Hip Hop needs this.
__________________________________________________

First, Homie Understand that I just want people to know that there isin't just a few Christian Rappers... I chose LeCrae because his music is simply better that 2five... I used to be frustrated when I was growing up because people wanted me to listen to Christian rap.. I wanted to as well but all the MC's were wack.... Lecrae has a flow that is unmatched in the Gospel Rap game.. So here's my question to you.. I'm going to introduce you to Hip Hop and you've never listened to it before.. Do I bring you a Jay-Z CD or Vanilla Ice??? And I'm not saying 2five is the worst but Lacrae is easier to listen to.. His flow is on point.. I get bored if you have a week flow.. That's just how it is. I don't care what you're rapping about..

You know just as well as i do that in Rap it's about your delivery.. That's the difference between the best and the worst.. You can say great things but if you can't make them sound good then no one is going to listen...So keep it real...

Now Back to Lacrae I shouted him.. Also because many people don't know about him.. he is a truly Spirit filled Christian and God has blessed him with the gifts to be able to give us a message through his music..

if you don't like my post then don't read it...

And to call someone a stan... hahaaha... Do you know what a Stan is??? You seem to be an IllSeed stan...

I'm gonna pray for you...
re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

JJGREENIS, come on champ, Christ is bigger than that cuzzo.

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

Leave the bickering to Lebron and Deshawn.lol

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

jjgreenis

So u couldn't make the other artist known without competition?
You know well those Christian brothers aren't about that, yet you create an unwarranted perspective of what their music isn't about. Always have, to me, Hip Hop is Hip Hop. Whether west coast, east coast, midwest, no matter the preference Hip Hop is what it is. I feel like classifying someone as a 'Gospel Rap Artist' is really placing a limit on the creativity as to say, 'this is all I'm about.' And in reality, that's why the market (Gospel Rap) has yet to truly flourish. I've SOME artist shatter that mold and come with concepts that were just phenomenal, with ill lyrical and great conceptual. (no pun intented) For those who still feel like talking about religion is corny, they'll never give it a chance. Most people, black, white, purple, or blue, don't won't give a 'Gospel Rapper' half a chance. Because it's like it's just limiting, and you already know everything that they're going to say. Everyone is different, and has their own ideals and beliefs. Whether talking about God, or Jesus, Allah, or even Buddah for that matter, doesn't matter to me. As long as you're real, and express who YOU are and are actually TALENTED, with lyrics, concepts, substance, production quality, and originality with what it is that you do, you, to me, are a rapper. I have a friend, he's a DEVOUT follower of the Christian faith. He has GREAT lyrical talent, but when I first ran into him, he was a bit lost as far as the music went. All he did was preach, but, the thing was, he wasn't really talking about LIFE. Life has so many different elements, the good and the bad, that are left untapped, and he made a concious effort to explore the mind of not only Christians, but ALL people who go through a struggle, or, are doing well for themselves, to better be able to spread HIS message so they could understand where he's coming from. To me, I think that is the most important and difficult thing to be able to do in Hip Hop. Make GREAT music that anyone, and everyone can relate to, because it's as I said, everyone is different. We all go through something at some point in our lives. I just feel like Hip Hop is supposed to be about life. So it should be related as such with no limitations. That's just my opinion on it.

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

ReppnKing said:
jjgreenis

So u couldn't make the other artist known without competition?
You know well those Christian brothers aren't about that, yet you create an unwarranted perspective of what their music isn't about. BACK IN THE DAY GOSPEL CENTERED RAPPERS WERE WACK AS HELL, I WENT TO A HHH CONCERT A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND ALL THEM GUYS WAS RAW DEAL, I HAVE YET TO HEAR A MAINSTREAM RAPPER AS DOPE AND TRUTHFUL AS THEM SINCE. BOTTOM LINE IS THE MESSAGE BUT ITS ALSO THE TALENT EVEN IN TRADITIONAL GOSPEL YOU DONT HEAR SONGS FROM PEOPLE WHO CANT SING. BUT RAP HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABUSED BY THOSE WHO FELT ANYBODY COULD DO IT, THE OLD SCHOOL HOLY HIPHOPPERS WERE PROBABLY GOSPEL WANNABES WHO COULDNT BUST A NOTE.

