Stylist Manifesto: Effortless Summer Fashion

Summer is the hottest season, literally and figuratively, to look and be cool. It’s easy to get lost in the endless trends, yet keep it simple.

You can still stay true and keep your summer style fly by going back to the basics and mixing the old with the new.

Here are some simple tips!

Wear simple denim (no logos), khaki cargo shorts in a vivid color, and go back to the classics with retro kicks.

Men can complete the look with a white polo shirt, or keep it all hood with a white tee…

Ladies, a simple white halter top or pack of Hanes wife-beaters (no pun intended) works. Or try sun-dresses in light patterns or with bold colors that pop. They can be worn with flat sandals that have a bit of an edge to perfectly accessorize any look, dressed up or down.

Another key accessory to add your summer wardrobe: a straw-Fedora hat, especially on those humid dog days of summer. For the ladies, it’ll keep away a bad-hair day, and for the dudes that are hat fanatics it’ll give the Yankee fitted a vacation (sorry Boston fans).

Here are three classic kicks re-vamped with a 2008 twist.

The Nike Huarache’s ‘08 have that fresh out the box look

The Nike Court Force's colors are unisex and will make you look hotter than the weather

The Converse Lo in Metallic Gold that’s bringing new flavor to the canvas.

Money’s camo-version of the cargo short gives you a dose of that purple, while their "Pornoflage" short goes for a fun take on the classic khaki.

These studded flat Athena sandals by Jeffrey Campbell can perfectly add that rocker-chic look to any simple summer dress - no other accessories would be needed.

Ladies, keep it light by wearing dresses made with breathable fabrics such as cotton or blends to stay cool. Also, to make these looks go from day to night just throw on heels!

Triple 5 Soul's Upper Crust Convertible Strap Dress

The Honey Dress by DC

This Classic Fedora by Stussy will keep the sun… and the haters out of your face!

Keep in mind that fashion is supposed to be effortless. It’s about finding items that represent your personal sense of style, and being able to have classic key pieces that you want to keep and wear next season!
