Budden is a newer (lesser career though) Ice-T now.

Ice broke ground, did rap, did rock, does acting and did real shit that he rapped about, but now is known as either that dude on 'Law and Order' or that old pimp dude with the white girl wit da big fake ass.

Budden can go with anyone on the mic. But now he's known as a beef hungry, attention starved opportunist by pimping his girls ass. And his whole 'thick skin' stance is exposed in the above interview.
No need to even think about 'the other side' if your skin is so thick.

Joey is a walking contradiction; a guy always embroiled in beef who doesn't want beef; a guy that wants to be left alone who posts interviews featuring his girl's ass...Seems he's trying hard to be enigmatic but that should come easier, shouldn't it?

Grant Hill got thicker skin; his wife is fine and can sing and everybody wanna bang her since her first album dropped and still do.

Maybe he doesn't realize how he looks to the public; maybe he don't care. Can't tell with this guy.

Sure he was blauntly wrong for calling meth out, red and even melle Mel, he says he didnt but still..

However I have to admit he makes music that gravitiates your attention, and has that potential to reach legendary mc status, but calling out folks isn't the way to go.. It be nice to watch him and red battle it out! And see for ourself if he's a beast like he says he is..i'd like to see that tho, thus shud give him some validation of credentials that he is better than 95% of of these kats dropping today.. And honestly joe budden is what hip hop is missing too! It needs a breath of fresh air and I think budden cud be that one that brings hip hop battleing to the forefronts again.. I mean come on hip hop use to be about battleing, that's what makes it fun and interesting..

However I still ain't forget he called out 3 of the goats in hip hop, or has ever happen to hip hop.. Aside from that tho, u gotta give dude credit for speaking on it and wanting the title to be one of the greatest battle kats LOL.

And as far as his women, I have another opinion.. Indeed she is a beautiful lady who has gracious curves... But c'mon on now, how u gon use her as a pawn, I guess if that's a new way in marketing or promoting yourself, thats untasteful, I guess he that hungry. U can't hate on a man's hustle but that kind of hustle, I would never never be a sell out and use another human to grasp industry kats attention or moreso use her like a bait. Fuck that! But if she's okay with it then hey it is what it is.. No wonder us females be getting bad raps cuz of other females actions.. Women allow that shit and it becomes redundant within society..

Anyways that my two cents on the interview hate it or love it..

Do I believe that he is a fan of hip hop yes but I think he takes his thoughts too far and speaks on some things that eventually get him trouble rather than help him I mean damn u cant speak on everything that you dont like. He puts alot of emotion into his tracks but which is cool but I think sometimes he goes overboard wit it and that is why he is where he is.

I mean he says he does it just for the love but at the same time if that was the case then you wouldnt speak on all the shit you speak on you would just let it flow and let everything else fall into place. Dudes lyrically gift is beyond measure but he goes too deep into some topics and that is what makes fans say he whine to much or that he crazy or that his music is too dark.

I think he and Meth would be a good battle but I dont think Joe would come out on top as far as just lyrically spittin. Listen to a full Joe album alot of his shit dont have a hook cause he speakin on so much shit but when he does that he jumps topics alot so it makes his music sound like its all over the place I mean he keeps all together which makes it come out better but sometimes its good to put a loop or a chorus in a song. Like I dont have a problem wit his production I think his production is on point cause he beats fits his style. I believe that Padded Room was a solid album there are some songs that sounded bad but your gonna get that when your dealin wit a label like the one he is fucking wit. Joe was just tryna get his product to the streets and that is what he did.

I will end wit this though. Joe has a loyal fan base. Im a loyal fan Ive been down since day one. Now I dont know how many people will be as loyal after this whole Method Man fiasco but as long as he keeps puttin out good music that his fans want 2 hear then I think he'll be good.

One last thing I think Melle Mel took Joes comments way too hard. Yea he is a legend in the game but there really isnt ne1 checkin for Melle Mel like that. He speaks on all is awards and shit but to be real how many true MCs were back in his day. No disrespect to ne of the legends but Melle Mel was as considered a lyrical cat like Rakim or The D.O.C was or like a KRS-One. I mean those guys show respect to the legends but some of those ol skool guys werent really hot as far as their lyrical talent.

Anyway, Joe Budden is a beast at times. Sometimes, his verse can be a little weak, but even those weak verses are better than 75% of the mess out there now.

As far as legends, fuck that. i can understand supporting your favorite rappers, or remembering a legends place in this hip hop culture, but it is okay to admit that new people are better than old people.

I like Pastor Troy...but will I argue the pint that he could beat somebody like...TI in a battle? Hell no.

I like Public Enemy...theyre legends....

But lyrically, could Chuck D and Flave beat say...Charles Hamilton in a battle? Hell no.

ll i'm saying is, I'm not a rapper, Im not these rappers, and honestly, none of the arguments affect any of our lives. Why can we just sit back and enjoy good hip hop? Let the people rap it out...instead of finding baby moms and taking them shopping or posting their pornos...

