen to McCain. She may not have much, but she has some. That is more than can be said for Obama. It seems the only party that actually came through on it's promise for change was the Republicans.

If Obama loses, race will be the main reason. All generic polls show that a democrat is favored to win thise election by 12 points, but Obama has still been struggling in polls the past couple of weeks. He is up by 8 now, but I wonder how long that will last.

I truly fear a John Mccain/Sarah Palin ticket will be even more extreme than Bush and Cheney. Palin is against abortion even in cases of rape and the mother's health being in danger.

Vote Obama/Biden if you truly want a change, not four more years of war mongering and dishonest politics.

McCain is not smart, but he is not an idiot. The leverage play that we see is indicative of politics. So, i'm not angry at the attempt.

This race was Obama's to lose from the beginning. I already had in mind I was gonna vote for him. Not cause he's black. I just couldn't see myself voting for someone who says he wants an unjust war to go on for 50 years. Longer than he actually has left to live.

But as much as I want Obama to win & McCain to lose, McCain's pick turned the tides and stole the momentum. Even after Obama's speech. For anyone who thinks McCain's V.P. pick made no sense, I agree, as far as policies go. But it makes every bit of sense in this race. This race more than any other Presidential race in history will be won on favortism and popularity. All policies aside, The Democratic race came down to a Black Man vs. a White Woman. It's probably safe to say that for half the country that's what it was about. Even if it only played out that way in the back of there minds.

Now in the Presidential race everyone is saying McCain is too old, he's washed up, the effects of his time at war are catching up to him. So what does Obama do? He goes and gets a V.P. running mate that's only 7 yrs. younger than McCain, been in politics for 35 yrs. and served as many years in the service. And what does McCain do? He goes and gets what everybody wanted Obama to get. A young, energetic woman. McCain gets the opposite of everything all of his critics say he is.

The average voter doesn't dig deep into policies, and political stances. They go with the popular vote. I've heard more times this election year that White women wouldn't vote for Obama or black people wouldn't vote for H. Clinton during the Dem. Primary, or blacks only want Obama cause he's black, than the political stances of anyone involved.

The other day I was school shopping, and I got to the book-bag section. Every book bag I looked at had a cell-phone case on the shoulder straps. A couple of them on the inside had a pouch to hold your i-pod. I'm not talkin about no Jansport that you would get to attend Community College. I'm talkin about book-bags that were designed for Elementary students. Jr. High at the oldest. I send my kids to school for an education. My 10 yr. old doesn't even have a cell phone or an i-pod. But if he did, for what purpose would he need it in school?

Word is coming from MTO readers in Alaska (yeah, we got readers in Alaska) and from a bunch of left-wing bloggers that McCain’s VP may have hid her daughter’s pregnancy. And that the child which she claims is hers, might actually be her daughter’s.

[Governor Palin’s] oldest girl is rumored to have actually been the one who had the last baby, the one with Down’s Syndrome. She was taken out of school the last 4 or 5 months of her mother’s pregnancy.

On March 5th, 2008 Alaska’s Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44.

Palin’s daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.

Palin does not appear pregnant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months.

And there’s more – check out the photo above taken with Palin’s daughter having a bulge in her stomach. And the below pic shows the governor when she was supposedly 6 months pregnant.

And even more. Since these rumors have begun circulating, the Alaska Department of State has taken down ALL PHOTOS of the governor and her family from the state’s website.

as for not having any other option, i believe we do. the alternative is for the entire population of the world unites, and i don't mean under one government or anything, but forget about it all. imagine, if we called a strike and everyone refuses to go to work until we redistribute the wealth of the world...

I've been thinking about what you said. I can see that Palin may have been a good choice (unless the above Alaska scandal develops) and I think illseed didn't recognize that because he was too mad that the choice took a little bit of the spotlight off the Obama acceptance speech.

However
they say historically the choice of VP has little impact. It does seem more important in this election so maybe it's a 5% difference instead of 1% . But even though there might be some VP debates the real focus later on is going to be on the McCain/Obama debates and this VP stuff is going to begin to fade.

Isn't it cynical to get mad at Obama for not picking a woman he personally doesn't like as VP just because it may have been a strong purely political getting vote strategy?

Is he so dependant on a VP? Why should he be?

Obama is just a Senator, he has been doing it for what, three years? And out of the three years, half that time he has been campaigning for president. That is an experience total of 1.5 years.
