I signed up just to give my 2 cents on those hip hop comments.
Anybody that actually was around during that time and was more than average on the dancefloor went in on hiphouse..Most of the dances from that era could be linked back to the clubscene wich was way more diverse than you see nowadays.Artists took more risks musically and altough it was hit and miss,at least people tried to push the artform forward.We seem to forget that housemusic and hiphop are closely related,the same origin,the same circumstances.House is HUGE in Europe and made a lot of white people very rich..in fact most europeans have no clue that house music is as black as it gets, but just as we're doing with hiphop right now.we're letting outside forces dictate what the music should sound like,how we portray ourself and most importantly what do we get out of it besides grown ass men acting like teenagers and some women acting accordingly. People like Louie Vega,Kenny Dope,Jazzy Jeff,Dj Spinna,Hollywood Impact(King Sun,Twin Hype,La Starr) did so much for hiphop but also put house on the map.Commercially hiphouse was a trainwreck,but as an artform in itself it deserves more respect...Shout out to Mantronix,Tony D,LA Kidd,Tone Love,Hollywood Impact,Bobcat,Mr Mixxx and all the other producers/DJ's that got lost in the footnotes of hiphop...Sin City Europe (Amsterdam)

JB's I'll House You was the shit so was Stomp. But in the 80's we was rocking Straight legged jeans not Skinny jeans. Now while they make look similar but they weren't. I know many of y'all are not old enough to remember the 80's Heavy Metal fashion(spiked belts and bracelets, tight leather, etc.), but the toughest of the tough guys(white) were wearing this look, started by Metal god Rob Halford, lead singer of Judas Priest, and closet homosexual. He got the biggest kick out of seeing all these straight guys dressing like "faries"... Now that episode of "The Boondocks" where Riley was looking mad suspect doesn't seem so outlandish when you think about it...