Hip Hop is finally coming out of this dark hole from the past four years and people wanna complain the two lyrical rappers (Meth and Buddens) might rap against each other?

I can't front, I don't really follow Joe's music besides a few tracks I've heard. He's solid, but not someone I fell the need to check for. That being said, he comes across very calculated. Besides the few times he's gotten a little out of pocket, I feel him on most of his points. quite the contrary, my pops worked for a rap radio station when I was lil, so i was into Naughty back when they RAN SHIT. I saw them perform at the Mann Music Center in Philly in 94. Them niggas was DEEP. They rolled up in like 3 limo vans packed wit niggas in black hoodies. When they performed, Treach dedicated Hip-Hop Hooray to Mike Tyson. O.P.P and Uptown Anthem got the crowd wylin the fuck out!! Saw Lords of the Underground at that concert too. Lords used to be MY SHIT, Chief Rocka and Funky Child, damn those was the fuckin days.

But that was almost 16 years ago. The world's changed alot, Hip-Hop's changed alot. The WTC got knocked down, a black man got elected Prez, and Naughty no longer ran the game once Dre dropped Chronic on the world. To me, saying that Treach is better than Budden is like saying John Starks is better than Lebron. If you like Treach's songs more than Joe's so be it. Free country. (what about NbN's post-mid-90s stuff that was completed ignored by radio and BET - did you like that music too?)

But don't front about Budden's resume. WTF is this "mixtapes don't count" bullshit? Mixtapes are about artistic freedom. Mood Musik 1, 2, 3 contain concentrated LYRICAL FURY that's undiluted by his hapless record label. (the same record label that was so bad at promoting albums that *gasp* Method Man himself complained to the media about it.) I can't recall any Naughty by Nature songs where Treach even comes close to matching the kind of lyrical skill shown in MM2.

The fact is, once the East Coast came back there were a gang of mcs nicer than Treach. Biggie, Nas, the ENTIRE Wu, Jeru, Guru, Big L, etc. Naughty by Nature winning the first Best Rap Album Grammy was a disgrace. They ignored Me Against the World, Liquid Swords, The Infamous, and Cuban Linx to give Treach that Grammy. smh.

this is why he can't do well in this game because he's like that dude Jin. He's too concerned with battle rapping and street corner/outside of the bodega spittin' as oppose to making music that people won't get sick of after the 3rd song on an album. Papoose is the same I believe and that's why nobody checkin' for him either. When you make an album it ain't about battling nobody, it's about keep the attention of the listener and showing versatility. Joe Budden never finds a balance in my opinion. He had his opportunity. He had the world's ears back in the day with Pump It Up, which by the way was wack, but he couldn't follow-up with an album that interested people. That shit left a bad taste in people's mouths.

Sure Joe can rap, but he gives himself too much credit. While he's still worry about who he can beat in a battle, the guys he's claiming he's better than are making movies, more albums, getting booked constantly for shows, and stacking money to take care of themselves and their families while Joe is running his mouth all over the internet and getting nowhere!

Joe Budden can spit, bottom line. I still listen to his first joint and honestly, he should somehow get the rights to it and rerelease it. I respect his skill, his wit, his honesty and his work ethic. If put in the right situation, he could eventually be talked about as one of the greats...if heads could just LISTEN. All that being said, as far as Meth goes, at this point right now, I think Joe could get him but it wouldn't be as one-sided as most might think. Aight..........let me start by saying this. Meth is NOT a legend......the Wu as a group is legendary. The only doods that are legendary in their own right from the Wu are RZA, Ghost and you can make an argument for Rae. Meth never dropped a classic album..........Tical did not meet it's expectation. I will admit the album had some classic joints on there but collectively it was not in the same league as the classic albums that were released in that same era, i.e. Illmatic, Ready to Die, Only Built for Cuban Linx, Low End Theory, etc.

Red on the other hand, IMO, dropped one classic album......his first joint. Subsequent to his debut Red dropped 4 solid albums from a span of 1994 through 2001. In his prime Red was a lyrical beast.....there few doods in the mid to late 90's that could see this man on the Mic. I consider Red a legend.

In the year 2009, Meth nor Red is seeing this kid on the mic. IMO, Joe is the best battle rapper on the planet as we comment on this situation. As far as an MC, eventhough I like Joe's music better, he's a close second to Lupe. Nuckas who have not heard the Mood Muzik series should not comment on Joe. If all you know Joe for is "Pump it up"....go do your homework. Joe in his prime (the last several years) vs Meth in his prime (ya'll nuckas pick the years) would devour Meth. Joe vs Red in his prime would be an ill battle.......I'm not certain who would come out on top.

