I love "Stand To The Side" from Talib Kweli's "Quality" album. Dilla produced it, and he made magic on the instrumentals. He really was amazing.

R.I.P James Yancey, one of the best if not the best to do it. One of my faves is "So Hardcore" off of Busta's When Disaster Strikes album, any track of SV's fantastic album's, Steve Spacek's "Dollar", Badu's Mama's Gun album, the Welcome to Detroit almbum, man there is just WAY TOO MUCH to mention

I was never familiar with J dilla but really I was in way because after listenin' to these tracks I didn't even know that was him that produced them..I knew he was heavy in the game but I guess I found out a lil too late..much respect for Dilla..

Dilla is one of my favorite producers bar none. the material he produced before and after he joined stones throw are like day and night but still are equally impressive. they just cater to different crowds. its such a tragedy that a person with that much talent can only gain recognition after they're deceased. r.i.p.

No question, these handful of beats or any ammount of beats that are played to represent dilla's body of work almost never do him justice...theres just waaaay too much shit to pick from!!
Dilla's ENTIRE body of work breaks down into eras and volumes...alot of niggas cant really say that shit.....
The joint that got me on Dilla was 'players' back in 98-99 or some shit when it 1st dropped...my fuckin goodness, those drums....I tell you what, I wouldnt be surprised if Dilla's shit is responsble or influental on all these library handclaps and drums floating niggas use nowadays...niggas who REALLY know dilla know what I mean, he invented the whole neo soul sound along with the roots and shit...
When I figured out who dilla was and figured out he was the ummah and was down with tribe and I had basically came up on him already and had no fuckin idea it was like say word!!!
Theres no real words to describe this nigga, his throwaway tracks are even crazy...some too crazy, but vivid and detailed and you GOTTA respect that as a producer myself...
Anytime I see a dill tribute I just fell the need, dont mind my rambling...RIP kid...

agrees with Iron Horse, Dilla's catalogue is really extensive and no matter what tracks and what grouping they get, unless you include his discography, your kinda cheating his range of diversity.............

Do I really gotta list em? Like everyone else said, he was so diverse you could pretty much put him in any genre and he'll make it big. He was doin shit with Tribe/De La, but also had the skill to make pop shit for N Sync.

Dilla is a Hip Hop god... what he did with transforming a drum machine into a full industry instrument that was adaptable only to the extent of the producers imagination, will transform rap music even more so than (GASP) Dr. Dre. Yeah, Dre brought the funk to rap, but Dilla pretty much said, "Fuck being polished, and make your music from your soul".

What I miss most about Dilla is his committment to HIP HOP (not rap). Very few of his tracks were bling-bling, make it rain, choke yo girl cuts. Rap makes me question Black History Month all together...

it was after dilla died that i found out he produced alot of the joint that he produced. the first album that he did that really caught my eye was that second pharcyde album. that shit was crazy to me. some of my favorite joints by dilla was, "players"(i could listen to that song all day) "climax"(the beat and the hook are perfect) and "won't do" (that beat is so smooth). what i will say to anybody that doesn't know what dilla went through the last three years of his life should really google his name and read his story. it will make you appreciate his music alot more knowing that he was suffering tremendous pain, knew he was going to die, and still made classic music. most of which he made from a hospital bed. how many of these corny dudes out now are really that dedicated?

to be honest i dont know that much about dilla, but donuts is probably one of my favorite records, and he passed away four days before my dad so for me that kind of makes his already personal music even more so to me anyways. i always loved how "love is" off commons Be stood out so much from the rest of the tracks, it had so much soul...go figure.

And, oh yea, I MISS YOU DILLA!!! Shit, I ain't fraid to say it. Got joints of his in the changer, as I type. Damn, the good die young, don't they? Dilla was on some other shit, at times, and that's what made him good at his craft. Wasn't afraid to do all types of sounds. Fantastic Vol. 2 is THE classic of all. At first, I was mad he left Slum Village but I learned that it was a good thing cuz he got to spread his dopeness to others more freely as well as put together so much illmaticness for his own albums.
Eh, at least we still got SWIZZ BEATS!!!! *lord help us all*
