Many allegations and theories have been posed since Jam Master Jay's death. Who murdered him. Why? What was the motive?

Allen may hold the key to some of those unanswered questions.

Shortly after Jay's death, Allen emerged as a central figure in the murder case. Not because of his possible involvement, but because of his alleged lack there of.

In this exclusive interview, Allen breaks a four year silence and reveals brand new insight into the murder of Jam Master Jay, and who may have perpetrated one of the most infamous murders in the history of the music business.

AllHipHop.com: How did you know Jam Master Jay?

Randy Allen: I met Jay in junior high school.

AllHipHop.com: Were you involved with him and Run-DMC and all that stuff?

Randy Allen: Run-DMC and Jay was one thing, me and Jay was a whole other thing. We had the studio and the production company but before we had that, me and Jay used to do music together, you know, DJ.

AllHipHop.com: Walk me through the day he was killed...

Randy Allen: The day Jay got murdered, we were preparing to go out and work this group Rusty Waters, so it was a day of going out to the store and getting a hair cut, you know doing the necessary things that you do before you go out to do what you do. As far as Jay was concerned, he was cool, everything was normal, nothing funny about him, nothing different about him, you know what I mean. We shopped together for a few minutes, and then Jay went and did his thing and then we went off to go and do our thing. Everything was normal that day with Jay; it was a beautiful morning.

AllHipHop.com: Around what time did you and the other people that were in the studio get in and start recording? Walk me through the layout of the studio…

Randy Allen: We wasn't recording that day, we were more or less preparing to go out. Jay and [Randy's sister] Lydia [High] had to take care of the administrative papers of what had to be taken care of that day. They were doing it together in the studio while Jay played a game.

    AllHipHop.com: What were you doing?

Randy Allen: The day started with us out shopping, running into Jay on Jamaica Avenue, saying what's up, what's up. We talk in the store for a few minutes, everything was cool, then Jay said he had to kick something to me real quick, and he said he would see me upstairs after I got a haircut, then we split from there. Jay goes upstairs. Me and Boe go into the barber shop. Boe gets his hair cut, the barber told me he had one more person and would take care of me after that, so I go upstairs to see what Jay wants to talk about. I get upstairs in the studio and Jay is sitting there playing a game, you know when you play those games it's like, "Hold on a second dog, let me just figure this out real quick." In the midst of saying hold on one second, I slide off into the room to listen to some CDs, some demo stuff that my man Mike B had. I get into the room listening to the demos and all hell breaks loose. Ten minutes later, everything just gets crazy.

AllHipHop.com: So now coming to that point, could you see out of the booth, the area where Jay was gaming?

Randy Allen: Nah, when you first come up a long narrow staircase, you<

get to the top of the steps, the bathroom is in front of you and to the right is a long hallway. In this hallway, there is an office to the right, a big office space to the right, and then all the way down to the left is our door. You come in our door, it is a big open space, there is a couch there, the TV, whatever, and then you walk in and to the right of the door, there is a vocal booth and then a little further past the vocal room door is the control room door, which is next to the couch and the control room door is a glass door with a curtain on it.

AllHipHop.com: Now, who else was in the studio at this point and when did they start coming in or were they already there?

Randy Allen: When I got there, Jay and them was playing the game already, him and Tony was already playing the game. Mike B was there, he came in before me, and he was there with this girl and she had some s**t she wanted us to hear. So we took it in the control room to listen to< the music and that was when s**t got crazy.
AllHipHop.com: The studio is equipped with surveillance cameras? Randy Allen: Yeah, always.

AllHipHop.com: So what happened to the tape?

Randy Allen: The [incident] should have [been] taped, it should have taped, but you know, the week that we were away, Jay's cousin [and] people from the hood were in and out of the studio while we were away. There was all kind of motherf**king people in and out of the studio while we were away in Puerto Rico, so when we got back, we were getting back into the feel of the studio as they had changed the furniture around, it was a little different. Someone went in there and cleaned it up and vacuumed the carpets, fixed the couches a little different. Whoever had been in the studio and done all that, would definitely have the access to f**k with the cameras while we were away and me. Every time I used to go into the studio, I would check the cameras every month, you know to check the machine to make sure it hadn't zeroed out because if it had zeroed out, you just press the rewind button and it will go all the way back and start from scratch again for whatever month. I am hearing from the cops that took the tape, they are saying that the tape is cut. I am like, “If that tape is cut, why can't we tape that s**t back together?” So I am being told the tape is no good, me I know the tape was working when I zeroed it out, you rewind it and it starts working again and I have been rewinding that tape for years.