Joe should have said the following........"none of you'll doods can see me on the mic circa 2009 and if any of you'll rappers feel a way get in the booth.....I'll prove it." let me tell you a little story: [and I will keep posting it on other blogs until I feel it has been caught by the ahh regulars & I'm interested in your opinions]

I worked as a label rep for music label back in the gap.my boss upon hiring me told me she'd send me out on my 1st promo tour soon,but she definitely wouldn't be sending me out with 1 particular group..next thing I know,I get a call saying she needed me to meet this group,[the one who she said she didn't want me to go out 1st with] & accompany them on their 1st promo tour.a 1st for both of us.so without having any apprehensions,I agreed in proceeded to me them somewhere in ohio,if I remember correctly.I got there & met the the group & my boss @ the airport.then we began the promo tour.as a label rep,my job was essentially road management for the label..this group was unique in that the majority where open to what they needed to do,none really were professional.like any other group of nigga,they did what they had to do,in between getting their per diem & smoking weed.the group I'm speaking of is the wu tang clan.@ this time everyone was there except ol dirty bastard & raekwon.[cappadonna hadn't joined the group yet].during this leg of the promo tour [several parts of ohio & michigan]I had an opportunity to deal with these individuals up close..they had just put c.r.e.a.m. out there as a single & were still riding high on "protect ya neck" & "m.e.t.h.o.d.m.a.n." but were essentially fresh off the block.I was shocked to discover in this time period that 1-they all didn't really get along with each other like that [I personally witnessed meth & ugod get into a physical altercation].2-being straight off the block,several had smoked CRACK on the regular..[I won't name names but I will say I heard it straight from 1 of them's mouth,and as he told me,the others heard him telling me & didn't dispute it].and 3-this soon to be major force in eastcoast rap was TURNED OUT on r kelly's "12 play" & the babyface cd with soon as I get home & whip appeal,constantly playing these shits over & over & over.anyway,getting them to do shit was sometimes difficult..they just wanted their per diem & to smoke..then raekwon joins the tour..anyway we had spent the WHOLE day doing in stores,ect,nonstop.without really getting a chance to eat.we were all a little tired & grumpy but it needed to et done..and around evening time,we were in the backstage area of this club,and they had brought like 4 or 5 pizzas,so naturally we all dug into them..starving I had like 2 slices.after this performance,we are loaded back into the vans,planning out next movement,when all of the sudden,the door open on the van I'm driving & raekwon,masta killa & I THINK ghostface began hitting me in the face & body,WHILE I'M SEATBELTED IN THIS VAN-FOR EATING SOME MUFUCKING PIZZA! [I KNOW raekwon was throwing punches,as was masta killa.ghostface was close by his side but I don't know if he threw any or not,].when I had the slices,I saw raekwon mugging me out of the corner of his eye,but I wasn't tripping..[he had just came that day & unlike the others I had built with,I didn't know anything about corey woods.needless to say seatbelted in this econoline van,I got beat pretty bad.[to this day I have marks on my eye & lip from this incident].after they stopped,I was sitting there,engine running,bleeding..thinking to myself rza,inspector deck & meth,whom I'd become cool with,particularly meth,didn't say shit..didn't even attempt to stop it.I would've thought the rza would've done something,or his brother divine,who was their road mgr..when we got our next destination,I'm bloodied up & jason staten [who I found out later was listed as their a&r coordinator or something,on their 1st cd-wtf] was outside tellingme what they did was wrong & press charges right now while their doing this promo @ wherever we are @]he said he would be a witness..ME being affiliated with & acknowledging the "code of the streets",declined to do this & continued this promo tour for another day & a half,after which,suddenly I was given my last check & a plane tix..apparently my boss feared for my safety & decided to let me go.as we all parted company @ the airport,a couple gave me dap but the majority didn't speak to me & that was it.I thought that was the end of me on that tour..but I had been fired completely..I later found out that my boss was afraid of the damage as well as the negative publicity on this group prior to their debut cd being relased,would cause..needless to say,I had no idea they would blow up to the extent they did..and ever since,I've hoped to catch raekwon in a one on one situation.back then,as it is now,I'd stomp the shit outta that little dude,but that's kind of hard to do when the coward sets it off on someone seatbelted in a fucking van.I got dudes social security # & could've easily did some shit with that,once he began blowing up..that was years ago..and I have never shared this story with anyone [outside of a few of my homies],save the 1 time I sent it to this very site & illseed chose to disregard it.I recently heard meth on shade 45 & called the artist shotline to try & get on the air & share it,but couldn't.how would any of you readers feel about being the vic on some shit like this? nevermind the fact that this person is an entertainer,just period? so hearing about how mufuckaz wanna gang up on budden for his comments or about this ob4cl2 cd just brings back old wounds for me,literally as well as figuratively..to hear "wu tang aint nuthin to fuck with" & hear over the years about all the stories of them gangbanging mufuckin individuals,makes me wish for the day I can see corey woods again.if he's performing somewhere chances are he will have niggaz with him,but if he's performing somewhere,I can know & have a few niggaz with me,that really don't give a fuck.dude is a bitch for what he did,and a subpar rapper @ best.a short disgruntled wanna be tough guy,hoping to recapture adulation with a waterdown version of his [and arguably,ghostface's opus]..retaliation is a must & in the end,I believe corey woods will pay for what he did to me..I only hope I get the opportunity to be the debit collector..