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

Okay Illseed, first off I gotta' say forgive me cause I had no clue that you listened to "gosple" rap. I had you stereo typed. I use to do "gospel" rap but now I just rap because to be truthful with you the streets are turned off by the "sound" of "gospel" rap cause they're trapped in puttin' up a front for others in their circle. I'm just an emcee that reports what I see through the eyes of God and His principles.

What a lot of people who front like I don't listen to secular rap don't know nothin' about these artists: LMNO, The Percussionist, The Healing Fruit, Lupe Fiasco [Godly values], and many others who are behind "enemy" lines. Shout out to Joshua & Kelab!!!

Dang I have so much to say about this over-due editorial I'mma' put a vlog up on youtube.com/nuncio78 in about 2 days. poor or rich! good times or bad times, when it comes to god we (especially us TRUE Christians, who don't use
Christianity for promotional gain) gotta realize we are dealing with a higher being, we should be going to him (GOD) out of
love and respect in all humbleness, not when you wanna push ulterior motives and show how much skill you got and how well
you can rap and only when you wanna vent about shit that pisses you off, Christianity is not a rap/hiphop thing, it's not a hiphop verses traditional/original Christianity thing, GOD Speaks to people of all cultures to bring one Holy "whole" Message, it 's
the gospel truth according to GOD not the gospel truth according to what Hiphop and the Hiphop community and man dictates, God doesn't give a certain set of standards for one cultue/one set of people and gives a certain set of different standards for another!, GOD is GOD he doesn't have a split "personality" and he does not change, he was here way before hiphop/music was, what ever he says or does stands/reigns supreme so it's really not about music or further more entertainment or cultural differences/preferences, in fact if it was up to him "right now" this second this very day there would be none of these "hindering divisive differences" among our societies and communities, Christianity is not about what you and only you wish and want to happen, you gotta look out for your fellow man sometimes you know, this shit is deep, if you're a true Christian at some point in your life you're gonna have to make sacrifices, organize yourself and get shit correct!,despite what people may say or think!, you're going to have to make sacrifices and sow those seeds and lay that foundation, and push the petty shit aside and lead by example, Christianity is not a fucking popularity contest, anyway let me stop now......

lol before I get too in-depth and in tune with wisdom and fuck up the whole page with long azz insightful paragraphs, giving
motherfuckers brain tumors.

um respect to the Christian rappers and that whole holy hiphop movement, the more heads/minds we Christians put together the more we can get done/achieve, respect to Christians as a whole and non righteous/religious people and allhiphop
http://www.myspace.com/acevmaxxvninja

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

2Five is nice!!! Gotta big up 2Five for taking the words right out my mouth.. Also, on the honest tip, I still wanted to have fun w/ the music, and let my music grow w/ my personal growth, rather than being limited to only talkn about Jesus. I also wanted to grab the attention of the mainstream (the same mainstream that influenced me) and then drop gems on them, about life, as well as Jesus. So it didn't make sense for me not to reach out to the audience and platform I grew up on, and Christian Rap seemed to be in it's own world. This is real peculiar that I been askn God lately to lead me in the direction He wants me to walk w/ this gift He gave me, then my Comcast got upgraded today, and I was watchn some of the music videos/ rappers on the Word Channel, trying to picture me being a "Gospel Rapper". I just sat down 2 hours ago 2 write a rhyme bout God and settled on the concept and the beat to write to before I went to bed & I go on AHH real quick b4 I lay it down and find this?? Hmm... Lord, u tryna tell me smthn? Anyway, u'll see what I mean bout my rhymes, check out the video of me and my girl Shady Jones spittn our rhymes about God on my myspace, as well as my song Let It Go, the whole 3rd verse is a letter to God. And much love to Pac for that song "Who Do You Believe In" because, on everything I love, that's the song I was listening to on a plane on repeat the 1st time God chose to speak to me and let me know He was real. Can't forget Scarface's "Heaven" and Yukmouth's verse on his song "Smile". (Bay Areaaaaa!!) Ya'll go check out that video of me and my girl spittn on my page. Then it came to a point where I really couldnt listen to all the secular hip hop anymore they blaspheme God on almost every cd and we're commanded to love God above everything else !! You wouldnt just stand there and let someone disrespect your mama all up in your face you'd be offened !! HOW MUCH MORE SHOULD IT OFFEND YOU WHEN THEY ARE DISRESPECTING GOD ! God is tired of the mixing Y'ALL! HE says in REVELATION that because you are neither hot or cold HE is gonna spew you from HIS mouth ! Meaning you mix your worldlyness and His holyness and it makes Him so sick that HE wants to throw up !! After playin ball you dont wanna drink warm water you drink cold water ! You dont want warm soup you want it hot thats when it taste better !!!! ;-)