AllHipHop.com: There have been numerous reports that Lydia hugged this person or there was two of them, or there was one of them, they had a mask on. What, immediately following the shooting, did you come out and see?

Randy Allen: Right after the shooting, I came out the room after hearing the shooting. AllHipHop.com: So you actually heard some sort of commotion out there?

Randy Allen: I heard a sound, didn't really strike me as a gun shot, it was just a sound. There was a lot of people in that hallway but the second time I heard it, I knew what it was, jumped up out the room and went to the door and saw Lydia's on the floor, Tony sitting next to Jay, Jay is laying on the floor, and Tony is sitting right next to him, holding his leg as he was shot in the leg.

AllHipHop.com: I heard that there was a seminar or something going on in the building?

Randy Allen: Yeah, across the hall from the studio, every so often they would have this big, big meeting with all these people in there; I don't know what it was, some type of insurance agency or something like that. So when I jumped up and ran out, there were people in the hallway and I had to run through the people, so I am looking and running, looking and running and I run outside and it's like which f**king way do you run; so I ran around the block looking for anyone looking suspicious.

AllHipHop.com: At what point did anyone call the police or an ambulance?

Randy Allen: Right across the street from the studio is the precinct. I am going to keep it real, when I came out the studio I was ready for whoever the f**k was around. Whoever had been the f**k around would have got touched if I had seen them. I wasn't running outside to kill motherf**kers; I was running outside to end whoever had come out of the studio. Any n***a who had been seen who looked suspicious would have been f**king touched, as far as I am concerned. I run into the precinct like, "Yo my boy just got shot, motherf**kers is running around, we don't know what's going on, but we need an ambulance right now at the studio over there." They all knew where the studio was at.

AllHipHop.com: One of the first people we interviewed surrounding all of this was Eric "Shake" James. What was your relationship, or what is your relationship with Shake?

Randy Allen: It's motherf**kers like Shake that got my boy shot, fake ass want to play the Sony Playstation and send him new s**t every time it come out to win his friendship. Like I said, I seen everybody come and go, I seen the stunners come around, I seen the ones who want your help to sell drugs, I seen all those fake ass motherf**kers come around, and Shake was one of the main ones. He's one of the dudes that's a shifty ass motherf**ker for bringing that s**t to our circle, for bringing that bulls**t in our environment.

AllHipHop.com: Going forward, Shake said you had a conversation with him, you looked him in the eye and that that the person who did it was Curtis Scoon. Did that conversation between you and Shake take place?
Randy Allen: Nah, not to that degree, not to that level. First of all, when Jay got shot, it's a case man. I'm not going to get on HOT 97 and implicate nobody. I'm a street n***a, and as far as I am concerned, I don't give a f**k about the police. The reason why I went to the extent of allowing people to say funny s**t about me without going to get their punk asses [beat] is because I got love for Jay's mother; she's been like a mother to me all my life. She needs closure.

AllHipHop.com: Speaking of Jay's Mom, when was the last time you spoke to her? Because the last time we spoke to her, she said she hadn't seen you since the wake.

Randy Allen: I haven't seen Jay's Mom since the wake because that was something Jay's mom decided that she wanted to do.

AllHipHop.com: Moving forward to that night after Jay was shot, Jay's mom said that you came and you grabbed Boe and you had to go and finish the Rusty Waters album. Did that happen?

Randy Allen: Nah, what happened was this: Before Jay had got shot, we would talk about a lot of different things and Jay's whole thing was the Rusty Waters thing was so that we could get Boe off the streets. He was out there, he getting rusty, getting locked up, so I decided that when Jay was out of town, I would go and snatch Boe up and I'm going to help him get his life together the way I know how. So I snatched up Boe, started doing things with Boe, had Boe do all the kinds of things I know how to help him get into this game. Jay comes back to New York, "Yo Rod, that's what I am talking about, let's do this for Boe, let's just make sure Boe is straight." So after Jay got shot, I am dealing with the police and the situation because my homie just got shot, his mom needs to know what's up, I need to know what's up, we all need to know what's up; but if I stay in new York with Boe, he's going to either get shot or

go to jail; I'm going to get shot or I'm going to kill someone.

AllHipHop.com: So where did y'all go?

Randy Allen: We just went to the south, we went down south and we stayed down south for like 20 days. [I] kept Boe out of trouble, kept him level. He still came back to New York and got shot any f**king way. The s**t I tried to avoid still happened anyway. So that's what that whole thing was, it was me making a decision to save Boe's life or maybe my life.
