Compared to all the other past No Limit artists Silk to me was whack. Plus from what I understand he had some kind of beef with Soulja Slim at one point. To me with if you beef with Slim you done in my book. But compare him to Full Blooded, Fiend, Mr. Serv On, C-Murder, of course the late GREAT Soulja Slim, Mac (fuckin' Mac? Boy could rap some deep shit, ya heard me?) hell even Master P; he can't hold up. I agree "let me hit it" was classic and a lot of "Charge it to the game" for that matter but his flows were spastic. His verse on "Bourbons and Lacs" was tight to me and I'll always remember it. But Hip Hop is in a different place these days. Southern hip hop is in a different place. I don't think he'll see much from a new album. But Hey I hope he proves me wrong. More power to ANYBODY that can rhyme. and MOST POWER to anyone making a living in these days and times.

I use to live in Texas and my boi and I was on the way to Houston for a concert. We got pulled over and he got locked up for the night in a small hick town. I can't front...I never liked Silkk The Shocker as a rapper. He reminded me that young dude who always wanted to fit in.
If I'm not mistaking, Master P's name was Silk first, but then he changed his name so Silkk took his name. So you can argue that P gave him his style. Then Mystikal came along, only to have Silkk try to imitate him...sometimes on the same track.

The only reason I'm willing to give Silkk a second listen is because he sounded DAMN INTELLIGENT in this interview! I don't think he cursed one time, did he? But not just that, dude came off articulate and very down to earth. I'm happy that he was able to move on from the No Limit era and secure a position as President of a record label. That's big shit right there!

So much success to Silkk...and you better bring the heat with this new album!

Silkk is nasty...and he wasn't rhyming off beat, he was just catching his flow on different parts of the beat. for example,

Everyone on "Make em say ugh" is rhyming to the kick drum and the synth sample, while Silkk caught his flow off of the snare.

If you think there's nothing "west coast" about No Limit then you don't know much about the game. Makaveli got his game AND start from the Bay and so did the No Limit Soldiers.