Mathew 7:21 one of the most scariest verses in the whole bible !! All these secular artist dont have a clue !! And most people think its koo to support them but read Romans 1:32 it says if YOU even approve of other peoples sin your just as guilty as them and worthy of death !! Jesus died for our sins so how can we the church approve of them glorifying SIN !! You wouldnt go to a church if YOU KNEW the pastor was all up in the club and drinking and smoking so why wouldnt you hold yourself to the same standard I mean you are the church !!! Anyhow check out the myspace I have alot of christian artist on there read the blogs too !! myspace.com/CHRiSTN8iON PEACE and GOD BLESS !!!

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

K-Nine is the man, but I have a couple things that concern me about the holy hip hop culture. I dont see anything wrong with being competitive being hip hop is a competitive music genre it came up off everyone trying to be the best at what they do. People arguing in school, barbershops etc. on whose the hottest cat out. So why get mad because one man says he thinks so and so is better than jon doe? Thats jus his opinion, and hes jus biggin up his fav artist. As long as they all reppin christ thats all that matters, but I would never down an artist basically calling them wack when they are repping the king. Jus 2 rep jesus and stand up for him would make me respect any of em. I like what I hear from 2 five I think he's hot and got some quality in his material. I can admit like one cat said back in the day the christian rap had Low quality but its stepped way up in 2008! But I have been to alot of holy hip hop shows and watched the artist tear down the others and I dont get it. I would hate 2 watch the holy culture fall off becuz of Vanity!

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

This dude right here is the best rapper alive..period. And to come at him and attempt to call him a fraud and essentially dismiss him as a Christian brother is not your job, it is the job of our loving, merciful and patient Savior. Is it not ok to big them up and build some type of buzz for them or anticipation to hear what it is they have to say? "How shall the people hear without a preacher?"

This is the issue that I am combating and I believe we put ourselves in a box when we make a seperate title or category for what it is we do as ministers of the Gospel that just so happen to rap. Why it cant just be rap or hip-hop. You and I both know that 85% of the people that hear that you are a quote unquote Gospel Rapper/Holy Hip Hopper already shutting you down out tha gate before you even open up your mouth cuz of "the stigma". At that point you as an MC are un affective then cuz their respect, mind or heart hasnt been won.

That defeats the whole purpose of a hip-hop ministry as far as out reach is concerned. If the guy or gal of the Most High is official, then they dont have to wear naya title on they sleeve to represent the truth and to be catalysts to draw people to God through faith in Christ cuz you gonna know them by they fruit.

You also pointed out the issue of not naming any artist but you invite the people off of this site, onto another site to present to them????? artists????

Come on. Thats what the culture is searching for is the realness only found in Christ. If a dude is tight he tight and If he need more work he need to go back to the drawing board till he get it right! There are other elements that need to be taken into consideration to effectively translate/convey the Gospel if you using the medium of rap. If you dont want to accept that fact then thats cool but then you might as well hang ya mike up turn the music off and just pick up a Bible and str8 witness without the rap period.

Paul even gave the command follow me as I follow Christ. Please see my above comment regarding the differnt types/calls of rappers in ministry for more clarification. Due to the fact that this is an e-response, I just wanna let you know my tone is mild and i pray you accept my opinion in love kidd.....Oh yea..... holla at us...

DUBL PORTION new Release GODSPEED.....fIYA!!!!!!

www.dunamisrecords.net
(FREE MIXTAPES OVER 70 SONGS AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD!!!) over 200,000 copies sowed!!!!!!!!!! Glory to God!

www.myspace.com/dunamisrecords

GET RIGHT OR GET LEFT!

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

HIP HOP IS JUST TAKING THE GOSPEL TO WESTERN CIVILIZATIONS RARE FORM!! I ain't judgin' cause you already judged yourself when you put yourself out there like you did. I'm just makin' it plain what's on display. If it's not hypocricy then what is it lol? I mean seriously don't make it like it's coo' do mis represent usin' that we all sin trip. That's religious and played out. And heck yeah I do sin and I dare not say like the next man cause everyone isn't sinnin'. Believe there are "real" Christians out there. And I'm glad you responded the way you did so this type of craziness can be address. So thank you very much from the depths of my heart.

It's not about keepin' it real people but it's about keepin' it right. Cause evil is just as real as the good but evil can never be right. That goes for me too as being the first partaker in this blast! So don't think the Word doesn't come back to me 10 fold. I already know lol. So there isn't anything that anyone can say except for the prayers to go up. And stop all that religious excuse makin' for our short comings. KEEP IT RIGHT! The bible does not support our short comings but tells us to come out from those things. And trust me I'm not the one to judge others including myself but I come repeating what people fail to study and that's the Holy Bible. Read up. Ya' boy John the Baptist got offed because he so called "judged" and the rest of the disciple drank from that same cup cause the message cut to the heart of those who are guilty. And with that you will either defend yourself and reject the truth to feel comfortable in religion or you will accept the truth revealed and say "I repent [meaning turn away immediately] and thank you for helping me see more of myself to get out the way". And that goes for me too. I embrace being told cuase it's for my own good. Stop bein' so negative and look at the good that comes from bein' fronted on.

Cause when it's right it's right and sometimes the truth hurts lol.

Peace In [Confusion Out]
Nuncio

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

But :)... I can honestly say that "Holy Hip-Hop" and any other form of positive hip-hop [that supports God's principles and teachings] is great! It's better than all the other music that is out there. The problem is just that naturally we like to hear and deal wit' garbage. It's our nature. It's easy to be negative, not to think, destroy than create, make money off of foolishness so that's what we are fed through the media. It's sad and I pray that it will change but we already know that won't happen unless God REALLY shows up and make miracle happen. But I shy from that cause of II Timothy chapter 3. In a nutshell it just says things will get worse. Also read Pslams 52 [refers to a lot of rappers today].

Yeah, I use to hear people say they don't think the music is that great when it comes to positive rap but the truth is this... the instrumental part of the songs are no different from what's on the radio. I make beats for positive artist and I get positive from street dudes all the time like I'm the hotest they heard in a while. So what could it be? It's the lyrical content of the song that makes it unpopular. That's the truth. Positivity doesn't thrive as well in this world as negativity. From film to music it's all the same. What sells the most? Sexual immorality, abuse of drugs and violence.

Wow... I pause on that for a moment [Selah].

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

@Nuncio78...I ain't tryin' to continue to be in you and JJ's conversation but when you said:

"And heck yeah I do sin and I dare not say like the next man cause everyone isn't sinnin'".

and when u said:

"It's possible through Christ to be perfect if we strive to do it".

***Can u give me scriptures that verify this?

Meaning ur assertion that "not everyone is sinning" and also that "it's possible to be perfect through Christ".

Are u talking while we're here on earth or when we get to heaven? I ain't swearing for none of these rappers, I don't do that shit no more dude i'm smarter than that now that ain't for me, i'm not like some of you people alright?, not once in my previous comments did you see me make any reference to any specific rapper(s), what the fuck are you doin?, don't mix me up in your fuckery son, maybe if you where somebody I knew off the internet and instead I knew you personally on the real shit would've probably been different but i don't know you so get real, c'mon man and lastly nobody can wake you up to acknowledge god but yourself people believe what they wanna believe and acknowledge what they want to acknowledge, I never said anything before regarding that, so you are still way off it just has nothing to do with any of the views I made clear before, it's one thing to pick up a mic an rap! - rap! - rap! - rap! - rap! and make shit sound all music and then it's another thing to act!, act!, act!, act!, act! ultimately those guys who claim to be Christians are all gonna be judged like us who don't gospel rap but are still Christians, rappers or not they like us are all gonna be judged according to their actions and affection, love etc they show towards god, anyway if you have a problem with what I said I don't care son i'm not responsible for your emotions so don't bring it to me man, and who the hell was going crazy on anybody? i'm not stupid sure i'm crazy but I wasn't going crazy on anybody so get that out of your "head" and open your eyes!, you didn't see me with that.

LOL shit is funny whenever you try to kick knowledge there's always some motherfucker trying to stir up shit petty shit

re: Holy Hip-Hop: Hostile Gospel

Cant wait to hear some of rockwilders new christian production is one of the best! At least mention Cross Movement though. No probs as I see the forum stepping up. So I'll drop my 2pence worth.

Had the pleasure of hosting both Da T.R.U.T.H. and Lecrae in the UK. Both skilled rappers and powerful ministers.
